2006 Singapore Open results; Winners: Peter Gade (DEN) and Pi Hongyan (FRA)

Men's Singles

World No. 3 Peter Gade (DEN) easily captured the men's singles title against fellow countryman Kenneth Jonassen (DEN) 21-14,21-10. Peter Gade eliminated one of China's Thomas Cup heroes Bao Chunlai (CHN) in the semi-finals 21-15,16-21,21-17 whilst Jonassen won 25-23,19-21,21-16 against another top Chinese player Chen Hong (CHN).

Women's Singles

Pi Hongyan (FRA) upstaged Olympic silver medalist Mia Audina (NED) 22-20,22-20 for the title. Pi Hongyan ousted Petya Nedelcheva (BUL) 2-0 in the semis whilst Mia Audina had to struggle before eliminating Lu Lan (CHN) 21-8,19-21,23-21.

Doubles

Indonesia was the big winner with two doubles titles coming from the men's and mixed doubles events. A new but excellent pairing of two very experienced champions -- Sigit Budiarto and Flandy Limpele (INA) crushed their opponents Thomas Laybourn,Lars Paaske (DEN) 21-8,21-16 in the men's doubles final. World champions Nova Widianto, Lilyana Natsir (INA) prevailed in a very close match 21-16,20-22,23-21 against Olympic silver medalists Nathan Robertson, Gail Emms (ENG). Olympic and World champions Yang Wei,Zhang Jiewen (CHN) pocketed another title with a 21-18,21-18 win against compatriots Zhang Dan,Zhao Tingting (CHN).
