Line Tool Problem
The RailModeller 3.1.3 manual says that holding down the shift key restricts the line tool to horizontal or vertical segments. I can not seem to get this feature to work for the FIRST line segment.
If I press the shift key before I click on the first point (and keep holding it down), the first segment is not restricted to horizontal or vertical, but the rest of the segments are restricted. If I press the shift key (and keep holding it down) BEFORE I click on the line tool, the same thing happens.
Interestingly, if I don't start pressing the shift key until after I click on the first point, then the first TWO line segments are not restricted.
Is this a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Re: Line Tool Problem
That's how it's supposed to work - restricting the line points to be on the same x or y position.
I'll check if I can clarify this in the documentation.

Re: Line Tool Problem
Maybe I was not clear in my original post. I understand how restricting the line tool with the Shift key is SUPPOSED to work. But I can not get it to work for the FIRST segment of a line drawing. I was trying to draw an L-shaped line with one segment precisely horizontal and the other precisely vertical. The first segment is never restricted, and is a little off from horizontal or vertical (depending on which end I start with.)
Thanks

Re: Line Tool Problem
Hmm, I just tried it with 3.1.3 and I could restrict the second point and any other without any problem, e.g. to create the L shape attached.
Not sure what's the problem..

Re: Line Tool Problem
I am not getting the line tool restrictions either.
Mac OSX.5 Intel dual core 2.
Select line tool, click start point, hold shift and click second point is not restricted. Third point is restricted from second though when I keep holding shift.
Alternate, hold shift, click first point, click for second point, second point not restricted, but third point is restricted from second.
So how come you can make it work and some users can't??

Re: Line Tool Problem
Tested it again with the latest 3.1.5 release on Mac OS 10.5.7, works without a problem on my configuration.
I'll do some more testing for the next update.
