Katellan's Reflection for Mission #1
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Zhaipherr and his apprentices have left the Cortosis mine in the capable hands of other Unruh members who will stay there for as long as it takes the miners to mine the Cortosis vane and sell the ore to the Unruh. The trip back to the temple will take several hours, and Zhaipherr has decided to use some of that time to reflect on the mission and the actions that were taken to accomplish it, so, leaving Torris to pilot the ship, he meets with Katellan in the rear compartment.
<Zhaipherr> :: is in the rear compartment, sitting on the floor, waiting on Katellan::
<Katellan> ::walks back to the rear compartment, smiling at Zhaipherr:: Hello Master. You wanted to see me?
<Zhaipherr> :: nods and motions for Katellan to sit across from him:: Katellan: Yes, sit.
<Katellan> ::nods and sits down on the floor across from Zhaipherr::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: I called you here because after a mission, no matter how easy or difficult it may be, you should always take time to look back on it. While it is true that we cannot change the past, he who does not pay attention to his past mistakes is doomed to repeat them.
<Katellan> ::nods:: And I would surely not like to repeat having a large boulder held over my head.
<Zhaipherr> :: smiles:: Katellan: That was less of a mistake and more a lack of information on the Sith. You see, there are few members of the Unruh that were once full fledged Sith, so we unfortunately cannot teach every student all there is to know about them. Not like the Jedi, of which we have had several to become teachers and inform the students about the Jedi and their ways.
<Katellan> ::smiles:: Well then, I'm glad to know that at least was not a mistake. I'm sure I made enough others.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Yes there were mistakes, but you must always remember, everyone makes mistakes, but if you look back and remember them, you will make fewer and fewer each time.
<Katellan> ::shrugs a bit:: Of course.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Now, why did you prefer the blaster on the mission until I called you in to fight close?
<Katellan> Because I know the effect I can have with a blaster, and I was not certain that my practice saber would do much good in the long run.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: I have never met a being who did not have doubts, however, doubting your own skills is something you must try hard never to do, if you don't believe in your own skills then the enemy already has the advantage. Do you understand?
<Katellan> ::nods:: Yes Master, and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised at what I did accomplish. It is a lesson I will surely remember.
<Zhaipherr> :: smiles:: Katellan: Yes, you did very well. I would like to take credit for teaching you that, but I guess I can't, yet. :: laughs::
<Katellan> ::smiles at him:: Zhaipherr: I am sure there will be plenty in my future that you will be able to take credit for Master.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: And you as well. One day you will have advanced to the point where there is nothing more I can teach you, and that day you will cease to be an Apprentice, and become a Knight. Once you pass the trials of course. :: smiles:: But that day is a ways off I would imagine. Seeing as how we have only just begun.
<Katellan> ::laughs and shakes her head:: Zhaipherr: A day I find difficult to even imagine.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Keep an open mind, open ears, and open eyes, and that day will be upon you sooner than you think. Now, back to the reflection.
<Katellan> ::nods::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: So, you chose to use the blaster because you trusted your skills with it more than your skills with the training saber?
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Not quite. I knew that I had the skill to use the saber, but I was not sure that a practice saber would have much effect on the outcome of the battle.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: I see, and why did you think that?
<Katellan> ::grins a bit:: Zhaipherr: Because someone I hit with a blaster does not generally get back up again soon. The practice saber does not do as much damage. ::shrugs::
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Yes, but can a blaster defend against a saber strike? There are advantages and disadvantages to every weapon.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: One of the advantages to a blaster being that it is not necessary to get close enough to make defending against a saber strike necessary. But I do take your point. ::smiles::
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: This is true, however, you should never trust the advantages of a weapon and simply hope that the disadvantages don't come into play. A true warrior is able to judge different situations and adapt accordingly, whether that requires a change of tactics, a change of location, or a change of weapon.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: Yes Master, I will remember that.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Do you feel safer with that saber than your practice one? Do you think you will no longer need your blaster?
<Katellan> ::thinks for a moment:: Zhaipherr: I do feel safer with this one, though I now know not to underestimate my practice saber. As for my blaster, I do not think I absolutely need it anymore, but is it not prudent to keep one around precisely because it does have the advantage of a greater range?
<Zhaipherr> :: nods and smiles:: Katellan: Yes, as powerful a weapon as a light saber is, it too has certain advantages and disadvantages. However, one day your blaster too will be replaced by a more powerful weapon, just like your training saber.
<Katellan> ::raises an eyebrow:: Zhaipherr: A more powerful replacement?
<Zhaipherr> ::nods:: Katellan: Weapons have always, and will always be improved upon or replaced by better ones. That is the nature of things. I too, used to rely on a blaster for occasions when my saber failed me, that is, until I learned of this little device from the Sith. :: smirks and extends his arm sideways, pointing it towards the side wall::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: He made no movement with his hand or arm, yet from somewhere inside his sleeve, above his hand, something thin and very fast flies out, striking the far wall and sticking there, it moved too fast to tell what it was in mid-flight.
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Wow. What was that?
<Zhaipherr> :: motions for Katellan to go take a look::
<Katellan> ::gets up from the floor and walks over to the wall, looking at the object sticking in it::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: On closer inspection the projectile appears to be a bladed, black metal disk with streaks of green in it here and there. It is lodged just over halfway into the wall. The disk is roughly hand width but only about an eighth inch thick.
<Katellan> ::walks back over to Zhaipherr and sits down:: Zhaipherr: Very nice. No wonder you don't carry a blaster.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: The Sith Lanvarok is a capable replacement to the blaster, it requires crafting new disks, or retrieving the old ones though, but that is not such a high price. But back to the mission.
<Katellan> ::nods and listens, not bothering to ask about her own...she knows he will mention it again when he feels she is ready for one::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Now, on this mission you not only killed a Jedi, but also a Sith. How does that make you feel? Thinking back on it.
<Katellan> ::frowns, thinking:: Zhaipherr: I know that the death of one of each keeps the Balance in the Force. But even knowing that, as someone who has spent a lot of my life healing the sick and injured, I would always prefer not to kill if I do not need to. However, I understand that the necessity does sometimes occur.

Katellan's Reflection for Mission #1 (Part 2)
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: So you always prefer to avoid killing? Then why did you prefer killing strikes early on instead of simply disabling blows?
<Katellan> ::shrugs:: Zhaipherr: It is difficult to explain, and I do not think you will like the answer, but I will try. In principal, I prefer not to kill someone unless I have to, but you read my files. Sometimes, when faced with an attack by a man, memories come back.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: So you blame your past for your mistakes in the present? Tell me, have those memories and feelings ever gotten you into trouble?
<Katellan> ::shakes her head:: Zhaipherr: I know well enough to realize that not all of my mistakes can be traced to my past. And no, so far I have not gotten into any trouble.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: I see, well you would be wise to not let those memories continue to sway your judgment and actions, otherwise one day they will get you into trouble, trouble you might not be able to get out of. I know, believe me.
<Katellan> ::sighs and nods:: Zhaipherr: I know Master, and I fight the memories every day. As time passes, the fight is easier to win.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: There will be a day when you will no longer have to fight them at all. You should always remember the past, but also remember that it *is* the past, not the present.
<Katellan> ::smiles:: Zhaipherr: And it is that knowledge that allows me to keep going, and to keep fighting. I am stronger than most people seem to think. ::shrugs::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: You are only as strong as *you* think and believe you are. The opinions of others are unimportant.
<Katellan> ::laughs:: Zhaipherr: Which, in many cases, is a very good thing.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Now, in the last fight with the Sith, you fought well, a Sith Force Knight is not an easy opponent to overcome. You kept calm, did not let him distract you with words or illusions. And you kept your eyes open for his tricks. To tell you the truth I was a bit worried about you during that fight, but I too was pleasantly surprised. :: smiles::
<Katellan> ::smiles and looks at the floor in front of her, a bit embarrassed at the praise::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Thank you, Master.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: However.
<Katellan> ::looks back up, listening::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: You should never check a fallen enemy by walking up to them, feigning death or unconsciousness is an old trick, but one that claims the lives of a surprising number of people.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: And almost claimed mine.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: As I said before, you were not properly informed about the Sith's penchant for attempting to take their enemies with them to the grave. However had you not been so close he would have had to try something else that might have given away that he was still alive and awake.
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: So the best thing to do when a Sith is down is to wait?
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: No, the force can be used to check their condition. Without having to walk up to them and put yourself at risk.
<Katellan> ::nods::
<Zhaipherr> :: thinks for a few moments, running the mission over in his mind before speaking again:: Katellan: So what have you learned from reflecting on the mission?
<Katellan> ::looks down at the floor for a few minutes, thinking, then back up:: Zhaipherr: To not underestimate my abilities, a deathblow is not always the best, and to stay away from a downed Sith.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Very good. Now, please give me back that saber. :: extends his hand::
<Katellan> ::hands the saber to him::
<Zhaipherr> :: takes the saber and clips it onto his belt next to his:: Katellan: Since you believe you are ready for a true saber of your own you will need to construct one, I will help you find the crystals if you wish, but you must build it on your own. The Force will guide you through the process, feel it out, and trust what you create. Understand?
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: Yes Master, and I would appreciate assistance in finding the crystals.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: I will check with the Masters and find a convenient time to search for them once we get back. Other than that, just keep training, and think about what you learned on this mission. Understood?
<Katellan> ::nods again:: Zhaipherr: Yes Master
<Zhaipherr> :: stands, extending his hand, there is a grinding sound before the Lanvarok disk pulls itself free from the wall and flies back into his sleeve:: Katellan: Now, lets get back to the c0ckpit and see how Torris is doing piloting the ship. :: smiles and heads out of the room::
<Katellan> ::stands and follows him, thinking that we'd know it by now if he were doing a bad job of it::
<Zhaipherr> <<<<<End>>>>>

Katellan's Crystal Search Location 1 (Part 1)
<Grey> PRELUDE: It has been only a day since Katellan and her Master returned to the temple with the new recruit, Tiinaxl. Now they are away again, but not on a mission this time, but to search for a Saber Crystal..
<Grey> They have been in hyperspace for several hours already, and it will be a little bit longer before they reach the system where the first Force concentration location is.
<Grey> <<<<<<Begin>>>>>>
<Katellan> ::leans back in the c0ckpit chair and watches the star lines stream by::
<Zhaipherr> :: checks the nav computer again to see how far it is until the drop from hyperspace, leaning back in his seat and sighing, he hates just sitting around::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: How much longer does that thing say it will be?
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Not long. But time always seems to move slower in hyperspace. :: decides talking would pass the time as well as anything:: So, what made you decide on the Alzoc system?
<Katellan> ::shrugs:: Two things really... it was one of the ones listed with a high concentration, and the equipment we need to explore it was available at the Temple.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: I see. So what do you think of our friend from the mines?
<Katellan> ::thinks for a moment:: I am not sure yet Master. He is strong in the Force, but when we met him it seemed as though he wanted little to do with any organized group. I hope he likes it with us though. It is much better than being alone...
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Yes. The Masters didn't agree with my recommendation of him as a student. I hope he decides to stay. I see great potential in him.
<Katellan> ::nods:: I agree. He seems very strong and would likely make a great ally, though it seemed on the transport like he was unwilling to injure the Sith if he did not have to. If he avoids harming others, it could become a problem.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Well, once he was forced he fought back fiercely, he even killed the Sith when the situation required it. So once he has a mission, and a known enemy, I believe he will do fine.
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: If he decides he likes us that is. ::smiles::
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Well, you put it best, it is much better than being alone. :: smiles, turning to the console when a beeping indicates the approaching drop from hyperspace::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The nav computer kicks in a few minutes later, dropping the ship from lightspeed into the Alzoc system.
<Katellan> ::shrugs:: Zhaipherr: There were times in my past where I actually wished to be alone though.
<Katellan> ::looks out at the frozen planets of the system::
<Zhaipherr> :: hears Katellan and almost asks about her words, but decides it can wait as he looks out at the Alzoc system::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: The data from the Archives says it's the third planet out from the star.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods and takes the ship off autopilot, before leaning back in his chair again:: Katellan: Alright, take us in. :: motions to the co-pilot's controls at her seat and folds his arms::
<Katellan> ::takes the controls and looks over the computer readouts before heading for the third planet::
<Zhaipherr> :: looks out the viewport::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After several minutes of flying Katellan brings the ship close enough to Alzoc III to see it on the viewport.
<Katellan> ::smiles:: Zhaipherr: Well there it is. The Archives said the concentration is near the north pole.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: And is it? Can you feel it?
<Katellan> ~~~reaches out to the planet with the Force, feeling for the right area~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan feels a strong concentration of the Force near the planet's northern pole. It feels faint though, as if muffled by something, but it is there.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: I feel it Master, though muffled. According to the Archives the highest concentration is about a kilometer under the ice. So that's likely what is muffling it.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Very good, alright take us down.
<Katellan> ::nods and guides the ship into the atmosphere, checking the sensors for a landing spot near the north pole::
<Zhaipherr> :: looks out over the ice, reaching over and flipping the switch to tint the viewport and shield them from the super bright snow::
<Katellan> ::finds a spot about a kilometer from the pole that seems flat and has a crack nearby, and takes the ship down for a landing::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan manages to set the ship down with no problems, if a little bumpy.
<Katellan> ::shuts down the engines and heads into the back, starting to get into all the snow and ice gear::
<Zhaipherr> :: stands and moves to the back, grabbing a pack and moving to the hatch, raising the hood on his cloak::
<Katellan> ::grabs her blaster and a pack full of climbing gear and hits the button to open the hatch::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The hatch opens and a rush of cold air floods in.
<Katellan> ::shivers, more out of instinct than being cold, and starts down the ramp::
<Zhaipherr> :: pulls his cloak a little tighter and calls on the Force, before following Katellan down the ramp::
<Katellan> ::steps out onto the icy surface and waits for Zhaipherr to join her before ~~~closing the hatch to the ship~~~
<Zhaipherr> :: watches the hatch close and turns to Katellan, speaking loudly so that she can hear him over the strong winds:: Katellan: Ok, lead on.
<Katellan> ::nods, but decides not to fight the wind with her voice, and walks over to the edge of the crack, searching for a good way down::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The crack is long, and looks deep, but it is too narrow to fit through.
<Katellan> ::looks over at Zhaipherr:: Can you cut this big enough to get into Master? Perhaps it will lead us where we need to go.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods, drawing his saber and cutting the crack so that it is wide enough to fit through::
<Katellan> ::secures a hook into the ice at the top of the cliff, hooks a cable to it, and pulls, leaning back to check the hold::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan's cable seems to be holding as he leans out.
<Katellan> ::nods and waves to Zhaipherr, then starts climbing carefully down into the crack::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Once down through the three meter thick ice layer, Katellan finds herself hanging in a dark open space.
<Katellan> ~~~concentrates on the surrounding area, trying to get an idea of the space around her~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: There is a bright flash, only in Katellan's vision, and she can see in the dark, finding herself hanging in a very large cavern under the ice, the bottom is roughly thirty meters below her.
<Zhaipherr> :: leans down and looks through the crack, spotting Katellan hanging below the ice layer:: Katellan: See anything?
<Katellan> ::yells back up:: Zhaipherr: The cavern here is rather large, but deep. I'll have to go to the bottom to see if there are any openings.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Alright. But don't yell if you find something, just let out a small wave of Force energy, I don't want that cavern collapsing with you inside it. :: smiles and moves away from the crack::
<Katellan> ::nods and waves as his head disappears, then lets herself down carefully, but at a decent speed::
<Zhaipherr> :: as Katellan descends, he opens his pack and gets out his own hook and cable::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan manages to reach the bottom of the cavern, it's a bit slippery, but once there she can see three smaller openings leading off in different directions. Two lead in the general direction of the pole.
<Katellan> ~~~sends a small Force wave up to Zhaipherr~~~
<Zhaipherr> :: senses the wave of Force energy and attaches his hook and cable near her's, before entering the crack in the ice and descending quickly, using the Force to slow his fall and catch him before he hits the bottom::
<Zhaipherr> :: unhooks his cable, leaving it hanging and moves to Katellan, looking at the openings:: Katellan: Alright, which one?
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: There are two that head in the right direction Master? Is there a way I can tell which to take, or should I just flip a coin? ::smiles::
<Zhaipherr> :: smiles, stretching out with the Force to see which tunnel is the correct one:: Katellan: You should never have to flip a coin Apprentice. :: smiles::
<Katellan> ::laughs:: Zhaipherr: It was a figure of speech Master.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: So, which one?
<Katellan> ~~~uses the Force to feel down each of the two tunnels~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan gets different feelings from each tunnel, down the left one she can feel the Force very strongly, however it also feels very muffled. Down the right tunnel the feeling of the Force is much weaker, but also not as muffled.
<Katellan> ::frowns::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: It is weaker in this tunnel.. :: points:: but not muffled as much as the other...
<Zhaipherr> :: folds his arms and doesn't say anything::
<Katellan> ::sighs and makes up her mind:: Zhaipherr: It will do no good to go down the muffled tunnel and risk a cave-in by cutting through the obstruction. ::heads for the entrance to the tunnel with the weaker, but less muffled feeling::
<Zhaipherr> :: smiles and follows behind her::
<Katellan> ::continues down the tunnel, still using the Force to see::

Katellan's Crystal Search Location 1 (Part 2)
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After a half hour of walking, and sometimes crawling, Katellan feels the Force more strongly up ahead.
<Katellan> ::smiles and walks a bit faster, but still carefully:: Zhaipherr: I think we're getting closer Master.
<Zhaipherr> :: stays quiet and follows::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After a few more minutes, Katellan exits the tunnel into another large cavern, except in this one there is a layer of mist clouding the entire bottom of it to about waist high. This is the cavern where the Force concentration is though, she can feel that.
<Katellan> ::hesitates at the end of the tunnel, looking suspiciously at the mist::
<Zhaipherr> :: sees Katellan stop in front of him:: Katellan: What's wrong?
<Katellan> ~~~feels the concentration around the cavern, trying to pinpoint a more specific location~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The Force is concentrated all over in the cavern, it is not coming from a specific part or object in it.
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Mist Master...waist high. I have no way to know what is under it and nothing to poke with. I don't wish to walk into a pit.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods, motioning for her to step aside::
<Katellan> ::steps aside to allow Zhaipherr to pass::
<Zhaipherr> :: steps up to the opening:: Katellan: You cannot think of a way to get rid of this mist?
<Katellan> ::smiles at him:: Zhaipherr: Huff and puff and blow the mist down?
<Zhaipherr> :: raises an eyebrow and shakes his head:: Katellan: What can knock a man backwards should be able to move mist, wouldn't you think? :: smiles::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Not in all cases Master. I can shove a man and knock him backwards, but shoving the mist in the same way would not affect it. I do however, know a way. ::smiles::
<Zhaipherr> :: nods, smirking a bit at her logic since she knew what he meant and steps back once again::
<Katellan> ~~~reaches out to the Force, sending a Force wave into the mist~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The mist is pushed aside, revealing a two foot ledge at their tunnel opening, as well as a larger eight to ten foot ledge against the back wall of the cavern and up a foot, however there is a thirty foot gap between the two.
<Katellan> ::takes an involuntary step back, even though she was nowhere near the edge:: Zhaipherr: I guess it's a good thing we didn't take a step Master...
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Can you tell how deep it is?
<Zhaipherr> :: steps forward onto the small ledge and looks down, calling on the Force to help him see to the bottom:: Katellan: I see something that could be the bottom, but it's so far down I'm not really sure. That's the downside to using the Force to see in the dark, everything is the same color. :: laughs::
<Katellan> ::laughs:: Zhaipherr: But it is a very nice color Master.
<Zhaipherr> :: thinks for a moment then nods:: Katellan: Yes, I suppose it is.
<Katellan> ::frowns and thinks:: Zhaipherr: There is no way the cables we have will reach that deep. Perhaps there is something on the wall though...
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Perhaps. :: folds his arms again and leans against the wall next to the tunnel they just came out of::
<Katellan> ::takes the other hook from her pack, pounding it into the rock, securing a cable to it, and testing it::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: This cable also feels secure.
<Katellan> ::drops over the edge and carefully lowers herself down, scanning every inch of wall she can see::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: As Katellan lowers herself down, she doesn't find any crystals forming on the side of the wall she is on. She feels a rush of air pass over her head above her and feel a slight surge in the Force though.
<Katellan> ::looks back up, wondering what it was that she felt, and very carefully starts back to the top::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: When Katellan reaches the top and climbs back onto the small ledge she notices that Zhaipherr isn't on it, nor can she see him down the tunnel they came in through.
<Katellan> ::looks across to the other side of the gap::
<Zhaipherr> :: waves at Katellan from his position leaning against the far wall, standing on the larger ledge::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Can you see anything over there Master?
<Zhaipherr> :: looks down at his feet and nods:: Katellan: Yep.
<Katellan> ::laughs:: Zhaipherr: Other than your feet.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods again:: Katellan: Yep.
<Katellan> ::thinks:: Zhaipherr: Considering my inaccuracy the last time I tried a Force jump, I would prefer not to practice in a place where it could kill me. Master, can you please help me across?
<Zhaipherr> :: nods, stepping away from the wall and extending his hands, calling on the Force::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan finds herself lifted into the air and moved across the gap to him.
<Katellan> ::smiles at him when her feet hit the ground again:: Zhaipherr: Thank you Master, but I do apologize that I could not do it myself.
<Katellan> ::looks around, and down, to see if there is anything other than feet on the ledge::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: There is no shame in asking for help when you believe something is beyond your abilities. Only a fool tries to do everything themselves, and fools usually tend to die early.
<Katellan> ::laughs:: Zhaipherr: A good reason to make every attempt at not being foolish.
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan spots several crystals in a few clusters formed on the ledge.
<Katellan> ::reaches into her pack for a glowrod, then stops seeing with the Force before lighting it, trying to get a better idea what color they are::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The crystals look a little greenish, but that could be because of the glowrod's slightly green tinted light.
<Katellan> ::frowns, looking closer to see if any look more like a greenish-blue::
<Katellan> ::shrugs and breaks off one piece of the proper size from each cluster, putting them carefully into one of the inner pockets of her pack::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: As Katellan is messing with her pack she feels another surge in the force and rush of air.
<Katellan> ::looks across the gap again, smiling::
<Zhaipherr> :: turns around and looks at Katellan from across the gap::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: May I please have a ride back Master?
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: You want to try jumping it? I can catch you.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Just focus on where you want the Force to carry you to. Not on how much energy is required to lengthen your jump distance.
<Katellan> ::smiles and nods:: Zhaipherr: All right Master. ~~~reaches out to the Force to jump over the pit~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The Force swirls around Katellan as she leaps, carrying her across the gap, however when she lands on the ice she slips and falls backwards, but finds herself laying almost horizontal over the gap, being held up by something.
<Katellan> ::smiles after the initial shock:: Zhaipherr: I am easier to hold than the boulder I hope. Thank you again though.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods and lifts Katellan again, setting her down on the ledge near him::
<Katellan> ::feels a good deal better with her feet under her and leads the way back through the tunnel:: Zhaipherr: You know Master, that would be a quite comfortable way to sleep. ::laughs::
<Zhaipherr> :: looks at her, a bit surprised at her shift in topic, and simply nods, following her::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: So...now what? Do I go back to the Archives for information on building sabers?
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: The archives do not have specific information on building a saber.
<Katellan> ::frowns:: Zhaipherr: So how do I know what to do Master?
<Zhaipherr> :: smiles:: Katellan: You already know half of what you need, the Force will tell you the rest.
<Katellan> ::thinks:: Zhaipherr: I do? Is it similar to a practice saber then?
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Similar, but much more complex.
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: So that is why I know half of what I need?
<Zhaipherr> :: nods, following her into the first cavern::
<Katellan> ::heads over to the bottom of their cables, grabbing onto hers and tugging at it a bit before putting her full weight on it::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Once again the cable seems to hold.
<Katellan> ::smiles at Zhaipherr:: See you at the top Master.
<Katellan> ::starts back up her cable::
<Zhaipherr> :: starts gathering the Force around himself as Katellan's retractable cable pulls her to the top in a few minutes::
<Zhaipherr> :: looks up and jumps, using the Force to propel him up and out through the crack once Katellan is through it onto the surface::
<Katellan> ::smiles and shakes her head::
<Katellan> :: puts her cable back in her pack and pulls out the hook, putting it in the pack as well::
<Zhaipherr> :: extends his hand and pulls his hook to his hand, pushing the button to retract the cable and putting it all away in his pack once it has::
<Katellan> :: peeks into the pocket in her pack, looking to see what colors the crystals are in the sunlight::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The three crystals are light red, dark green, and pale green.
<Katellan> ::frowns and closes her pack:: Zhaipherr: I was hoping to find a blue one. Though I would like some focusing crystals. Maybe I can find a blue crystal while searching for those. :: picks up her pack and starts for the ship::
<Zhaipherr> :: nods at Katellan, remembering how many planets he had to check to find the rare color crystals for his::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: They reach the ship and reenter it, Zhaipherr letting Katellan pilot once again, she takes them out of the atmosphere and the nav computer makes the jump back into hyperspace, starting the several hour long trip back to the temple...
<Zhaipherr> <<<<<End>>>>>>

Katellan's Crystal Search Location 2 (Part 1)
<Grey> PRELUDE: Not having any luck finding a pair of focusing crystals to go with the colored crystals Katellan found on Alzoc III. She and her Master have left the temple once again to search for some, this time heading to the water planet Pydyr, equipped with underwater gear.
<Grey> They are now a short ways from the drop from hyperspace near Pydyr. After another long hyperspace trip.
<Grey> <<<<<Begin>>>>>>
<Katellan> ::stares at the star trails again:: Zhaipherr: I think we spend way too much time in hyperspace Master...
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Yes, a necessary annoyance I'm afraid. :: sighs, getting up and moving to the center chamber through the open hatch, drawing and igniting both sabers upon reaching the center::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Suddenly the center room is flooded with round flying remote droids from a hidden panel in the ceiling. They start buzzing around, firing at Zhaipherr.
<Zhaipherr> :: spins his sabers in a flurry of fiery motion, blocking and deflecting the fire from the remotes, but not attacking just yet::
<Katellan> ::watches Zhaipherr practice, ducking a bit lower in her chair and keeping a hand on her training saber::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After a half hour of constantly deflecting random fire from all of the droids, they suddenly stop firing, returning to their place inside the ceiling.
<Katellan> ::smiles:: Zhaipherr: Very nice Master
<Zhaipherr> :: deactivates his sabers and puts them away on his belt, breathing a bit heavily and sitting on the floor::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Come here.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: Yes Master. ::gets up and walks into the center room::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Draw your saber.
<Katellan> ::ignites her practice saber::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Defend yourself. :: following his words is a slight metal on metal sliding sound, and remotes enter the room from the ceiling once again, less than before however, this time only six::
<Katellan> ::nods and stands in a defensive position, saber raised, watching the remotes::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The remotes circle Katellan for a few moments before firing off a couple of shots at her.
<Katellan> ::swings her saber, intercepting the shots::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan manages to deflect the shots, however once she moves the remotes step up their attacks, firing rapidly and moving randomly.
<Katellan> ::ducks and dodges, swinging her saber as the bolts fly::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan continues to deflect the fire and keep it from hitting her. However there have been several close ones. And the remotes are getting more and more difficult to defend against, as their tactics keep rotating.
<Katellan> ~~~reaches out to the Force, concentrating on the remotes and trying to predict their movements, swinging her saber accordingly~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The Force swirls in the room, telling Katellan where to move and swing her saber to deflect the shots.
<Zhaipherr> :: waves his hand and the remotes stop, returning to their place in the ceiling, and stands, turning to face Katellan::
<Katellan> ::nods at Zhaipherr::
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Very good Apprentice. Would you like to step it up a notch? Or are you done training for the day? :: smiles::
<Katellan> ::shrugs and smiles:: Zhaipherr: I am never done training Master, but shouldn't we be nearing the drop from hyperspace by now?
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: The computer will let us know when we're nearing the drop.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: All right then. Let's keep going.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Good, then attack me.
<Katellan> ::steps back, surprised:: Zhaipherr: Are you sure Master?
<Zhaipherr> :: smiles:: Katellan: Afraid you'll hurt me with a practice saber?
<Katellan> ::shakes her head:: Zhaipherr: Well no...but... ::shrugs and raises her saber, swinging at his right arm::
<Zhaipherr> :: Katellan's swing meets only air as he sidesteps quickly to avoid it:: Katellan: Come on! You can do better than that. I said attack me!
<Katellan> ::steps forward, swinging her saber low, aiming for his legs::
<Zhaipherr> :: draws his saber quickly to block the strike:: Katellan: Better. :: steps back after blocking the strike, holding his saber casually at his side::
<Katellan> ::steps forward again, bringing her saber down from the top toward his shoulder::
<Zhaipherr> :: brings his saber up once more, blocking her strike, however this time he moves into the hit, knocking her off balance a little from the clashing of their sabers::
<Katellan> ::takes a step back to keep her balance, spinning and ducking, swinging at his legs again::
<Zhaipherr> :: swings his saber downwards, blocking the strike and dancing backwards away from her several steps::
<Katellan> ::tucks her head and rolls toward him, coming out of the roll at his feet and swinging at the level of his knees before rolling off to the side::
<Zhaipherr> :: waits until just before her strike and jumps, pulling his body into a back flip and landing on his feet just behind his previous location:: Katellan: You are only using half of your knowledge. Why aren't you using the Force?
<Katellan> ~~~concentrates on the Force, trying to predict his next counter~~~ ::stands and steps forward, swinging at his right shoulder::
<Zhaipherr> :: swings to counter her strike, exactly where and when the Force tells her he would::
<Katellan> ::changes the direction of her swing at the last minute, aiming below his counterstrike::
<Zhaipherr> :: his counter misses her new strike, as it was meant for her old one, allowing her new strike to connect:: Katellan: Better! Much better. :: steps back and puts his saber away, just before a chime rings through the ship, signaling that they have reached the drop from hyperspace::
<Katellan> ::shuts down her lightsaber, breathing a bit heavy:: Zhaipherr: Sounds like we're almost there.
<Zhaipherr> Katellan: Yes. :: moves back to the c0ckpit, but not sitting, waiting for the nav computer to make the drop from hyperspace, as it does soon afterwards::
<Katellan> ::walks to the c0ckpit, looking out the viewport at the system::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The ship drops from lightspeed, the planet Pydyr ahead of them in the viewport.
<Katellan> ::sits in the pilot's seat and takes the ship in toward the planet::
<Zhaipherr> :: watches Katellan fly the ship towards the planet, and enter the atmosphere::
<Katellan> ~~~reaches out to the Force, searching for the right area of the planet~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The Force tells Katellan that the concentration she is looking for is on the planet's equator, in the middle of one of it's deepest oceans.
<Katellan> ::shakes her head and mumbles:: Figures... ::heads the ship in that direction, looking for a place to land on the edge of the ocean in question::
<Katellan> ::realizes the edge will be way too far away, and steers back out to sea, scanning the surface for some of the deep sea mining rigs she spotted on the way over::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The mining rigs are set up fairly far from each other, however there is a large one very close to the concentration location, and it does have a built on landing pad, two in fact, and one looks empty.
<Katellan> Katellan - Rig]: This is the research vessel Corellian Comet calling deep-sea mining rig. Do you read?
<Zhaipherr> <Rig> Rig - Comet]: This is the Pydyr deep-sea mining rig , we read you, how can we be of assistance?
<Katellan> Comet - Rig]: We request permission to land so that we can descend to the sea floor and do some research.
<Zhaipherr> <Rig> Rig - Comet]: Permission granted, land on pad two.
<Katellan> Comet - Rig]: Acknowledged. Thank you.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Very good.
<Katellan> ::smiles at Zhaipherr and flies over to the rig to land::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Thank you Master. ::sets the ship carefully down on pad two::

Katellan's Crystal Search Location 2 (Part 2)
<Zhaipherr> :: moves back to the hatch once Katellan sets the ship down, opening it and waiting on her::
<Katellan> :: powers down the engines and walks back to the hatch, grabbing her
pack of underwater equipment on the way::
<Zhaipherr> :: closes the hatch after Katellan exits the ship, looking around::
<Katellan> ::stands on the landing pad, looking around at all the water::
<Zhaipherr> <Officer> :: approaches the landing pad, flanked by a pair of large guards:: Both: Greetings. I am Meron, I am the Organizing Officer of this mining platform.
<Katellan> ::smiles:: Meron: Greetings. My name is Katellan. Thank you for the permission to land.
<Zhaipherr> <Meron> :: nods:: Katellan: Yes yes. Now may I see your certification to conduct research in this area. :: extends his hand::
<Zhaipherr> :: watches Katellan speak with the Officer::
<Katellan> ::looks over at Zhaipherr with an eyebrow raised:: Zhaipherr: Do you have it or was it left on board?
<Zhaipherr> :: turns to the Officer and his two guards, waving his hand:: All: We do not need certification. We are expected. You will show us to the lift to the tunnels and call ahead about our arrival so that we are not stopped.
<Zhaipherr> <Meron> Both: You do not need certification. You are expected. I will show you to the lift to the tunnels and call ahead about your arrival so you are not stopped. :: his voice bland and his gaze blank as he recites the words, the guards echoing his words quietly::
<Zhaipherr> Meron: Very good. You are an excellent Organization Officer. You deserve a raise in pay. :: following Meron and the guards::
<Katellan> ::smiles and follows Zhaipherr::
<Zhaipherr> <Meron> :: leads them to the lift, opening it for them, speaking quietly:: All: I am an excellent Officer, I deserve a raise in pay.
<Zhaipherr> :: enters the lift:: Meron: Now, you will return to your duties after calling ahead about us, you are very busy.
<Zhaipherr> <Meron> :: recites Zhaipherr's words blandly as he turns and walks back to his work area::
<Zhaipherr> :: shakes his head, smiling a bit, and pushes the button for the lowest level::
<Katellan> ::smiles at Zhaipherr:: Zhaipherr: Thank you. I am not good enough at that yet to trust it when it's important.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: You should not rely on it even when you are good enough. As I've said before. It is fast and easy sometimes. But talking your way out of a situation is usually better in the long run.
<Katellan> ::nods:: Zhaipherr: Yes Master, I understand
<Zhaipherr> :: waits as the lift speeds underwater, deeper and deeper until it reaches the lowest level of the mining tunnels::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The lift opens, showing a well lit tunnel, several miners can be seen working there.
<Katellan> ::steps out of the lift into the tunnel::
<Zhaipherr> :: exits the lift also, speaking low so that the miners can't hear:: Katellan: Alright, which way?
<Katellan> ~~~reaches out, feeling for the right direction~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: Katellan feels a strong Force concentration to her right, there is a tunnel leading in that direction.
<Katellan> :: points to the right, then starts that way:: Zhaipherr: This way.
<Zhaipherr> :: follows Katellan::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After several minutes of following the tunnel, and Katellan's feeling, the pair arrives at the end of the tunnel.
<Katellan> ::frowns:: Zhaipherr: I guess this is a dead end. We'll have to find
another one going in this direction... ::heads back the way they came::
<Zhaipherr> :: follows Katellan::
<Katellan> ::reaches the lift again and follows the tunnel going straight out from there, looking for another one branching off to the right::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After a few minutes of searching, Katellan finds what could be another tunnel leading the right direction off the main tunnel, however it is blocked by locked door with a warning sign hanging on it.
<Katellan> ::reads the sign::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The sign reads "Danger, tunnel unstable, restricted, contact your supervisor if you must access this tunnel.".
<Katellan> ::looks over at Zhaipherr:: Zhaipherr: What do you think? If there is a hole in the tunnel we can get out to the sea floor that way, but I doubt it will be easy to talk them into opening this door..
<Zhaipherr> :: looks around, not seeing anyone close by:: Katellan: Who said we have to talk them into opening it? :: smiles, drawing his saber and slicing the lock off of the door in one smooth motion, catching it with the Force before it hits the floor and makes noise::
<Katellan> ::smiles and nods at him, looking over her shoulder before very carefully easing the door open a crack, just in case there's water behind it::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: No water can be seen behind the door, and the Force did not alert Katellan to any serious danger.
<Katellan> ::opens the door far enough to fit her, and slips through, waiting inside the tunnel for Zhaipherr::
<Zhaipherr> :: slides through the door behind Katellan, closing it behind himself::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: This tunnel is smaller than the others, and lit only with red emergency lights. There are small puddles of water in places on the floor and dripping can be heard.
<Katellan> ::looks around, very carefully walking down the tunnel::
<Zhaipherr> :: follows Katellan once again::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After another several minutes of walking carefully down the tunnel, Katellan comes to another dead end, however to one side is what looks like the inner hatch to an air lock, however the edges of it are where the dripping is coming from.
<Katellan> ::eyes the dripping water:: Zhaipherr: I think we're going to get wet Master.
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: Good thing we brought underwater gear then huh?
<Katellan> ::smiles and nods, getting out her underwater suit and slipping into it::
<Zhaipherr> :: turns away, taking his rebreather out and fitting it in his mouth::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: I want to push the water back before I open the door Master, but I do not want it to crash against us afterward. Can you help me?
<Zhaipherr> :: nods, turning back:: Katellan: Yes. I'll open the hatch. You just concentrate on the water.
<Katellan> ::nods and puts her rebreather in:: ~~~reaches out to the Force, concentrating on the water behind the door, trying to push it back far enough to make a space for them~~~
<Zhaipherr> :: moves forward, opening the hatch, spotting a small space of open air behind the door with the water being held back, the space looks large enough for them to stand in, but it will be cramped:: Katellan: Step inside.
<Katellan> ::nods and quickly steps into the open space::
<Zhaipherr> :: follows Katellan into the air lock space, closing the hatch behind them::
<Katellan> ~~~lets her control of the water slowly lessen, allowing it to flow back into the space, hopefully slowly~~~
<Zhaipherr> :: adds a little control of his own to Katellan's so that she doesn't let the water go too soon, and soon the two were in water, looking at a broken outer airlock hatch, hanging open::
<Katellan> ~~~reaches out again, looking for the Force location~~~
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The location feels to be under them.
<Katellan> ::raises an eyebrow and looks down::
<Zhaipherr> :: follows Katellan's gaze downward, looking at the floor::
<Katellan> ::shrugs and steps out of the airlock, keeping an eye on the ground beneath her feet::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The airlock opens into open ocean.
<Katellan> ::starts walking downhill::
<Zhaipherr> :: exits the airlock, following Katellan::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After descending the mountain for an hour, the two run into an opening or cave of some kind, leading back into the mountain.

Katellan's Crystal Search Location 2 (Part 3)
<Katellan> ::gets a glowrod from her pack and lights it, walking into the cave carefully::
<Zhaipherr> :: follows Katellan into the opening::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The cave is dark and long, but they finally reach the end, which curves sharply upwards to continue for several meters.
<Katellan> ::holds the glowrod out in front of her, trying to see what's up there::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: There is a slight glow coming from up the tunnel, and Katellan feels that the concentration is up there.
<Katellan> :: swims up farther into the tunnel::
<Zhaipherr> :: swims behind Katellan up the tunnel::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: After a minute of swimming Katellan suddenly surfaces, into a cavern of some kind, which must contain a pocket of air.
<Katellan> ::looks around, not removing her rebreather just in case the air up there isn't safe to breathe::
<Zhaipherr> :: surfaces next to Katellan, looking around before climbing out of the water onto the floor of the cavern::
<Katellan> ::climbs out after Zhaipherr::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: The glow Katellan noticed from under water turns out to be from some form of glowing plant that is growing on the walls of the cavern, making it fairly easy to see inside.
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Nice useful plant... ::shuts down her glowrod and walks into the cavern::
<Zhaipherr> :: takes out his rebreather and puts it in his pocket, looking around:: Katellan: Very.
<Katellan> ::notes that Zhaipherr hasn't dropped dead yet, and takes out her rebreather as well::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: There is mostly just more of that glowing plant on the walls and floors, however near the center of the cavern floor Katellan can see some crystals.
<Katellan> ::walks into the middle of the cavern and kneels down, looking at the crystals::
<Zhaipherr> ACTION: There are four crystal clusters here, one light blue, one dark blue, one pink, and a small one clear.
<Katellan> ::breaks a piece off each color like she did the last time, and breaks off as big a piece of the clear as she can get, putting them in her pack::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: It looks like we need to search at least one more place. There's only enough clear here for one crystal. ::stands up and walks back to him::
<Zhaipherr> :: nods at Katellan and sits down::
<Katellan> ::raises an eyebrow at Zhaipherr:: Zhaipherr: Planning to stay for a while Master?
<Zhaipherr> :: shrugs:: Katellan: It is nice here. And that’s a long way back to the ship. Let's rest for a bit.
<Katellan> ::smiles and nods:: Zhaipherr: All right. ::sits down facing him:: I could make one with these I guess Master. Then search for an Ice Aqua if we have the time...
<Zhaipherr> :: nods:: Katellan: That is a good idea. The Masters should have another mission for us soon. :: looks out at the cavern, calming his body, allowing the high Force concentration to swirl around him and through him::
<Katellan> Zhaipherr: Do you think Tiinaxl will be coming?
<Zhaipherr> :: closes his eyes, opening his mind to what the Force:: Katellan: I'm not sure. He must choose his own path, if he chooses the path of the Knight, then he will be put through the Apprentice Trials, as you were. And if he passes, I will choose him as my Apprentice. Although the Triumvirs would make me anyway, since Tiinaxl is my responsibility. :: smiles, his eyes remaining closed::
<Katellan> ::nods::
<Zhaipherr> :: gets a strange feeling, frowning, the Force showing him something::
<Zhaipherr> :: continues to frown for a few moments then jumps, opening his eyes quickly and standing just as quickly, his sabers in his hands::
<Katellan> ::jumps up, igniting her practice saber, and looking around the cavern::
<Zhaipherr> :: calms down and puts his sabers away, taking his rebreather out of his pocket:: Katellan: We need to get back to the temple, fast. :: turns and dives into the tunnel, putting his rebreather on his mouth just before hitting the water::
<Katellan> ::looks after him for a second, then shuts down her saber, puts her rebreather in, and follows::
<Zhaipherr> <<<<<End>>>>>>

Reflections on the Tracking Mission
Zhaipherr's ship flies back to the temple at a leasurely pace, there was no rush, and the slower pace would give him time to talk with his Apprentices. In fact he has just called Katellan into the training room for just such a meeting...
Katellan enters the training room and smiles.
Zhaipherr is sitting on the floor with his eyes closed, as Katellan often finds him.
Katellan sits in front of him. "You called Master?"
Zhaipherr nods. "You know why." He smiles, his eyes still closed.
Katellan nods. "Of course Master."
Zhaipherr opens his eyes, looking at her. "Tell me about the encounters with the Jedi, I couldn't see either of them."
Katellan thinks for a moment. "The first one was an apprentice. He was following us and we caught him at it. Both of them were hiding themselves, and he didn't seem to appreciate me pointing out that it was a Sith skill..." She shrugs. "He spilled his guts as soon as I had a saber to his chest."
Zhaipherr nods. "Did he say why he was there?"
Katellan nods. "They both said they were there because they had been passing the planet and felt trained force signatures."
Zhaipherr frowns. "Are you sure that's what they said?"
Katellan shakes her head. "That wasn't quite it... they said it was a scout who felt the signatures. The Council sent them to inviestigate."
Zhaipherr frowns again. "That's not good.. Anything else?"
Katellan shakes her head again. "Nothing more they said Master. The second one we met brought the force back long enough to use it to find out if we were Sith, but neither of them will be reporting back."
Zhaipherr nods. "What happened with the apprentice after he talked?"
Katellan frowns. "I killed him Master. I did not want him reporting back to the Council."
Zhaipherr nods. "Did you take his saber?"
Katellan answers, "He did not have one Master, and he seemed quite impressed that I did." She laughs.
Zhaipherr nods again. "So you killed an unarmed apprentice. How do you feel about that?"
Katellan sighs. "I did not like it Master, but I could not risk him reporting back."
Zhaipherr nods. "You did the right thing. It's just important that you know that, inside. Otherwise you will have regrets, and that is a dangerous distraction."
Katellan nods. "I know that Master. I realize I will not always like the right thing, even if I know it needed to be done. I have no regrets."
Zhaipherr nods again. "Good. So what happened with the master?"
Katellan says, "When we first encountered him he threw Tiinaxl off the cliff. I let the master go for the moment, and went back to help. Once he made it to the top again we chased down the master, who was tracking you. He was less forthcoming with his information, but was concerned that his apprentice had not checked in."
Zhaipherr nods. "Understandable."
Katellan nods and smiles. "Of course. I can't imagine how worried you'd have been in his place. I suggested he go back to look for him, but he didn't fall for it. He quickly realized we were not Sith, but he knew we were trained. Just as I was debating the best way to take care of him, Tiinaxl squeezed him. He was... angry..."
Zhaipherr raises an eyebrow. "Squeezed him?"
Katellan nods and shudders. "Remind me not to make him mad Master. The Jedi could not breathe, and then he just kind of... crunched."
Zhaipherr looks a little puzzled. "What, exactly, did he do?"
Katellan closes her eyes and remembers back. "It was like a large dark snake Master."
Zhaipherr thinks. "A dark snake?"
Katellan nods. "It squeezed the Jedi."
Zhaipherr frowns, thinking. "Was there anything else significant about it besides the darkness?"
Katellan answers, "When I tried to disarm the Jedi I could not get close to him. The Force around him made me feel ill."
Zhaipherr nods. "I know that type of energy all too well.."
Katellan says, "I am glad I did not have to fight the master, as he would have been more than my match. But that was a horrible way to go."
Zhaipherr nods, something deep inside forcing a wicked grin to surface before he catches it. "I'll bet.." He frowns and shakes his head.
Katellan raises an eyebrow at the look on his face, but doesn't comment.
Zhaipherr looks at her again. "So, that is all that happened with them?"
Katellan nods. "All that I can think of Master. Except that when they were near, I could not feel you. You would already know that though."
Zhaipherr nods. "Whatever ability they were using to block out the Force also kept me from getting close."
Katellan looks confused. "Close Master? You were following us that entire time?"
Zhaipherr grins a bit. "In a way."
Katellan smiles. "How did you do that Master?"
Zhaipherr grins again. "It is called Translocation. An ability that lets you leave your body, with the aid of the Force, and move around as energy, you cannot physically interact with anything, but you can see and hear, and strong users can even use the Force while still in this state."
Katellan raises an eyebrow. "You must count as a strong user then Master, because you must have been using your void."
Zhaipherr laughs. "Well that isn't really a conscious ability anymore. My old master drilled that ability into me so much that it's practically always on now. I forget about it most of the time."
Katellan nods. "Until I yell at you because of what a pain it is to not be able to feel your presence." She laughs.
Zhaipherr laughs again. "Sorry, but it does come in handy. Especially when I want to move around unnoticed in the temple."
Katellan grins. "I bet."
Zhaipherr nods. "Well I think that is all we need to go over. You did very well during the exercise. And dealt with the unexpected perfectly, you kept your center, stayed calm, and did what needed to be done. I'm proud of you." He smiles.
Katellan turns a nice shade of red and stares at the floor. "Thank you Master."
Zhaipherr laughs at the look on her face. "We will be back at the Temple in another hour or so, it will be the middle of the night there, so you can get some rest when we get back. Dismissed." He smiles and closes his eyes again. "Can you send Tiinaxl in here please?"
Katellan stands up and nods. "Of course Master." She turns and heads out of the training room.
Zhaipherr opens his eyes again, watching her go, sighing a bit as he waits for Tiinaxl, thinking over Katellan's report.

A dish best served cold...
It has been a few days since the trio returned from Coruscant. During that time Katellan hasn't seen Zhaipherr at all, and his ship had not been in the hangar. However tonight she is awoken by the chime at her door.
Katellan doesn't feel a thing outside the door, so she knows right away who it is, and gets up to open it.
Zhaipherr nods to her as the door opens. "Get dressed."
Katellan yawns. "Why? What time is it?"
Zhaipherr shows her his chrono, which displays that it is the middle of the night.
Katellan stares at it blearily. "Is something wrong?"
Zhaipherr folds his arms, not answering as he waits.
Katellan frowns and turns to get dressed.
Zhaipherr stays in the doorway, leaning against the frame.
Katellan dresses quickly in pants and a baggy shirt, grabs her saber, and returns to him at the door.
Zhaipherr nods, stepping back into the hall. "Follow me." He turns and starts down the hall.
Katellan follows him, getting a bad feeling that he's upset with her or something.
Zhaipherr leads her to the lift and takes her down several floors, bringing her to a room and stepping inside. The room is empty, and is a little smaller than her quarters. The only thing in the room to break up the plain walls is a side door.
Katellan follows him in. "Where are we?"
Zhaipherr turns and closes the door, locking it. "A small sparring room. Wait here." He heads through the side door.
Katellan waits.
A minute later a human man comes flying through the door, landing on the floor of the room Katellan is in with a loud thump. The man is bound and wearing a blindfold, but even with that Katellan recognizes him, as her former boss so many years ago..
Zhaipherr steps out of the side room.
Katellan steps backward away from the man fast.. until she hits the wall behind her.
Zhaipherr raises his hand. The man suddenly lifts into the air, as if he were being hung from a cable attached to the ceiling, hanging from his bound wrists.
Katellan looks up at him, shaking. "So this is where you have been since we returned? Why did you bring him here Zhaipherr?"
Zhaipherr waves his hand quickly, and the man's blindfold tears off and falls to the floor.
Boss looks around for a minute, before spotting Katellan. "What the?!"
Zhaipherr ignores the man's words, watching Katellan's reactions.
Katellan ignites her saber, but doesn't move, her hatred warring with the essential wrongness of killing a bound man.
Zhaipherr raises his other hand, pulling her saber from her grasp, before clipping it to his belt. "No."
Katellan looks over at Zhaipherr. "I couldn't anyway. You know I could never kill an unarmed and bound man.."
Boss looks around, confused and a little scared now. "What is going on?!"
Zhaipherr turns to the man. "Shut up." He flicks his wrist.
The man's jaw suddenly jerks to the side, breaking with a loud CRACK. Leaving the man unable to do anything but scream and mumble.
Katellan winces at the sound of the bone breaking.
Zhaipherr looks back to Katellan. "This is the man who started it, isn't it?"
Katellan bites her lip and nods, still shaking.
Zhaipherr nods, flicking his hand again.
Both the man's wrists crack simultaneously.
Boss cries out incoherently.
Katellan takes a step closer to the boss. "You thought you got away with it didn't you? You thought you would never pay for what you did to me."
Boss looks at her, his face a mix of pain and fear.
Zhaipherr steps over to Katellan. "You know why I found him and brought him here?"
Katellan thinks and looks over at him. "You want to show me how much you would do to keep me safe and calm my fears?"
Zhaipherr shakes his head. "Wrong. I brought him here so that you could face your fears and destroy them with your own hand. You are going to take your life back from your demons."
Katellan shudders. "You want me to kill him?"
Zhaipherr shrugs. "Do you want to kill him?"
Katellan looks up at him hanging there again. "I don't know.. He is tied and helpless, unarmed.. It doesn't seem right to me, and I don't know if that alone will be enough to fix all that ails me.."
Zhaipherr frowns. "It doesn't seem right? This man is scum, a worthless being. You really think you were the only one he did that to?"
Katellan shakes her head. "I highly doubt it."
Zhaipherr nods. "Just because a man is defenseless and bound does not suddenly absolve him from his crimes. If you would prefer, I could remove the bonds. I'm holding him up there anyway."
Katellan thinks, looking up at him hanging there. "I'm sure it would be easier on his wrists, though I doubt he'll be thanking me later.."
Zhaipherr nods and waves his hand again. The man's bonds suddenly tear away.
Katellan looks up at him again. "I did you a kindness.. More than you ever did for me. And trust me when I say it will be the last."
Boss stares at her, terrified.
Zhaipherr grins a little, the dark fire back in his eyes. "So do you wish to kill him?"
Katellan keeps looking at the man. "You're lucky you know." She tilts her head toward
Zhaipherr. "If I let him have you, it'd be even worse. He cares greatly for me you see.. And he's tired of seeing me cringe every time I see a human man. You were the beginning of my fear, and what you did to me angers him beyond belief."
Boss looks to Zhaipherr, shuddering, then back to Katellan.
Zhaipherr steps closer to her. "I would like to show you something, Katellan."
Katellan turns to look at him. "What is it?"
Zhaipherr extends his hand towards the man, slowly closing his fist. The man starts screaming loudly, and if Katellan looks closely, she notices his right bicep sinking in, as if it were being crushed.
Katellan watches, rubbing at her own arm without even thinking. "Remind me to never piss you off.."
Zhaipherr grins evilly, letting his fist fall. "Raise your arm."
Katellan lifts up her arm.
Zhaipherr nods. "Now focus on a muscle, his left calf."
Katellan looks at the man's left calf, concentrating on it, and finds that she can almost feel the muscle, as if she were holding it in her outstretched hand. She grins and closes her hand.
Boss screams again, his calf sinking in slowly like his bicep did before.
Katellan closes her hand a bit tighter and the man keeps screaming, his calf sinking to nothing. She feels the now shriveled muscle in her hand and lets go. "See? I told you I'm fairly nice.. At least I didn't crush the bone.."
Boss ignores her words, as he's a bit busy screaming. His calf remains crushed.
Katellan turns to Zhaipherr again. "He doesn't have a very high pain tolerance does he?"
Zhaipherr grins again. "Apparently not."
Katellan shrugs. "Though since I've never had a muscle crushed I can't say whether or not I'd react the same way.."
Zhaipherr nods.
Katellan grins and lifts her arm again, concentrating on the man’s private area, squeezing just a bit at first, wanting to make this one nice and slow. The man screams loudly, struggling wildly against the invisible force holding him. Katellan lets go and steps closer to him, knowing he can't make a move to harm her. "Problems? It may have been many years ago, but you messed with the wrong girl. Look what I grew up to be."
Zhaipherr stands back, watching.
Boss looks down at her, actually crying.
Katellan looks back up at him, her face like stone. "Cry all you want. I cried too. Almost every night since you raped me." She squeezes again.
Boss screams and struggles again.
Katellan lets go again, waiting for him to quiet enough to hear her. "All the pain you put me through. All the years of fear. There's no way you can pay it back in this little room.."
Boss shakes his head as he stares at her, likely wanting to beg, but he can't.
Katellan smirks up at him. "Yeah? I shook my head too.. And I begged, and I cried, and I fought. You didn't care, and neither do I." Focusing on the same area still, she closes her hand with a snap, wondering at the last minute if Zhaipherr is also somehow able to keep him conscious. The man's eyes go wide and his cry is almost ear shattering, as the groin of his pants seems to vanish, becoming an almost flat spot between his legs.
Katellan winces at the volume of the scream, but doesn't move to cover her ears at all, grinning at the sound.
Zhaipherr steps up behind Katellan. "Do you want me to shut him up?"
Katellan shrugs. "I'm surprised he didn't rupture his vocal cords yet actually."
Zhaipherr nods. "He hasn't quite reached that level. Trust me. I know what it sounds like.."
Katellan shrugs again and nods. "Hmm.. Then maybe you ought to shut him up before he ruptures my eardrums. Though I imagine that's among the most painful of all the places I could have crushed. His volume may drop after this." She smirks.
Zhaipherr nods. "Up to you."
Katellan listens as the man drops from screams to sobs and whimpers. "Now this sound I kind of like.." She grins. "I don't suppose you have any other painful suggestions.."
Zhaipherr grins. "You don't want to see that section of my mind.."
Katellan raises an eyebrow. "Oh? And you think the section that brings the last of my demons here for me to torture and kill is all that comforting to see? I know what you were, though I won't say it wouldn't be possible to shock me."
Zhaipherr nods slowly, showing a second of sadness, before the fire in his eyes takes hold again.
Katellan ignores the man for a moment, turning to face Zhaipherr. "It may not be comforting to see some sides of you, but I didn't say it was horrible, or revolting. Thank you Zhaipherr, for giving me the chance for my revenge. Never be sad over the part of you that I have seen tonight.."
Zhaipherr nods.
"I know that you would not let him off this easy, but perhaps it is a good thing that I can't think of much worse to do to him.." She shrugs and turns back to face her demon. "I'm taking back my life. You've stolen too much of it from me already." She lifts her arm and focuses on his neck, slowly crushing it.
Boss screams again, but has a hard time of it as he starts to choke.
Katellan squeezes tighter, and his screams die away as he continues to choke.
Katellan keeps squeezing until he gurgles and falls limp, then drops her hand to her side, staring at the dead man.
Zhaipherr drops his hand and the man falls in a heap on the floor.
Katellan steps over and prods him with her foot. "And this is what I feared for so long.."
Zhaipherr extends his hand again, and Katellan's saber floats across the room to hover in front of her.
Katellan takes her saber from the air and hooks it into the waistband of her pants, turning back to
Zhaipherr. "Thank you.."
Zhaipherr nods slowly.
Katellan steps away from the man and over to Zhaipherr, clinging to him as years of emotion and fear let loose in a storm of tears.
Zhaipherr hugs her tight.
Katellan shakes in his arms. "He's gone.. He's really gone.."
Zhaipherr nods. "He couldn't do a thing to stop you from erasing him from the galaxy. Nothing can harm you now. Remember that.." He picks her up, moving to the door.
Katellan huddles against his chest and nods.
Zhaipherr exits the room, closing the door and using the Force to lock it again, before carrying her back to her room.
