Cyclone Feed problems

Just wanted to warn those running the E-grip that it can be hard on the ratchet in the Cyclone feeder. I went to CC today to get some target practice in and, after trying to wait out the rain for an hour and a half, I finally said screw it and went out in the rain to shoot some stuff. I walked out to the target range and, after 3 or 4 shots, the Cyclone stopped feeding paintballs. I found out, after I got home, that the ratchet broke. I looked around online and it seems that many people who run the E-grip have problems with that part breaking, a lot of them say that the stock piece only lasts a couple of months.

Instead of getting another stock part, I am going to invest in a Vortex mod for around $35.00 (the stock piece can be found at TippmannParts.com for $1.50). I though about getting the cheaper stock part for now but it looks like a pain to install and I don’t want to keep installing new ones every few months. Also, the Vortex is supposed to allow higher rates of fire. Hopefully, I can receive the piece and have it installed before our next game/practice.

Had the exact same problem yesterday! I chalked it up to using CO2 and the line freezing. My gun would fire, but the Cyclone stopped. Hmmmmmm.....

I tore my gun completely down tonight...everything looks in check. I think it was the CO2 freezing in the Cyclone. I need to get an HPA tank. I've been dropping so much coin lately, I'll have to wait a while.

By the way, for those of you who have the X-7, have you polished the internals. I have read a lot about it, but until I tore that thing down tonight and actually paid attention to it, I didn't realize how rough it really is in there. I'm seriously considering doing it.

I have the Vortex upgrade with the lightning rod. The rod is what is suppose to let you shoot with low pressure. The rachet just lasts longer. Also I have polished my internals and I don't really see much improvement. It looks better and there shold be less wear on the o-rings.
