Quarter-final Results:

Men's Singles

Bao Chunlai stunned top seed Lee Chong Wei in three sets in the quarter-finals whilst Lin Dan easily moved into the semis over Hafiz Hashim. Chen Hong took down Europe's top hope Peter Gade in three sets after already slaying defending champion Taufik Hidayat in the previous round. Lee Yong Il prevented a Chinese clean sweep by taking out World junior champion Chen Jin (CHN).

1. Bao Chunlai (CHN) - Lee Chong Wei (MAL)[1] 21-18,12-21,21-18.
2. Lin Dan (CHN)[2] - Hafiz Hashim (MAL) 21-10,21-9.
3. Chen Hong (CHN) - Peter Gade (DEN) 21-17,15-21,21-12.
4. Lee Hyun Il (KOR) - Chen Jin (CHN) 21-18,19-21,21-12.

Women's Singles

Zhang Ning dominated in her quarter-final match against Tracey Hallam although there was an early hiccup where several unforced errors lost her the first set. Dark horse Petra Overzier caused another upset by defeating China's National Games champion Jiang Yanjiao after eliminated Asian champion Wang Chen in the previous round.

1. Zhang Ning (CHN)[1] - Tracey Hallam (ENG) 20-22,21-10,21-10.
2. Xu Huaiwen (GER)[2] - Petya Nedelcheva (BUL) 21-14,17-21,21-16.
3. Xie Xingfang (CHN)[3] - Pi Hongyan (FRA) 21-17,21-10.
4. Petra Overzier (GER) - Jiang Yanjiao (CHN) 21-18,14-21,21-14.

Semi-final Results

Men's Singles

Chen Hong came out in the first set firing on all cylinders and claimed an early lead. After Lin Dan edged past Chen Hong to take the second set, his confidence grew and stepped up the pace to win the match.

Bao Chunlai made it an all-China final by dispatching the last non-Chinese player Lee Hyun Il in the other semi-final.

1. Lin Dan (CHN) - Chen Hong (CHN) 15-21,21-19,21-14.
2. Bao Chunlai (CHN) - Lee Hyun Il (KOR) 21-14,21-19.

Women's Singles

It will be a repeat of last year's final after the top two Chinese players triumphed against their German opponents in straight sets. Xu Huaiwen retained her bronze medal won last year whilst Overzier will be pleased with her first major medal.

1. Zhang Ning (CHN) - Petra Overzier (GER) 21-19,21-11.
2. Xie Xingfang (CHN) - Xu Huaiwen (GER) 21-12,21-10.

Men's Doubles

1. Fu Haifeng, Cai Yun (CHN) - Jens Eriksen, Martin Lundgaard (DEN) 23-21,21-16.
2. Robert Blair, Anthony Clarke (ENG) - Lars Paaske, Jonas Rasmussen (DEN) 23-21,17-21,21-17.

Women's Doubles

1. Gao Jun, Huang Sui (CHN) - Yu Yang, Du Jing (CHN)
2. Wei Yili, Zhang Yawen (CHN) - Yang Wei, Zhang Jiewen (CHN)

Mixed Doubles

Final Results

Men's Singles

Lin Dan finally took his first world title with a hard-fought victory against compatriot Bao Chunlai.

1. Lin Dan (CHN) - Bao Chunlai (CHN) 18-21,21-17,21-12

Women's Singles

Xie Xingfang retained her crown with a 2-0 win over Olympic champion Zhang Ning.

1. Xie Xingfang (CHN) - Zhang Ning (CHN) 21-16,21-14

Men's Doubles

The World No. 1 pair was simply dynamite in this final and smashed their way through for their first world title.

1. Fu Haifeng, Cai Yun (CHN) - Robert Blair, Anthony Clarke (ENG) 21-9,21-13

Women's Doubles

In a repeat of last year's final, Gao-Huang won a tough first set before unleashing their power in the second set to defend their title successfully.

1. Gao Jun, Huang Sui (CHN) - Wei Yili, Zhang Yawen (CHN) 23-21,21-9

Mixed Doubles

Robertson-Emms won their first world title despite not being in their best shape.
