Tysoe RR, Shipston-on-Stour - Sunday 3rd June

What excellent weather for racing!
The 4 x 15mile lap course was quite undulating, with a nasty 1.5mile climb 2mile from the finish.
It was a fast start with attacks happening straight from the off. Everything was going well, but after approx 5miles the lead car slowed right down, and I couldn't believe it! He had took us the wrong way for a mile!!! We neutralised it until we got back on track, and then the hammer went down again. Six riders had got away but they were brought back with about 7miles of the third lap left. Another attack happened straight away and three riders took off. The bunch made no reply so I thought stuff this and made a break for it. Another guy came accross and we worked together until we were caught at the start of the fourth and final lap. 12miles to go and another three man break went up the road. I tried to get accross but the effort on the previous lap had took it's toll and I just couldn't get there. Two others joined me and we left the bunch behind as we tried to get the second bunch of three back. Just 2miles left and I was starting to think about positioning for the finish, but DISASTER - REAR WHEEL PUNCTURE!!! I couldn't believe my luck, a possibility of a seventh place looked like being snatched from my grasp! As I trundled to a stop, I was at the final left turn T junction. To my left was a bike leaning up against the hedge. "CAN I HAVE YER REAR WHEEL?" I screamed, "No probs" was the marshall's reply, and we did a quick change. The bunch were approaching fast so I had to dig extra deep, and I managed to pull away and hold them off for a 9th Position finish!
Phew!!!! What a day!!!!
That marshall deserves a medal!!!!!!
