Liu Xiang timed a new season best of 13.06s at Prefontaine Classic Grand Prix

Liu Xiang (CHN) regained the world best time this year with a 13.06 victory at the Prefontaine Classic Grand Prix meet. Athens Olympics silver medalist Terrence Trammel (USA) finished second again with a good 13.12, just 0.01 second short of his season best which was also the previous top time this year. Allen Johnson (USA) was unfortunately disqualifed from the race with a false start. In a post-race interview, Liu Xiang mentioned he was affected by the two false starts and started off the block slower than usual. This is the third time Liu Xiang has clocked 13.06 seconds and it's also his second best time ever,

Paula Radcliffe (GBR) was caught in a tumble with five other runners in the women's 1500m race and was not able to better her personal best of 4:05.37. She rarely ran this distance but had targetted a new personal best at this meet. Radcliffe finished sixth at the end with a time of 4:13.13. Olympic champion Justin Gatlin (USA) narrowly defeated Asafa Powell (JAM) to win the men's 100m sprint. Both clocked the same time of 9.84 seconds but Powell had a wind advantage of 3.4 m/s.
