Lyme Road Race (3rd August)
5 laps of Swynnerton circuit, 1st lap a break of 4 got away and we didn't see 3 of them again. Was very difficult to get a chase organised loads of attacks all over the place. With 2 and a bit laps to go I tried a test attack and was practically gifted about 30 seconds, Andy Prince came across and we worked well for about 1/2 a lap. Unfortunately when we got caught and I needed a half mile to recover, Barry Charlton attacked on the outside, came past like a motorbike, and I was spat out of the back game over. Rode the last lap on my own and ended up 10th. Bongo and Deggsy also rode but neither finished unfortunately.
Joe did an excellent ride to win the over 50s race (and defend his brother's title from last year!). Was up front throughout and then put in a big attack on the last lap, 3 miles from the finish on the climb at Slindon. Paul Belfield was in the following car and said he put 150m into the other riders in the blink of an eye, then held off the pack to win by 100m.

Re: Lyme Road Race (3rd August)
Yes that was a very well timed attack by Joe on the hill at Slindon and it blew most of the field apart, there were just four left in a chasing group once we made the left turn after Slindon with three of them working very hard to try and make the catch. The lead went up and down a few times but when Joe made it to the final climb going into Swinerton (with the White House on the left) he had about a 20 metre lead and that, plus another burst going up the climb was enough to leave the chasing group fighting it out for the minor places.
Top effort from both the riders and the organisers.
