Well, some of you know this and some may not.
I'm looking for a house to buy, finally. It's so exciting!
We had found one that we thought would be THE house for us, but when we went to make an offer, we found out that someone made one just before we did, and no more offers were being accepted. It was a huge disappointment.
Then we started looking even harder for something and now have a list of 10 houses to look at. The excitement is back!
However, we were going out Sunday to get a good look at the places and there's a big snow storm coming through this whole weekend. We are hoping it will let up before we head out Sunday, but who knows?
I'll keep you updated.

Sunday was good. We saw five houses and out of the five, one could be a possibility. There were a few disappointments, but that comes with the territory.
We get to see some houses Wednesday. 9 houses to be exact. We're going to be on house hunting overload, but I think it'll be worth it. I have a good feeling about it.

House... A House!
OK, it is now Monday. We had a great day last Wednesday, looking at about 8 houses.
We almost stopped after the second house, because Kelly loved it so much. The other houses we saw didn't measure up to the second house, so we put in an offer on it yesterday. The owners have until Tuesday to accept, decline, or counter.
Over the past four weeks, we saw over 24 houses. It was fun, but I'm glad it's almost over.
On a side note, we went out to eat and got food poisoning on Friday night. I suffered the longest (still have a little stomach pain). Kelly and Megan are fine now. Well, Kelly never got sick, and we can't figure out why, since she ate about the same as we did. That's the way it goes though, I guess.

MY House... A House!
Back to informing everyone.
After declining a ridiculous counter-offer from one set of homeowners, we began looking at houses again.
We found a couple we liked and picked one to make an offer on. After twenty-four hours, we had a counter-offer, and we counter-offered back. Out last offer was accepted and we now have to get the inspection and wait for closing to come in May.
In short, we now have a house to call our own.

MY House... A House!
I do know that the house we are trying to get isn't ours until the keys are in our hands, but it's fun to think of it as ours.
The inspection was very good. The seller signed the ammendment to our offer, saying that some things need to be fixed before we buy it. I think she already had some of the work done. We dropped by the house to look around outside, since we couldn't get inside. It was exciting to see it again. We checked out the big park in the town and some of the shopping in a nearby city. Everything is so handy and nice.
Now we just have to wait a little over a month before we can walk through the house once more and sign the dotted line to buy it. Money is going to be tight for a while, but I think we will manage.
So that's the latest news. If something comes up between now and May, I'll let you know.

MY House... my house?
Just over a week from closing on the house, and the financing is still not wrapped up. It drives me mad to think that one little thing could hold us up.
We're starting to pack things up and have a truck reserved to haul it all. Hopefully it can be done in one trip with the huge truck. If there's any small items left over, I can take them in my car.
I already have plans for when we move in and how to manage the time between the two places.
Clean and paint the weekend after closing. Move some small stuff on that same weekend. The next week, move the rest of the stuff to the house and take the weekend to clean the apartment. Hand over the keys to the landlord the following week and start on getting settled in (mow lawn, arrange furniture, unpack, etc.).
My landlord said that he will give us some of our rent back if we leave before the end of the month. I figure that if we get out before the middle of the month, we should get half our rent back plus our security deposit. It may be in June when we get it back, but we should get it.
With all of the running around and such, my vacation and personal days from work are nearly used up for the year. I'll just have to take important days off and not days I would like to take off. Important days are birthdays and days I have things planned for already. I did have some extra days available until the house thing ate them up. No big deal though, right? We'll see.

Woo Hooo!! It's Gonna Be Mine! All Mine!
Just an update. The financing is set in stone and ready to go. The mortgage payments won't be crazy either.
Now all I have to do is get the insurance setup and start switching the mail stuff to the new address (biggest headache ever).
Can't wait for next Friday.

Moved!
I've been in my new house for almost a month now and love every minute of it. Been working hard on the yard work, which I haven't had to do for years.
Started working more on the inside lately. I took all of the cabinet doors off in the kitchen and started to refinish them. Seems like it'd be fairly easy, but though it's simple, the work is hard. Have to remove the varnish/stain from them and then prime them, and paint. The priming and painting is the easy part. The removal of the old stuff is the worst. I primed over some that I didn't remove the old stuff and it seems to hold fine, but I don't know for sure yet.
Anyway, I have lots of projects to do and it's all fun for me. If the house wasn't mine, it wouldn't be as fun, I think.
Oh well, that's the latest update. Maybe I'll start a new topic just for my house. Naw.

First post of the New Year
Thought I'd be the first person to post here this year. No one else seems to want to.
Anyway, the illness that seems to have subsided slightly. Still have some drainage and coughing, but no sore throat. I can deal with it now.
I'm toying with ideas of what my future with SWEF will be. Should I stop playing or GMing and just administer the SWEF site and forums, or should I just go on as usual, or should I run a new game with the hopes of getting something fresh started? I haven't decided yet. If anyone reads this and has opinions, I'd like to see them posted.

Hoping It Sticks
I got some form of internet back, but it seems spotty at best. I am looking up alternatives to cable, though I'd like to not lose the use of my modem and have to buy a new one for DSL (I don't think renting a modem is a good idea).
My cable channels are still messed up, but as much as I watch TV, it doesn't matter. However, I am paying for all of the channels and should get what I pay for.
Anyway,I'm hoping things will get better for everything. It can't get much worse. At least I hope it can't.
