Episode 003 Part 010

Prelude:

Dawn draws near and the flashy lights of the clubs and signs light the sky. Two shuttles move, side by side, through the buildings. They cruise casually, picking their way carefully. A small fighter slips past and banks in front of them, before increasing speed. The shuttles bank to follow and increase speed, as well.

%$%$% BEGIN EPISODE 003 PART 010 %$%$%

ACTION:: The fighter twists suddenly and dives towards a platform, then begins firing it's weapons on it. The shuttles follow, but at a safe distance::

<Tam_Sneed> :: pulls up just before he's about to crash, and moves to make a second pass::

ACTION:: The defenses come online and begin to fire upon the fighter::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: keeps up the plan, dodging any fire pointed his way::
<Tam_Sneed> ::flips a comm switch:: [Facility]: This is Tam Sneed. ::twists and turns hard to avoid the shots:: You have someone I need returned.

ACTION:: Moments after the transmission, the defenses shut off::

<Voice> [Tam]: Our apologies. Please land and you will be escorted inside.
<Tam_Sneed> ::levels out the fighter and begins to land, flipping the comm switch for the shuttles:: [Both]: They are letting me land. Come in right after me and start the fireworks.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: taps the comm:: [Tam]: Right.
<Tam_Sneed> ::lands the fighter and hops out, blaster in hand::

ACTION:: Four men come out with rifles pointed at Tam. One of them tell him to put his blaster away and enter::

<Tam_Sneed> :: puts his blaster away and walks inside, looking back over his shoulder just before he gets inside::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: heads for the landing pad and sets down, leaving the shuttle on standby and hurrying out with his trio of mercs::

ACTION:: Olivia's shuttle lands next to Skull's and the mercs join up with the others. Everyone waits for Skull's commands::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: makes the hand motion to proceed, rushing towards the doors Tam was escorted through::

ACTION:: Skull and the mercs enter the building, followed by Olivia::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: looks around quickly, trying to get a bead on Tam::

<Tam_Sneed> ::walks casually, but not all too fast:: All: Where you taking me? ::notices that the guards aren't talking:: Guards: Hey! I asked a question! ::stops in his tracks::

ACTION:: The guards behind Tam push him to keep him moving::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: spots Tam and the guards and rushes towards them, opening fire::

ACTION:: Blaster bolts fill the corridor and all four guards are killed. Unfortunately, the mercs were a bit too generous with their weapons fire and wings him as well::

<Tam_Sneed> ::spins and falls to the floor:: All: What the...? ::grabs his upper arm in pain::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: holds up his hand in the "cease fire" signal, hurrying to make sure Tam is alright, crouches next to Tam and pulls out his medkit:: Tam: Sorry about that. :: starts patching him up::
<Tam_Sneed> Skull: It's just a nick. Get these guys to the control room to disable the defenses, I'll take Olivia and try to find Arani.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods and waves his hand for the mercs to follow him, hurrying down the corridor to where he hopes to find a data terminal to pull up a floorplan of some kind::
<Tam_Sneed> ::gets up on his feet and pulls his blaster:: Olivia: Let's go. ::nods to Skull:: Skull: Good luck
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods back:: Tam: You too.
<Tam_Sneed> ::rushes down the corridor to find someway to find Arani::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: chooses corridors at random, firing on any guards he comes across, as he continues to search for a terminal::

ACTION:: The mercs move quickly, and find a terminal that seems to be turned off. Ahead, the corridor ends in a "T". Off the "T" are corridors with doors along each side of them, and lifts at the ends of them.::

<Tam_Sneed> ::hears the shots behind him and looks back to Olivia to give her a reassured look, before continuing down their corridor, turns a corner and finds an unguarded lift:: Olivia: Looks like we have a lift to use. ::heads for it, then gets to the lift and opens it:: Olivia: She better be alive. ::steps inside and presses the down button::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: orders a pair of mercs to each end of the "T" while he works on the terminal, trying to hack into the terminal and pull up any kind of map, blueprints, or floorplan that will help them find the control room::

ACTION:: Skull gets the terminal to turn on, but all the display shows is a set of numbers that continually decrease in value::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: frowns, trying to pull up any info on the numbers::

ACTION:: The terminal seems to be locked out, but the numbers continue to change at the same rate. Meanwhile Tam and Olivia's lift goes down fast, then stops at a lower level::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: frowns and tries a quick code breaking trick he picked up during the war::

ACTION:: A voice begins to read the numbers that are counting down. They will reach zero within the next minute at their current rate::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: curses and hurries towards the end of the "T", calling all the mercs to him::

ACTION:: Before all of the mercs can get out of the affected corridors, the sound of blaster fire and ion blasts can be heard, as well as screams which come to abrupt ends. Out of the six mercs, two manage to make it to Skull alive::

<Tam_Sneed> ::steps out carefully, looking for guards:: Olivia: It's clear. I don't like this. ::looks for the way to go and sees a set of double doors at the end of the corridor:: Olivia: Maybe we can get answers in there. ::levels his blaster and leads the way, gets to the doors and looks for a pad to open them::

ACTION:: There is no pad evident, but the doors open on their own regardless::

<Tam_Sneed> ::looks inside and walks in, carefully, looks back to Olivia:: Olivia: Seems like no ones here.

ACTION:: The doors close behind Olivia and lock. Meanwhile, Skull makes it to the lift without trouble.::

<Tam_Sneed> ::rushes to the doors to open them:: Self: Great!

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: curses and peeks around the corner::

ACTION:: Skull sees the torn up bodies of the dead mercs and nothing else::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: frowns and heads to one of the lifts, pushes the call button on the lift::

ACTION:: The lift opens for Skull and looks empty::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: steps inside and waves the mercs in, before pushing the button for the floor under the top floor::

ACTION:: The mercs join Skull in the lift::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: looks around for an emergency exit hatch while he waits on the lift to get started::

ACTION:: Instead of going up or down, the lift spins around and the doors open to a control room, filled with guards and consoles::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: laughs:: That's one way. :: opens fire on the guards, trying to use the edges of the lift doorway for cover::

ACTION:: The guards turn around and begin to return fire. Most of the guards fall to the mercenary fire, but one of the mercs fall as well.::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: keeps firing, trying to duck out of the lift and behind any better cover nearby::

ACTION:: The remaining merc heads the opposite way from Skull. Both of their fire begins to damage some of the consoles, as well as take down more of the guards. The guards are divided due to the separation of Skull and the merc.::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: focuses his fire on the guards, trying not to hit too many consoles as he keeps moving::

ACTION:: The tides in the control room begin to turn, as the guards are not prepared for such an attack. They fall faster now, leaving only three or four to be dealt with.::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: switches his pistol to stun and tries to down the remaining four as quickly as possible::

ACTION:: The merc takes out all but one, because Skull has managed to stun him. The control room is a shambles, and sparks fly here and there. Meanwhile, more guards are headed towards the control room, unknown to Skull and the merc.::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: moves to shoot the stunned guard, switching his pistol back to full again first, and then moves to any console that isn't destroyed, trying to seal off the control room::

ACTION:: Skull manages to lockout the "lift", and the good news is that the defenses were down before the carnage took place, so they are not up now.::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: smirks and orders the merc to make sure all the guards are dead, while he starts trying to tap into the internal security grid::

ACTION:: The merc gives a crooked smile and begins firing shots into very guard on the floor or hanging over a console. Skull is finding that the damage to the equipment is extensive, but manages to get into the security monitors to view the various rooms of the building.::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: cycles through the monitors, looking for any sign of Arani and Tam::

ACTION:: Skull sees all of the holding cells. Some with people in them, and many are empty. No sign of Arani, however. Several of the other rooms show a few people in them, working, but none are Tam or Arani. He does manage to get a feed from the corridor outside the control room to see that the guards are preparing to blow the "lift" open::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: curses and tries to find either another way out of the control room, or any type of internal defenses he might could use to get rid of the guards outside::

<Voice> *Tam*: Relax. You're not going anywhere. I understand you are looking for someone. I assure you that she is being taken care of quite well.
<Tam_Sneed> Voice: Let me guess. She's in a cell somewhere. Let her free and we will let you live.
<Voice> *Tam*: I doubt you are in the position to make such demands. It is you who should be pleading for his life.
<Tam_Sneed> Voice: I don't think you know what I've done so far to insure my escape. ::looks to Olivia:: I'm hardly here alone.
<Voice> ::laughs:: *Tam*: Yes, I know. They are being dealt with as we speak. I'm not worried about them.
<Tam_Sneed> Voice: Who are you worried about? Look at us? We're no real threat to you. Why come after us like this?
<Voice> *Tam*: If I let you go, then I'd have to let every low-life go. That would undermine my credibility and no one would do business with me. Sorry, but your life is a not a good bargaining chip.
<Tam_Sneed> ::sighs:: Voice: What will you do with us now?
<Voice> *Tam*: You will die, eventually. I do have plans for you in the meantime.
<Tam_Sneed> ::looks to Olivia:: Olivia: Sorry that you were dragged into this. :: begins looking for some sort of controls or a way out of the room, but finds nothing after his search:: Self: I hope the others are having better luck. ::looks around:: Voice: OK, what's your plans for us in the meantime? ::waits for a reply, but doesn't get a reply and begins to wonder what has happened::
<Voice> *Tam*: You will be escorted to a more secure room. It would be in your best interests to releave yourselves of your weapons, before the escorts get there.
<Tam_Sneed> Voice: No. They are going to have to take them from us.
<Voice> *Tam*: Very well. That will make my task a bit easier.
<Tam_Sneed> ::looks around and tears material from the tapestry on the wall:: Olivia: Cover your mouth and nose! ::tosses her some and covers hs own:: Hold your breath! ::watches Olivia try to cover the vents and begins to do the same, holding his breath the whole time::
<Tam_Sneed> ::covers the vents but notices that there is still gas inside the room, and also notices Olivia passed out on the floor, and also falls to the floor and inhales, since he couldn't hold his breath any longer, then passes out himself::

ACTION:: Whether Skull happens to notice or not, the guards in the corridor outside the control room come under fire, just before they are able to set the charges to blow::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: catches the firefight out of the corner of his eye on the monitor and raises an eyebrow:: Now who is that?

ACTION:: Alarms throughout the building go off. The noise of the klaxon alarm is quite loud. Tam and Olivia also happen to notice a vapor coming down from the small ventilation vents::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: tries to pull up an explanation of why the alarms are going off::

ACTION:: Skull's displays show New Republic soldiers rushing through corridors and at the "lift" outside the control room::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: grins and punches the commands to unseal the control room "lift"::

ACTION:: The "lift" opens and soldiers rush in, pointing weapons at both Skull and the merc::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: holds his hands high in the air:: Welcome. You're a little late, but welcome all the same.

ACTION:: The soldiers motion for the two to drop their weapons and leave the room::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: does just that:: We're the advanced team, by the way. And there are three other members of my team. So if you could help us find them that would be great.

ACTION:: The soldiers don't say a word to Skull or the merc, but lead them out to the shuttles and hold them there. Meanwhile, the doors to the room Olivia and Tam are in, slide open, and soldiers rush in to drag them out::

<Man1> ::walks up to the soldiers holding Skull and the merc, then dismisses them:: Skull: Good news. You did very well. Mr. Sneed and Miss Brahn were found unharmed.

ACTION:: Soldiers carry the two out and lay them on the pad::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods:: Man1: Thank you. :: pauses:: Wait, where is Arani?
<Man1> Skull: Get them up and out of here. ::looks back at the soldiers and nods:: She hasn't been found yet. Our sources say she may have left earlier.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: frowns and nods, moving to get Tam and Olivia on board::

Episode 003 Part 011

Prelude:

Maverick glides through the stars, slowly. It rolls over for a good view of Ord Mantell. She moves into an orbit with several other ships.

It's been two days since they helped the New Republic attack Vinderhaus' facility on Coruscant, and lost roughly half of their crew. Now they are looking for work, and maybe a clue to where Arani is.

%$%$% BEGIN EPISODE 003 PART 011 %$%$%

<Tam_Sneed> ::sets the controls to auto and moves to a different console to begin looking up work and other information::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: steps onto the flightdeck:: Tam: How's it going?
<Tam_Sneed> ::sighs:: Skull: As good as can be expected. I haven't found any sign of that girl since we left and the NR won't give me the time of day... on any planet. I'm going to get us some work, and hope that will help our moral and luck. How's Olivia?
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: takes a seat, out of the way:: Tam: She should be alright in a while, seems she had a stronger reaction to that gas than you did.
<Tam_Sneed> ::nod:: Skull: She's just a girl. I'v been around a bit more than she has, and that may have something to do with it. ::shrugs:: Regardless, I hope she comes out of it alright. She's the last of the best crew I've ever had. ::looks to him:: No insult intended.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods:: Tam: None taken. So you've written off Arani then?
<Tam_Sneed> ::hears a beep at the terminal and looks at the display:: Skull: Looks like we may be in luck. There's a simple load of supplies in need of a ship just our size. According to this, it'll be ready in a few days. That'll give us a day to catch our breath. ::looks back to him:: I haven't written anyone off. I plan on running a search for her at our every stop. I hope we can find her before too long.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods:: Tam: Ah. I asked because you referred to Miss Solahn as the "last of the best crew you ever had".
<Tam_Sneed> ::nods:: Skull: She is, at the moment. ::sends a quick message to the employer about the supplies:: Self: There. Now to do that search. ::shifts screens on the display and begins entering the search parameters, then turns back to Skull:: Skull: You have any needs, while we're here?
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: shakes his head:: Tam: Not really.
<Tam_Sneed> ::nod:: Skull: We'll probably have to top off before leaving. ::glances back at the terminal:: Unless we get lucky and find something.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods:: Tam: Is there anything I can do to help?
<Tam_Sneed> ::nods:: Skull: Sure. You can check the shuttlebay and see if we need anything replenished there. I'd like to stock up on everything before leaving. You know, gotta be prepared and all.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods and stands, heading out of the c0ckpit::

ACTION:: The terminal beeps again, and then again, and once more::

<Tam_Sneed> ::looks over to it quick:: Self: What the...? ::reads the display and slams his fist into the console:: Just not my week.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: heads down to the shuttlebay to check their supplies::

ACTION:: The display shows that someone matching Arani's description was at Ord Mantell, but left for Denon less thn a day ago.::

<Tam_Sneed> ::heads out of the flight deck for the shuttlebay, then looks around once there:: Skull: Skulonn! I found her!
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: stands up, banging his head on something and cursing:: Tam: Really?!
<Tam_Sneed> ::looks to the loud thud:: Skull: Yeah. She's on Denon. I need Olivia to be wide awake for this though.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: frowns:: Tam: I could try and wake her, but if you need her to fly being on stimulants might not be the best thing.
<Tam_Sneed> ::nods:: Skull: She needs to be awake and flying, but I want her to not be on stimulants. How long do you think that could happen?
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: thinks:: Tam: Five or six hours, after she wakes up.
<Tam_Sneed> ::thinks a bit:: Skull: Is there any way to know when she will wake up?
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: shrugs:: Tam: Guess.
<Tam_Sneed> ::shakes his head:: Skull: We're going to lose her. ::turns for the door:: Get me a list of parts and etc. We're leaving as soon as we stock up.
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods and gets back to work::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: adds a few more things to the list on his datapad and moves on to something else::

<Tam_Sneed> ::rushes up to the flightdeck again and takes the ship locks off and heads out of orbit, towards an orbital refueling station, then brings Maverick in and hooks up:: [Refueler]: This is the Maverick. Top the tanks off. I also have a list of supplies we need.
<Refueler> [Maverick]: Pumping in process. Send the list of supplies and ready a hold.
<Tam_Sneed> ::nods and prepares the forward hold, since it's secluded from the rest of the ship::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: finishes the list and taps his comm:: *Tam*: All finished.
<Tam_Sneed> *Skull*: Great! Bring it up. ::grins::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: heads back up the stairs::
<Tam_Sneed> :: begins preparing a list of his own::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: hurries into the flightdeck and hands the list to Tam:: Tam: There you go.
<Tam_Sneed> ::takes it:: Skull: Thanks. We should be ready to leave within the hour. Hopefully Sleeping Beauty wakes before then.
<Tam_Sneed> ::enters Skull's list into the one he started and sends it through::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: nods and takes his datapad back once Tam is finished uploading the list:: Tam: I'll go check on her again.
<Tam_Sneed> ::looks up at him:: Skull: Thanks again. ::grins::
<Skulonn_Vorc> :: laughs:: Tam: Don't. You aren't the only one who wants her back. :: turns and heads back out of the flightdeck::
<Tam_Sneed> ::nods and looks back to the terminal, worried about losing the track:: [Refueler]: This is the Maverick. List has been sent.
<Refueler> [Maverick]: The supplies will be picked and sent within the next ten minutes. Open your hold now.
<Tam_Sneed> ::nods again and opens the forward hold, sealing all hatches to it beforehand::

ACTION:: The pumping stops, as all tanks read full on Maverick. A cargo hauler leaves dock and heads for Maverick::

<Tam_Sneed> ::locks up the tanks and watches the hauler approach:: Self: These guys are good.

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: heads down to the medbay to check on Olivia... gets there and checks Olivia's condition::

ACTION:: As Skull approaches Olivia, she shifts a bit, but doesn't awake::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: checks her vitals::

ACTION:: Olivia's vital signs are stable. Breathing is back to normal and pulse is strong as ever. Her eyes show signs of possible dreaming, which is a good sign that she may be waking shortly::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: turns to leave, then pauses, turning back:: Self: Worth a shot.. :: shrugs and claps his hands loudly, shouting:: Wake up!

ACTION:: Olivia doesn't budge::

<Skulonn_Vorc> :: shrugs again:: Self: Oh well. :: moves to take a seat nearby::

<Tam_Sneed> ::watches the hauler enter the hold and a minute later, back out of the hold, then closes the forward hold::
<Refueler> [Maverick]: Maverick. Payment is required immediately.
<Tam_Sneed> ::grins:: [Refueler]: Sending over the account. Receipt acknowledgement would be preferred.
<Refueler> [Maverick]: Maverick. Acknowledgement will be sent. ::sends amount::
<Tam_Sneed> ::gets the amount required and sends the account data:: [Refueler]: Thank you for your service.
<Refueler> [Maverick]: Maverick. Payment acknowledged. Good Journeys.
<Tam_Sneed> ::secures the hold:: *Skull*: We're off. Let me know when Olivia wakes. :: pulls Maverick away from the orbital refueling station, and heads away from Ord Mantell:: Self: This should be interesting.

ACTION:: Maverick clears the planet and jumps into hyperspace::
