New to the site

Hi, only just found this site and I must say it sounds promising about a strip being built here. Adelaide (where I am) is going nowhere in regards to AIR reopening or a new strip being built. On the news a week ago it said that the private consortium couldnt get the govt to release any land so they may be going to Victoria. There would be so many cars in Adelaide that would make the trip to Barmera to have a run.
Im doing the finishing touches on a 67 Camaro at the moment. A bit showy but I built it to be driven. At the moment it has a mild 355 but I am putting together a 427 and want it to run in the elevens.
I really hope things work out with the strip. Im getting too old to wait much longer!
ImageHmm that didn't work out, trying to put up some pics emoticon

Welcome 427, Due to work and family commitments I haven't been involved with the motorsport club lately. But the last committee meeting I attended the feeling around the club was very positive.
If your not doing anything tomorrow and feel like a drive come up to Barmera and attend the all cars day.
There will be members of the Motorsport club on hand to answer any questions you may have with regard to Drag Strips progress.
I think if a track gets built in Barmera lots of Adelaide cars will come to race, I travel from Barmera to Adelaide each week for work, and once the road works around Gawler are finished the trip will be a breeze.
Your Camaro sounds neat, I'm guessing the 427 will be a small block..
I'm in the process of upgrading the engine in my car, I can't wait to give it a run.
Cheers Mark

That is a very neat camaro. Ive always wanted a late 60's camaro but unless i win X-lotto or land a high paying job looks like I'm stuck with the HK .

Thanks for that. I'll try it with this latest photo. Got a bit of chrome trim on it now. And to Mark, it's a big block I'm putting together.
.060 over 427 (439)
Forged GM crank
Lunati Solid FT 243/251@.050 .586/.600
10.25 comp
LS7 rods
Forged pistons
Ported 781Ovals 2.19 1.88 valves
Holley 830 Annular
Going for the old school look with the motor.
Car has a fully worked Turbo350, full manual reverse pattern, 3000 stall
1350 tailshaft
9" diff, Strange centre, has 3.5 gears at the moment but will probably get 4.11's
Moser 31 spline axles.
I'll try and put up a before and after photo. It started as a LHD 67 RS five years ago and has now pretty much financially ruined me!!

And then of course you can't have all that power and skinny tyres so it will be getting mini tubs and bigger rims n tyres.
Does this never end? I'll be the oldest muscle car owner in OZ by the end of it!
Hurry up and get that track sorted out emoticon

Hey Mark, so what car do you have and motor. Any pics on here somewhere. Love looking at peoples cars. I see they have racing at Waikerie! I didn't even know that. I went to the Nostalgia drags at Mildura (spectator) a while back. Found some pics on this site of the same meeting. By the position the pics were taken I reckon the guy was standing right behind me!

I've got a HK 4 door, I guess you could call it a rough cut diamond.
I've just fitted a 100 thou over 454, its got AFR 305 cc heads, JE pistons, Camtech custom roller cam and a 1050 Holley.
It has a 5000 converter and a full manual glide.
The motor is in and running and I'm in the process of fitting a new diff centre and moser axles.
I hope to give it a run at Mildura in September.
