posticon Linking to SAP - For Dumbo Please

Hi Folks - I know I'll sound incredibly naive here emoticon but there ya go!

I have a Java App (database) thats develops workscopes, budgets and plans for those workscopes.

The number of times I have been asked if it can integrate with SAP is ridiculous! Obviously we can integrate with anything with ODBC / JDBC etc and I am sure SAP is similar.

But I am completely 'dumb as a box of rocks' when it comes to SAP and quite frankly - even the basic tutorials don't start low enough for me to get a big picture on how integration might be done.

I think at its simplest clients would like us to:

Generate SAP Work Order / Job Card
Output to SAP The Cost of the Planned Works
Output to SAP The Materials Required to so the work
Output to SAP Man Hours to be consumed
Output to SAP Planned duration / dates of works.

This might mean nothing to you guys - but that just demonstrates my ignorance I am afraid.

Here is my question:

In dumb a** terms - how would we consider integrating with a SAP solution.

Any feedback (steady on there... lol) would be welcome.
