Projects people have on the go
If anyone doing anything interesting or boring for that matter on their cars or in the workshop? Maybe they could post updates.
Anyway. Im currently putting together another motor for the old HK (Big Bock). At this stage everything is coming along well, I haven't had too many dramas. The biggest hassle I've had is getting pipes to fit. The pipes I got were from Castle Auto Electrics, they are a good quality product and are well made. The problem I had is that my heads have raised exhaust ports, when the pipes were fitted to the car they hit the floor, inner guards and number 8 plug was impossible to install. I had 2 options get a custom made set for over $2000 or try to make mine fit. I took the cheaper option and cut and shut my nice new pipes to make them fit. It took a couple of weekends and a bit of swearing but they now fit.
Other then that, I've got most of the parts to finish the motor. I just have to do a final piston to valve clearance check and then the short motor can go together.
My goal is to have the motor together and in the car and running by the end of May.
Then I'll strip the interior out and fit a 6 point cage.
I also will have to upgrade my 28 spline axles and Trimatic V8 tailshaft before it hits the track, although they have served me well over the past 11 years.
Id like to give it its first run at a street meet in Mildura later in the year to sort out any bugs, and hopefully have it running strong by their November meeting.
But that all depends on time and money.

Ive heard some really good reports on the torque power duel plane inlet manifolds. It will be interesting to see how it goes.
