Li Xiaopeng (李小鹏) hopes to have his name in the record books

Among all Chinese gymnasts, past and present, Li Ning currently holds the record of 14 gold medals awarded in major international gymnastics tournament, e.g. Olympics and World Championships.

Li Xiaopeng is right behind with 13 gold medals in the bag and going for more at the Athens Olympics.
He is aiming for 3 more gold medals and should he accomplish that, Li Xiaopeng will replace Li Ning as the successful gymnast in history.

He is favored for gold in the individual events, parallel bar and the vault which he has the most difficult routines in the world today. The third gold could come from the team event where Team China is the favourites with the depth they have.
