2005 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships updates
Hiroyuki Tomita (JPN) and Hisashi Mizutori (JPN) clinched gold and silver in the men's all round final at the 38th Artistic Gymnastics World Championships. Tomita scored 56.698 points while Mizutori scored 55.349 points. Denis Savenkov (BLR) took the bronze medal with 55.112 points.

Chellsie Memmel (USA) and Anastasia Liukin (USA) swept the gold and silver medals for USA in the women's all round final. They scored 37.824 and 37.823 points respectively, with only 0.001 points separating them. Monette Russo (AUS) claimed the bronze medal with 37.298 points.
Kyoko Oshima (JPN), the top scorer from Asia, placed 19th with 34.236 points.

Apparatus Finals
Male gymnasts from China and Japan won four medals for Asia in the apparatus finals, with Xiao Qin (CHN) as the only male gold medalist. Cheng Fei (CHN), the only Asian female medalist, won the women's vault with her signature routine.
