ACWA Results - July 9, 2005
ACWA American Revolution hit Neptune, NJ like a rolling thunderstorm and it produced a new Women's World Champion, unveiled the new Tag Team Champions and a bizarre ending to the Heavyweight Title Match. The night began with the introduction of the New ACWA Heavyweight Champion, "Sure Thing" Ryan Wing. When asked about his controversial victory over CJ Summers, Wing replied "I don't understand the controversy, I beat him 1-2-3 in the middle of the ring." He stated that tonight he would walk out with the title because "I don't have to beat CJ, CJ has to beat me."
Sean Royal defeated "Dangerous" Dan McGuire
With Royal's debut turning out to be sour, he was looking to avenge that loss against Dan McGuire. This matchup started off quickly with a lot offensive exchanges taking each other to the mat. Using dirty tactics, McGuire seized control of the match and began to wear down Royal. Just as it seemed over, Royal mounted an offense to make a comeback in the match. McGuire spent too much time jawing with the fans and it cost him as Royal used it to his advantage and pinned McGuire for the victory.
Jana defeated Della Morte (ACWA Women's World Title Match)
This rivalry came to a head during this match. Kuvatro, the newest member of the Darkness, accompanied Della Morte to the ring. However, the Championship Committee threatened to strip the title form Della Morte if she didn't send Kuvatro back to the locker room. So now the matchup would be a fair one. Early on, Jana was able to keep Della Morte off balance with a combination of great mat skills and quick takedowns. Della Morte seemed a little surprised at the early attack from Jana, but that soon came to end as Della Morte stopped the offense with more illegal moves in the ring. Midway through the match, Della Morte seemed to want to punish Jana in any way, shape or form, whether it was using her power or trying to get Jana to submit. Jana amazingly mounted a comeback only to have it stalled by Della Morte wrenching back on her chin despite being hung up in the corner. After two straight suplexes, the match seemed over, but Della Morte went for a third straight suplex, which Jana blocked, and then rolled Della Morte up for the win, becoming the New ACWA Women's World Champion.
Travis Blake & The Orphan defeated the Machines
When the night began, no one knew who Blake's Tag Team partner would be. As the Machines were conducting what resembled an interview, Blake came out of the locker room and interrupted the proceedings. He stated, "I am the entire Tag Team Champions. The Machines think they're tough, let's see how tough they are." After that comment, Blake attacked one of the Machines with the Tag Team belt, but a beating ensued as it became a 2-on-1 beat down. Then out of nowhere and to everyone's surprise, the Orphan stormed from the locker room and cleaned house of both of the Machines. Blake wanted none of it, and throughout the following match would immediately tag out when hit and send the Orphan back in. Just like their debut back in June, The Machines again constantly distracted the referee, allowing the illegal partner to enter the ring getting in shot after shot behind the referee's back. As the Orphan took down both Machines, he just made it over to Blake to tag, allowing Blake to gain control in the match. The Machines used more illegal tag team moves, even using phantom tags to switch in and out of the match. In the end, the Orphan won the match with a pin in the middle of the ring, retaining the Tag Team Championships with his new found partner, Travis Blake.
Fred "Bonecrusher" Sampson defeated Rob Eckos
With both men making their return to the ACWA, this match had a lot riding on it. Rob Eckos wanted to stop the match altogether with an offer to go out partying with Sampson on the Jersey shore. Sampson had none of it as he clotheslined Eckos to the mat and Eckos rolled to the outside of the ring. Sampson maintained early control with powerful slams and knockdowns, but Eckos followed the other rule book, "The Dirty Rule Book." The assault continued through most of the match. Sampson battled back and in the end after having the first one reversed, Sampson crushed Eckos with a running power slam for the victory.
"Rowdy" Bobby Piper defeated Aaron Stride
After being unsuccessful in his title hunt, Piper looked to put a damper on Stride's debut. Early on, both men traded blows as Stride seemed to get the better of the shots, but Piper quickly resorted to his cheating ways to end any offense Stride tried to mount. The match took a seesaw effect as both battled for control of the contest. Stride used every last ditch effort to overcome the cheating of Piper, but in the end, with thehelp of pulling the tights, Piper came out of the match victorious.
Ryan Wing and CJ Summers battled to a Double Count-Out
From the comments heard earlier from Wing, fans expected to see CJ come firing on all cylinders trying to avenge his recent loss to Wing, and he did just that. He quickly took Wing down to the mat with deep arm drags and hip lock takeovers. Wing quickly retreated to the outside of the ring, wanting to end the match early, but CJ would have none of that and quickly got Wing back in the ring. The match was clearly in CJ's hands until Wing used multiple illegal shots to gain control. He backed CJ into the corner, hitting with knee lifts and shots to the midsection. He took down Summers, looking to wear him out with a tight headlock. He even found time during this exchange to berate the fans about the famed "Chicken Wing" chant that has followed him lately. CJ seized the opportunity and reversed the momentum, taking Wing down to the mat with a leg lariat. He kept the offense going with a back body drop and followed that up with a clothesline, sending Wing over the top rope to the floor. Wing tried to leave again but CJ followed him and kept the offense moving by pounding Wing with a fury of moves and eventually sending him back into the ring, resulting in a two-count. As the match wore on, the fight once again went to the outside and CJ kept the momentum going by following Wing around the building, beating him from one side to the other. At one point CJ sent Wing crashing over a chair in the crowd, but with the intense battle ongoing, CJ seemed to have forgotten about the count and the referee reached the count of ten, rendering this match a double count-out. The fight wasn't over as both Wing and CJ continued fighting in the ring. Finally, the locker room spilled out to separate these two, but even that couldn't stop the fight as they got their hands on each other again and continued battling back to the locker room where security and other ACWA officials finally separated them.
This was awild and crazy night in Neptune, but you have to wonder what will happen next in the ACWA heavyweight Title picture. What will the Championship Committee do to try and put this feud to rest? Keep it here on acwawrestling.com and find out more as the weeks unfold.
