Hello and welcome to the Swanky Street message board or as I like to call it "Swanky Street-An Online Pillows Community". My name is Mellie and I am the administrator of Swanky Street and I want to take a minute to explain why I decided to start this message board in the first place.
First I want to say it wasn't because there are no other fans that have opened English message boards dedicated to The Pillows as I'm sure some of you are aware of.
Both Terra (Instant Music) and Little Buster (Terminal Heaven) do a great job of running their message boards and remain as diplomatic to thier members as possible. I however, am not quite so diplomatic.
I absolutely and completely love this band called The Pillows. They have brought me more joy musically than any other band on the planet even though I can barely understand a word they say. Their music transends language barriers, international date lines and cultural differences.
In spite of all of this, there are some people out there who call themselves fans, then get on pillows message boards and blatently disrespect this band.
Personally I can't stand it when people bash this band or any part of them. Does that mean I think their perfect? No, nothing is. But musically, in my opinion they are as close as a band can get.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think a person has to like everything about them just because they are a fan. I also think it's okay to say somthing like "I didn't like that song." or "That album wasn't their best.", ect... After all. everyone is entitled to their opinion. But how anyone could have the nerve to go to a message board dedicated to them, call themselves a fan and then turn around and bash them is completely beyond me. If people love this band like they say, or at least like them enough to join a message board dedicated to them, then as far as I'm concerned, they have no business posting rude messages about them whether they liked their last album or not.
I created this message board to get away from that and hopefully those fans that may have felt uncomfortable posting at other boards (because of the negative few) will feel comfortable posting here. I want this to be a welcoming commuity. I realize that the rules may seem rather strick to some of you but I'm simply trying to weed out the negativity and get people to understand that this is not the place for it.
I hope any fan considering joining this forum will do so and enjoy it. If people read the rules and decide they don't want to be here, that's okay too. I would rather have 5 members who respect the band enough to treat them with it, than 500 who are only here to throw around their own negative opinions.
