Heroes Season 4 news and spoilers no posting here updated 10/31
Volume 5, "Redemption."
We can absolutely assure you that Zachary Quinto is coming back next season. We're hearing that Sylar is present in what's described as "a very Fight Club-esque way." The Heroes deaths will continue next season, and a few of your favorite characters may be resurrected in the process. (Pssst, that has nothing to do with our pal Sylar). Source: The Ausiello Files
Zachary Quinto will without question be back next season. But I hear the show is also planning to introduce a cool and mysterious new villain. Tracy's whole revenge arc will serve as a centerpiece of next fall's "Redemption" volume. Source: The Ausiello Files
Bryan Fuller says that, "The Hiro story for season four is the best story we've ever come up with for Hiro. It's so emotional and exciting and adventurous." Source: Kristin on E!Online
Hiro's storyline for Volume 5 Redemption will indeed deal with time travel and that we should not worry because it will be "worth it".
Casting breakdown for Episodes 401, 402 and 403 with filming dates for each episode. New casting roles with full descriptions for Emma, Tattoo girl, Claire's roomate, Matt's partner, Carnival Barker and Knife Thrower.
Volume 5 will take on the feel of the show Carnivale. Besides a Knife Thrower and a sexy, twentysomething Tattoo Girl, Heroes is on the hunt for a middle-aged Eddie Izzard type to play the Carnival Barker, a smooth operator with a wicked wit. This character, I hear, will start small and grow. Source EW
Matt Parkman will get a new partner/"mentor." Claire will get a roomate. Source: SpoilerTV
Here is a summary of spoilers sent via a news letter to those who got a Heroes All Access Membership: We're all very excited about the next volume of Heroes (volume 5) called "REDEMPTION." All of our characters, in way or another, return to their normal lives after the turmoil and tragedy of "FUGITIVES." One of the big issues we'll be exploring is how should a person with abilities live his or her life. Should they try to assimilate by hiding their abilities, or should they live more honestly, exposing their powers to the world? Claire will be at the forefront of that issue, starting college in Washington, D.C., and trying to discover, as all college kids do, who she really is. But re-adjusting to normal life won't be easy, especially when Claire is caught in the crossfire of her parent's divorce and a mysterious suicide on campus. Meanwhile, Peter and Nathan are trying to get their lives back on track. Peter is trying to be a hero in the purest sense - saving on life at a time. But that means cutting himself off from friends and family. It's only when Peter makes a romantic connection with a fascinating new "powerful" woman that he'll find out that life means staying connected to others. Nathan is discovering new things about himself everyday, mostly due to the fact that he's actually Sylar. Matt will have to live with the guilt of what he did to Sylar; making his attempts to live a normal life with his wife and child virtually impossible. Noah Bennet (HRG), with the help of Tracy Strauss, Angela Petrelli and all of our Heroes, is tasked with forming a new COMPANY. But that new organization won't be concerned with conspiracies and prisons anymore. It will be about people. Finding them. Connecting to them. And figuring out why so many of them have been seduced by another "organization" out there that treats people with abilities in a fascinating, dangerous and potentially deadly new way. Source: SpoilerTV
British actor Ray Park, whose role as Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace made him an icon to fanboys far and wide, is joining the cast for a sizeable arc. [...] Little is known about Park's role, except that he's playing one of the colorful characters at the center of the show's Carnivale-esque storyline. (My guess? He's the character described in the breakdowns as "Knife Thrower.") Source: The Ausiello Files
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Prison Break's Robert Knepper (aka creepmaster T-Bag) will be playing Samuel, a charismatic fellow with a knack for mischief. For at least six episodes, Knepper's Samuel will be the key figure in the death carnival, the primary new setting and storyline for season four. [...] Also on deck for Heroes season four is Madeline Zima, whose life this summer will be intercutting between Californication, where she plays cerebral tease Mia, and the environs of fictional Costa Verde, Calif., where she will be in college with Claire. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Zima's Heroes character, Gretchen, is "an edgy outsider." In other news, look for the casting later this month of new character Emma, who is hot, hearing impaired and smart. Emma will first appear in episode three and recur throughout the volume. She is expected to be a new love interest for Peter Petrelli. Masi Oka's Hiro Nakamura will also be a major focus of Volume Four, as he works to undo some of the damage done to his life since the eclipse unleashed his powers. [...] Hiro's bloody noses and headaches are not going away next season on Heroes. In fact, it's going to be a cause for speculation on if we're going to lose another hero soon.Source: Kristin on E!Online
In the next series are we going to see Matt trying to start a family again? Absolutely. The next series of Heroes is all about really Parkman trying to deal with what he’s done and the consequences that play into that now that he’s switched out the brains between Nathan and Sylar and was my character effected by that at all? I mean when do something like that you can imagine there’s probably residue left and is that going to effect me? Is Parkman going to have a little bit of Sylar in him? And I hope they play that up. The first script just came out and it’s fantastic so I can’t wait and see what they have planned for me. Do you think your character is going to be one of the ones seeking redemption in the next series as it is titled “redemption”? I think so. I think there’s defiantly redemption there and I think there’s regret, there’s defiantly going to be a lot of regret and even the very last shot of me in the last series is when you see Parkman standing over Sylar’s body and he defiantly regrets what he’s just done. And so if things go wrong they’re going to turn to Parkman to try and fix what he’s done even though he begrudgingly did it.
[It's kind of true that Claire will have a romantic relationship with Rachel Melvin's new character, Annie.] I'm not sure about a full-blown relationship, but I can confirm that the college roomies will engage in a little sapphic experimentation. [...] Remember me telling you that producers were casting an 11-year-old version of Nathan? Well, thanks to Adrian Pasdar, now we know why! "I absorb a memory from an article of clothing that sends me back in time to when I was 11," he explains. "Something happened to young Nathan but old Nathan doesn't remember it. How can that be? It has to do with a character we have met before." Source: The Ausiello Files
We're increasingly certain that a beloved, original castmember is leaving Heroes for good before the end of the coming season. Source: Kristin on E!Online
Model/actress Dawn Oliveri will be playing "Tattoo Girl" Lydia. [...] Apparently Heroes producer Adam Armus was interviewed by IGN providing them with the first details about her character. "Lydia is the beautiful, charming, soul of the Sullivan Brothers Carnival. This carnival is a roving band of people blessed with special abilities. They are powerful, but they hide in the shadows, performing on the outskirts of towns and cities. But all of that is about to change. Lydia has been part of this carnival for a number of years. She is the exotic tattoo lady, but she is also a powerful empath of sorts. She has the ability to 'sense' the images on her body and provide valuable information about them. This ability is of great value to Samuel (Robert Knepper), the leader of the carnival. He uses Lydia's ability to locate other 'specials' in the world and uses the information she provides to woo them to his side. Lydia is compassionate towards Samuel. She understands the grief that has fueled his ambition. But will she support his ultimate destructive goals? Will she be loyal or does Lydia have her own agenda?" Source: SpoilerTV
Heroes has found an actress to torture Claire as her new sorority pledge master. Tessa Thompson, who played Jackie Cook on Veronica Mars during the 2005-06 season, will play upperclassman Becky, who is protecting a secret of her own. Expect Claire and Becky to clash. Source: TV Guide Magazine
Robert Knepper has already been promoted to series regular status on NBC's Heroes, on which he will make his debut this fall. Knepper was originally signed to play the mysterious Samuel for six episodes, and has so far appeared in every episode, says the Hollywood Reporter. Samuel is "the reluctant ringleader of a carnival," Knepper shared at the San Diego Comic-Con last week. In the wake of his brother's passing, "he's made a decision that his life is not going to be the way it used to be," so he sets out to make some changes. Samuel "one-by-one lures the heroes into helping with that plan," Knepper said. Source: TV Guide Online
Ali Larter is back, and if she didn't mean business before, she certainly does now. [...] Ando's kissing Hiro's sister, Noah is injured at the foot of some stairs and Noah is drowning in a car-wow, they really don't like Noah, huh? Sylar is holding little baby Matt Parkman hostage until he gets his body back. Source: Kristin on E!Online
[Jayma] Mays will reprise her role of Charlie, Hiro's ill-fated love interest. As the dying time-traveler zips back and forth through the ages to accomplish his bucket list. Source: The Ausiello Files

More General News
From creator/writer Tim Kring ("Crossing Jordan") comes the award-winning "Heroes," an epic drama that chronicles the lives of ordinary people who discover they possess extraordinary abilities.
On September 21, "Heroes" returns with its fourth season and a brand-new volume – "Redemption." As the dust settles from last season, our heroes attempt to settle back into their ordinary lives. But, as they will quickly discover, it's not easy to go home again. They will face one pressing question: how do extraordinary people lead ordinary lives? Originally posted on HeroSite.net
Previously, in "Volume 4: Fugitives," our heroes made an attempt to return to their normal lives – but that attempt was cut short when Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettiere) uncovered a deadly plot orchestrated by one of their own – Senator Nathan Petrelli (Adrian Pasdar). After revealing to the government that there were people with special abilities, Nathan spearheaded an initiative to capture and imprison those people and used Noah Bennet a.k.a. H.R.G. (Jack Coleman). Lives were torn apart. H.R.G.’s own marriage was destroyed. Tracy Strauss (Ali Larter) was killed -- literally shattered into frozen pieces.
Ultimately, it was Nathan who paid the price for his misdeeds – murdered at the hands of Sylar (Zachary Quinto). Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), devastated at the loss of her son, and H.R.G., in need of an ally within the government, convinced Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg) to use his ability to repair the damage. Matt used mind control and forced Sylar to shapeshift into Nathan, while erasing Sylar’s own memories so he truly believed he was Nathan. Now, as far as everyone else knows, Nathan is alive and well. And Sylar is gone. But all of that is about to change…
This season, "Volume 5: Redemption" begins with our heroes putting their lives back together.
Claire is finding that her biggest challenges are forgetting her old life and starting college. How does someone who has led such an extraordinary life assimilate back into everyday college life? Any semblance of normalcy is shortly overturned when Claire’s roommate commits suicide and Claire discovers her new friend, Gretchen (guest star Madeline Zima), is hiding a secret herself.
Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) goes back to his old life in Japan, but discovers that he has a terminal illness. When Hiro can no longer keep his illness hidden, he sets out to fulfill his own personal bucket-list – righting the mistakes of his past. But will Hiro be able to correct the errors of his ways without severely altering the past and present?
Peter Petrelli (Milo Ventimiglia) returns to work as an ordinary New York City EMT, but he uses his abilities to save lives. Peter has become obsessed, looking for redemption and shutting out the rest of the world he once knew. How can he forget the past and begin anew? Peter’s life will quickly change when a hearing impaired woman, Emma (guest star Deanne Bray), enters his life. Emma has used her disability as an excuse to shut herself off from the world. But as a new and unique ability manifests, the shell she’s built around herself will begin to crack apart – as will Peter’s.
H.R.G. is adjusting to life as a single man. Charged with creating a new company, he is rapidly discovering that he needs more from his life. But how does a company man become ordinary? And, when Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy) returns and offers H.R.G. compelling evidence of a new danger, it makes H.R.G. wonder if he should get back in the game.
Tracy Strauss, having risen from the dead, is consumed with seeking vengeance, but soon realizes that she has a real opportunity to reinvent herself. The question is: who should she be?
Nathan Petrelli, not realizing who he really is, returns to the Senate and begins to notice strange changes in himself. Most alarming, Nathan discovers that he has new abilities. These changes are not lost on Angela, who recognizes them for what they truly are – the emergence of Sylar.
Meanwhile, racked by the guilt of what he did to Sylar and Nathan, Matt Parkman returns to life as an ordinary family man. All he wants to do is to raise his son, love his wife and return to a fulfilling career as an LAPD detective. But what Matt doesn’t know is that something unfamiliar is buried deep within his psyche – Matt can see and hear Sylar. And this specter will haunt him until Sylar is returned to his body.
The biggest challenge for our heroes is a strange and dangerous carnival comprised of a traveling band of outsiders with powerful abilities, led by a charismatic and powerful leader, Samuel (Robert Knepper). Alongside Samuel is his right hand man, Edgar (guest star Ray Park), a deadly Speedster with a talent for knives, and Lydia (guest star Dawn Olivieri) the Tattooed Lady.
Samuel leads his flock to intersect with the lives of all of our heroes. He will find them, and he will entice them to join him. And together, they will ask the same basic questions: Who are we? What does having powers mean to the world? How should we live our lives – shameful or proud? Should we hide or live out in the open? And if the world of powers is revealed, how will the world ever recover?
In 2009, "Heroes" has been honored with: a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show, a Teen Choice Award for Choice Action-Adventure Television Show, and a SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series. Among its honors in past seasons, "Heroes" has garnered a People’s Choice Award, an AFI Award, a Multicultural Prism Award, a TV Land Future Classic Award, the Television Critics Association Awards' Outstanding Program of the Year, the International Prize at the BAFTA Television Awards, and Choice TV Show Action Adventure at the Teen Choice Awards. It has also garnered nominations at the Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, NAACP Image, WGA and Satellite Awards.
"Heroes" is produced by Universal Media Studios in association with Tailwind Productions. Kring, Dennis Hammer, Adam Armus, Kay Foster and Jim Chory serve as executive producers.
Sources tell us the original plan (which could, of course, be changed at any time) for Jayma Mays' return to Heroes was this: Hiro jumps back in time to the diner where Charlie works, and this time successfully kills Sylar. This jacks up the Heroes timeline (obviously), but the upside is that Hiro then is able to meet with alive-and-well Charlie at a bar in Japan. [...] Not only is Claire trying to have a normal life, but she's also rushing a sorority this season.Source: Kristin on E!Online
"Tracy goes back to her old life working on the Hill, only to discover that she's no longer driven by the same shallow rewards," explains series creator Tim Kring. "She wants to make a difference in people's lives." Source: The Ausiello Files
Ernie Hudson (Oz , Desperate Housewives) heads over to Heroes for a recurring role as Baltimore detective Captain Lubbock, confirms an NBC rep for the show. The storyline details are being kept under wraps, but we're told the character "is on the hunt for one of the other characters on the show." Lubbock will be a recurring character on the series, which starts back on Sept. 21. Source: Kristin on E!Online
Sendhil Ramamurthy resurfaces in November, so you'll get your explanation then. Not sure if this is a clue but my Heroes mole tells me that more than 50 percent of Ramamurthy's scenes since returning have been with Masi Oka. Source: The Ausiello Files
The Riches alum Todd Stashwick has landed a recurring role on NBC's Heroes. He will play Eli who is a part of this season's traveling carnival storyline and has close ties to the carnival's evil ringleader Samuel. Source: The Hollywood Reporter
Sources over on NBC's Heroes confirm to me that a major death is in the works, and this is not one that will go unnoticed by even the most casual fan. It is huge. [...] I will tell you that this leading character is a male [...] and he is one of the original cast. Source: Kristin on E!Online
