Tolkien and New Line settle

The Tolkien estate and New Line have settled a long running dispute over the films' profits. This clears the way for the upcoming Prequel duology The Hobbit to be Produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Guillermo del Toro.

The two sides have been engaged in a lawsuit over money the estate felt was owed to them.

The settlement will benefit charities around the world, including The Tolkien Trust, a British charity that supports causes around the world.
