vtta 10 mile tt 24/05/2008

i braved the winds this afternoon along with several other club members to ride the vtta 10 mile tt on the k48 (A51) well i was glad to get round. the cross winds were a trifle tricky, i posted 24-18 , winners time was 21-30 i believe it was andrew moore from stafford rc, well done andrew, other club members riding today were ray hill, alan roberts, well done and thank-you to all participants and the organisers, marshalls, timekeepers and helpers and for making the event a success. had an email from the organiser today, to say that i,d won first prize based on handicap time, the teas are on me next time u catch me out on a clubrun.. cheers

Good ride in that wind big fella, me & Joe rode the 23 mile hilly TT today on part of the same course, down the A51 from Weston to Colwich, left up to the Resevoir, left all the way along to Uttoxeter and then back to Weston. Was well organised with good marshalling and some nice cakes back at the HQ.

The wind hadn't dropped from yesterday and some of the early climbs were absolute torture. The last section from Uttoxeter back to Weston was pretty quick though, there are some decent climbs along there but with such a strong tailwind I think I averaged around 27.5mph for the last 7 miles.

I managed a 1:00:12 which was worth 23rd of the 48 starters who braved the conditions. Joe said he was on a bad day but finished in 1:06:02. Rob Wood riding for Echelon Cycles won in 51:13 which is a staggering ride in that wind, well done to him.

Anyone who took part today is a hero! I was marshalling in the wind and rain and only grateful I wasn't on my bike! Well done to all who took part.
