Rod Saboury's 1963 Corvette Pro-Street Coupe
Rod is no longer the owner, but he left his mark with this fabulous Coupe. The car is a multiple magazine cover car and it has won many awards, but lets start with the engine and something that is not very well known.
The engine that powers this car is the first preproduction GM factory Z06 engine. It was purchased from GM by Hot Rod Magazine for a project car that was never completed. Scoggin-****ey Performance bought the project car, but Rod was able to purchase the engine to install in this Corvette. This little known fact really adds some GM history to this car.
To get the Kool stance, the stock control arms were removed and replaced with Custom Tubular A-arms, Mustang Spindles with R&P steering...it drives great. In the rear, there is a narrowed 9" which is hung from a custom 2x3 frame. The exhaust are highly polished 2 1/2" pipes with Flowmaster mufflers designed and built by Rod personally.. To finish off the mechanical package, there is a Richmond 5-speed transmission.
The exterior of the car is finished in beautiful Nassau Blue..a Corvette Color. The interior is White leather..it looks great! The car is air conditioned and even with the horsepower (est. at 700) it gets 20 mpg with the AC running. Since the photos were taken, the car was purchased by a gentleman in Georgia. He has made many visual/mechanical improvements to the engine, rear and has highly detailed the undercarriage to like new condition.
