Highlander remake news

From Total Sci-Fi Online

Fast and Furious' Lin and Mortiz to reboot Highlander

A year after they acquired the remake rights to the Highlander franchise from Davis-Panzer Productions, Summit Entertainment have assigned Justin Lin as director and Neal H. Moritz as producer alongside Peter Davis on their new version of the original movie.

Iron Man's Art Marcum and Matt Holloway have produced a script which focuses on immortal Scots swordsman Connor MacLeod, who confronts a murderous barbarian after a fabled prize. This will form a third variant of the franchise, which has already spawned five movies, two connected live action TV series and a separate cartoon incarnation.

No start date has been set for production yet, and director Lin is now searching for a cast. The original film starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown, with Adrian Paul leading the TV series and the later movies.

They can't make another Highlander... cause there can be only one! emoticon

Oh well, Highlander has been messed up so many times that one more isn't the end of the world.

I once again wonder why the hell do they have to do remakes of great movies, that've been already done as well as they can be.

I can see reasons to make a remake, the film is a little dated and a remake can mean sequels done right.

But I would like a new original Highlander over a Remake. Base a film off the great Highlander Animated film Highlander: The Search for Vengeance.
