Final 2004 Mission - UNOFFICIAL
PRELUDE:
Pinnacle Inc. has sent out a group to a lesser known system in the Outer Rim. The Terricolm System is a rich system with several inhabitable planets. Most of those planets are covered with dense forests and have proven to be a good hunting ground for those out for wild game. Also not too bad for those looking for bounties.
The fourth planet from the system's star is called Colmian 4, and is where the group has landed. Thier assignment is to find a lost courier and recover what was to be delivered. Others are also looking for the courier's items. Who gets them first will be one step ahead of the others.
The race is on....

<Naal_Doon> ::makes her way along the trail with the others::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: follows Naal, looking around curiously at various things along the trail they are following::
<Van_Rid****> :: Moves with the group, really not wanting to get lost here. Even as he walks, its unmistakeable that he's nervous. ::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks around as they move through the forest trail, hoping to catch something that will help them get what they needed and leave as soon as possible::
ACTION:: Naal can see a clearing ahead. The trees are further apart and light is shining down on a metal hull of a shuttle of some sort::
<Naal_Doon> All: This way! :: points up ahead and breaks into a run to the clearing::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: breaks his observations and takes off after Naal::
<Van_Rid****> :: jumps slightly, then sprints to keep up with the group. ::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::walks a bit faster,keeping his ears open::
<Naal_Doon> ::watches the clearing and slows her pace slightly to avoid getting caught off guard::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: almost collides with Naal as he was looking at something to the side::
ACTION:: The clearing looks as if it hasn't seen a soul in ages, with the exception of the shuttle, which looks like it has seen better days.::
<Naal_Doon> ::holds up her hand to signal the others to slow down and approach with caution as she signals them to spread out and surround the clearing::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::moves along the edge of the clearing, staying under cover of the foliage::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: it takes him a second to figure out what Naal wants him to do but he obeys quickly::
<Van_Rid****> :: nearly does colide with Brask, but instead trips over a nice size rock, and just lays there, dazed but unhurt. He slowly gets up and moves the same way Ian went, hoping he won't have to be the one to spot an enemy. ::
<Naal_Doon> ::scowls at Rid**** and shakes her head as she circles the shuttle cautiously looking for the entrance::
ACTION:: The side hatch of the shuttle has signs of being pried open and it is not closed all of the way::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::makes his way to the other side of the clearing and looks around. Takes out a portable scanner and scans the area for other lifesigns::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: keeps his eyes open, but is more interested in the local wildlife and foliage than any hidden enemies::
<Naal_Doon> ::moves to the entrance of the hatch and presses her back against the shuttle, sticking the nose of her blaster ahead of her as she tries to get a good look at the door and to open it further
<Brask_KeyFar> :: finally notices the Shuttle fully and, spotting Naal near it, walks over to see if he can help::
ACTION:: The door is jammed and it would take a lot to open it manually. However, the shuttle may have enough power to open it if it could be routed correctly::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: looks around at the damaged shuttle as he walks slowly towards Naal::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods to the door:: Brask: You think you can open it?
<Van_Rid****> :: Exits his cover near Ian and looks around, then at the shuttle, not being able to figure out exactly what class it was. ::
<Brask_KeyFar> :: turns his attention towards the hatch:: Naal: Possibly. :: moves closer and pulls out his tools, before checking to see if there is power getting to the hatch::
<Naal_Doon> ::keeps at a defense at all times as she looks about for intruders while watching Keyfar with the other eye::
<Ian_Hawkins> :: puts the scanner away since no lifesigns other than theirs had shown up::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::ducks from out of the foliage and walks towards the shuttle:: Naal: The area is clear for a good hundred meters.
<Brask_KeyFar> :: pulls out a fusion cutter and begins cutting into the panelling near the hatch to get at the wires and workings inside::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods at him:: Ian: Good... can you see if this opening is booby trapped??
<Naal_Doon> ::relaxes slightly and watches Keyfar::
<Van_Rid****> :: Looks at the door :: Doon: I think the door would have to be sealed for a booby trap to work.
<Brask_Key`far> :: finishes cutting a big enough square out of the panelling to work with and drops the useless piece on the ground::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::crouches down and looks at the opening in the hatch:: Naal: I don't see anything obvious. If it was trapped, it would have to have been done from the inside. Judging by the marks on the hatch, it was broken open, so I don't think it's trapped.
<Naal_Doon> Rid****: You sure of that? A simple line can be attached to the door to be triggered off when it opens....
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks inside the hole he cut and starts checking wires and cables for power readings, oblivious to the others' worries about booby traps::
<Van_Rid****> ::He shrugs:: Doon: Anything hardwired into the ship would require the door to be sealed.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::stands up:: Naal: I also think that we might be too late, here. Whoever was inside is not there now, and the hatch was pried open from the outside, so that means whomever was inside had help, or was taken from the shuttle. But searching it better might be a good idea, none the less.
<Naal_Doon> ::nods and waits for the doors to open::
ACTION:: Brask accidentally shorts out some circuits, causing the hatch to close and then open all the way::
<Brask_Key`far> :: puts his tools away:: Self: Well that was easy.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::lifts his blaster rifle towards the opening, but lowers it, remembering his scan results::
<Naal_Doon> ::moves toward the opening, moving inside and looking around, her blaster still ready::
<Ian_Hawkins> :: pulls out a glowrod and walks inside, shining it around:: Naal: Looks like a mess in here. Makes it hard to do a search. ::leans over and pushes a few buttons on a console::
<Brask_Key`far> :: notices that the short circuits burned his hand slightly and looks it over to see how bad it is::
ACTION:: The lights near the rear of the shuttle flicker on, but the ones near the front spark and go dead::

<Ian_Hawkins> :: pokes his head out the door:: Van: Rid****, You might be of help in here.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::turns his glowrod off and puts it away, after stepping outside of the shuttle:: Naal: I'll stand watch.
<Naal_Doon> ::looks around the shuttle, scowling at the mess in here::
<Brask_Key`far> :: finishes looking at his hand and slaps a small bacta patch on the burn before turning on his glowrod and entering the shuttle::
ACTION:: Naal can see traces of blood near the rear of the shuttle, and spots of blood leading towards the hatch. Even though the shuttle is a mess, nothing indicates that the items they seek are inside::
<Naal_Doon> ::begins to move things about, sighing audibly and moving to the bloody hatch::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks around the inside of the shuttle curiously, punching a few consoles to see what still has power::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::leans against the shuttle and looks his rifle over:: Self: This is a wild bantha chase. We're never going to find that courier in this place. ::sighs and readies his weapon::
ACTION:: Brask punches a few buttons that actually do something. Power flickers on some consoles and sparks fly from others::
<Ian_Hawkins> :: pulls out a pad from his pocket and takes a look at the image on it before sighing again and putting it away::
<Brask_Key`far> :: moves to one of the sparking panels and takes out his tools again, trying to fix it::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks at Ian and narrows her eyes:: Ian: Well that's spoken like a true optimist... ::heads out the door and shoves past him:: All: Come on everyone... there's nothing here for us...
ACTION:: The winds pick up and the trees begin to sway and leaves rustle. Also, the winds carry the sounds of people moving towards the clearing::
<Van_Rid****> :: Looks around outside one last time, then forms up behind Naal ::
<Brask_Key`far> :: continues to try fixing the sparking panel::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks around hearing footsteps:: All: Someone's coming ...::whispers::... to the trees!
<Ian_Hawkins> :: pushes off of the shuttle and stops to listen to the coming voices:: Naal: Doon! ::signals that they will be having company soon and joins the others::
<Brask_Key`far> :: hears Naal's warning and quickly puts his tools away and sprints from the shuttle towards the trees::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::makes it to the edge of the clearing and crouches down for cover and to see who is coming::
<Van_Rid****> :: panics and heads for the nearest batch of trees and dives to the ground::
<Naal_Doon> ::makes for a hiding spot behind a rather large cluster of bushes and waits to see who is coming::
<Naal_Doon> :: peers anxiously over the top of the bushes to watch and listen, not moving or making a sound::
<Brask_Key`far> :: ends up near Rid**** and ducks behind a group of shrubs::
ACTION:: A group of three men and two women enter the clearing, cautiously, and spot the shuttle. After looking around a bit, they approach the shuttle's open hatch::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods and turns to the others, signalling that they are in the lead so far::
<Naal_Doon> ::signals to the others to move off slowly and back to the trail::
ACTION:: One of the systems that were powered up in the shuttle begins to smoke and spark. Minutes later, it chorts out and causes the engines to ignite briefly. This causes the grasses in the clearing to catch fire and smoke heavily. The fire spreads to the shuttle and soon it is ablaze. Minutes later, the shuttle explodes, sending fire in all directions.::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::follows the others closely::
<Brask_Key`far> :: taps Rid**** on the shoulder and points to Naal::
<Van_Rid****> :: Jumps again, and probably not the last time on this mission and dives for cover after only just getting stood up ::
<Naal_Doon> ::cowers at the explosion and stares in horror, thinking that it could have been them inside::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks back and ducks, but keeps moving::
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes off the horror and moves on::
<Brask_Key`far> :: taps Rid****::
<Van_Rid****> :: looks up ::
<Brask_Key`far> :: points towards the other two who are moving away and moves to follow them::
<Van_Rid****> :: Stands again and begins to follow :: Self: I'm going to regret this, yes indeed.
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: So, we have lost some of our competition. Does that make you feel any better?
<Brask_Key`far> :: continues to look around at his surroundings curiously, oblivious to the fact that his tinkering might have just killed five beings::
ACTION:: The winds begin to spread the fire through the trees and underbrush. The fire is now chasing them::
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head:: Ian: No one deserves to die like that...
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks back and, spotting the fire, quickens his pace, looking back once in a while to make sure Rid**** is outrunning the blaze::
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: Death comes in many ways. Which way do you think you deserve to die? ::keeps walking, without looking at her::
<Naal_Doon> Ian: I have never given it thought... I would hope it's a noble one... ::glances back over her shoulder and quickens her pace::... however I would not like it to be now either...
ACTION:: The roar of the blaze, the smoke and heat catch up to them, causing most of them to cough and move faster::
<Van_Rid****> :: mummbles incoherently to himself and continues to follow the group as fast as he can. ::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Naal: Agreed. Now is not the time. ::begins to run, not looking back for the others::
<Brask_Key`far> :: continues to move faster, not running full speed however so that he can keep an eye on Rid**** behind him::
ACTION:: Ahead and down a slope, is a small lake. On the lake is a medium sized watercraft. It doesn't show any signs of movement onboard and seems to be anchored for the moment::
<Naal_Doon> ::keeps pace with Ian as she glances over her shoulder to see the other two coming behind them::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::slows down and looks back, signalling to Naal about the slope, but trips over a fallen limb and tumbles down the slope instead::
<Naal_Doon> ::heads down the slope toward the boat::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::comes to rest halfway down the slope, arching his back:: Self: Not what I had in mind, at all.
<Brask_Key`far> :: follows Naal down the slope, almost following Ian's example and tumbling down it as it looks like fun::
<Ian_Hawkins> :: picks himself up and checks himself over before continuing down the slope in a more dignified manner::
<Van_Rid****> :: Follows behind, as per usual and slides down the slope towards the others, but fails to stop with the others and ends up near the lake, not where he wanted to be. ::
<Brask_Key`far> :: hops in the water and begins swimming out to the watercraft::
ACTION:: The fire still rages on, but the attention is now on the watercraft, which has some action on it. A scuffle and a man diving overboard, followed by blaster bolts from the men remaining on the watercraft.::
<Naal_Doon> ::ducks to the dock and gets to her belly as she carefully aims to the men in the boat, firing at them from the distance she's at::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::takes a seat on the shore and watches the show, glancing back at the fire every so often::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks back, noticing that noone else is swimming to the watercraft and stops, watching the firefight from where he is::
ACTION:: One of the men pulls up the anchor and another man takes the controls. The watercraft engines fire up and the boat begins to move, turning towards shore and the swimming man. The men onboard are not only firing at the swimming man, but are now firing on Naal too::
<Van_Rid****> :: Just drops to the ground and lays there ::
<Brask_Key`far> :: begins swimming towards the craft again, moving roughly to the right so he can get beside it and maybe grab a rope or something to climb into it::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::sighs and pulls his blaster rifle around from behind him and takes aim at the man behind the controls of the watercraft and fires a single shot::
ACTION:: Ian's shot takes out the man behind the controls, sending the watercraft on an uncontrollable course::
<Brask_Key`far> :: sees the craft running uncontrolably and dives under the water to avoid getting hit::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods and sits back again::
<Naal_Doon> ::continues to fire at the man at other man left::

ACTION:: With blasters blazing, one man stands alone on the watercraft and he is rushing to control the vessel. However, he is too late and it heads straight for the dock. A direct hit would definitely tear out the entire dock.::
<Naal_Doon> ::gets off the dock quickly and makes for the ground nearby and to hide behind a large boulder::
<Brask_Key`far> :: surfaces again once he sees the shadow of the craft pass him::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::gets up and walks further from the dock, looking back at the speeding watercraft:: Self: I guess they need better lessons on how to operate that thing.
ACTION:: The watercraft strikes the dock and rips the side of it apart and it bounces onto the shore, sending the lone man flying up the slope::
<Naal_Doon> ::watches to see if the man is rendered unconscious before moving out from behind the rock::
<Van_Rid****> :: Just cowers where he is, hoping nothing hits him ::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::watches the man land on the slope and roll back down:: Self: Guess they don't know that safety belts save lives too. ::looks at the destroyed watercraft:: But maybe it wouldn't have mattered in this case.
<Naal_Doon> ::sighs as the boat is torn to shreds and shakes her head::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks around in the water for the men who abandoned the craft::
ACTION:: The swimmer walks out of the water and falls to the shore. The watercraft engines smolder to a stop, and the man who flew is dead from impact::
<Naal_Doon> ::gets up and heads over to the man, searching him incase he has what they are looking for::
<Naal_Doon> Ian: Search the man that was just thrown from the boat...
<Naal_Doon> ::nods to Key'Far:: Key'Far: You take a look in that boat... ::nods to Rid**** to do the same::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::walks over to the swimmer and crouches down:: Swimmer: What was that all about? ::looks to Naal:: Naal: Doon, you don't think we should talk to this one first?
<Naal_Doon> ::nods to Ian:: Ian: If he's conscious
<Swimmer> ::rolls over and coughs:: Ian: They were going to kill me.
<Naal_Doon> ::rolls her eyes:: Swimmer: I never would have guessed....
<Brask_Key`far> :: swims back to shore::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks down at the swimmer:: Naal: Yeah, he's conscious. ::takes a seat next to the wet man:: Swimmer: Why would they want to do a thing like that?
<Swimmer> ::looks at both of them:: Both: They were after what I had with me. They got it, but I got away before they could finish the job.
<Naal_Doon> ::squats down next to him:: Swimmer: What was it??
<Brask_Key`far> :: sees Naal and Ian talking with the man from the water and moves to check the boat::
<Swimmer> Naal: It was a set of documents. Important ones by the sounds of things. I'm not sure what is on them, but I will have hell to pay if I don't get them to my client. I'm way overdue as it is.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods and looks to Naal:: Naal: Perhaps we should have a look on the watercraft for those documents. ::looks to the man:: Swimmer: Then we can get you back on your way. ::smiles::
<Brask_Key`far> :: begins searching the craft::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods and moves over to the dead man:: Ian: You do that... I'll search this body...
ACTION:: The heat from the fire is closing in on them, as it has began it's way down the slope by now. The smoke is being blown away from them, but the fire is advancing.::
<Van_Rid****> :: rolls over and sits up, picking his blaster up from the ground where it slipped out of its holster. ::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods to the Naal and then to the swimmer:: Swimmer: Come with me. Maybe you can help. ::gets up and helps the swimmer up::
ACTION:: Brask comes across a strange container within the wreckage::
<Naal_Doon> ::gets to the body of the dead man and searches him, looking for the documents the swimmer was talking about::
<Brask_Key`far> :: takes out some of his tools and checks for a lock on the container::
<Naal_Doon> ::comes up with nothing that would resemble documents but notices something peculiar at the back of his neck and looks closer::
<Naal_Doon> ::notices the tatoo and raises her eyebrows:: Self: Interesting...::stands and leaves the man only to return to the boat and the others::
<Van_Rid****> :: Figures he's been pretty much forgotten, so stands and goes to sit further off from the group and the dead man. ::
<Brask_Key`far> :: takes the container:: All: I think I found something.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::gets to the wreckage and sees Brask:: Brask: Key'far, what you got there?
<Naal_Doon> All: That man has an interesting tattoo on the back of his neck... it's one of a merc definitely...
<Swimmer> All: That's it! ::reaches out for it::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to Naal:: Naal: I guess we weren't at the head of the pack afterall. We are now, though. ::grins::
<Brask_Key`far> :: keeps a firm grip on the container but doesn't move it away from the Swimmer::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Ian: We should make our contact... tell them we found what we were looking for....
<Swimmer> ::gets hold of the container, but can't get it loose from Brask:: Brask: Hey! That's mine! Let go!
<Brask_Key`far> Swimmer: Oh is it? I'm sorry. But are you sure? :: doesn't let go yet::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods and looks to Van:: Van: Rid****! Time to contact HQ.

<Brask_Key`far> :: looks at the container:: Swimmer: That is a genetic lock on there and it doesn't seem to be responding to you. :: keeps holding the container::
<Naal_Doon> ::gives the swimmer an odd look:: Swimmer: Then I'm sure you don't mind if we deliver it for you... you can come with us of course....
<Swimmer> ::doesn't let go of the container:: Brask: Only my client can open it. ::looks over at Naal:: Naal: I don't know who you people are, but you are not much better than those other ones. Let me have it and be on my way.
<Van_Rid****> :: Looks up and over at Ian :: Ian: And?
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks at the others:: All: Should I?
<Naal_Doon> Swimmer: Our orders were to find you and recover what you were delivering... we're only doing our job... Mr... ::implies that he fill in his name here::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::sighs:: Van: And you are the one to do so. Come on, Man!
<Swimmer> ::shakes his head:: Naal: I have my orders as well. If I am another day later, I'll get fired for sure.
<Van_Rid****> :: Mumbles under his breath and gets out his Comm and begins entering the commcode for headquaters ::
<Naal_Doon> Swimmer: Don't worry... we'll see that you get it there on time...
<Naal_Doon> ::smiles:: Swimmer: Or rather... not much later than now
<Van_Rid****> Ian: What do I tell them?
<Swimmer> ::nods:: Naal: Then let me have the documents. I'm sure that since I will be in your charge, you will see that they will be safe as well.
<Brask_Key`far> :: keeps his grip on the container and waits for someone in the group to tell him what to do::
<Ian_Hawkins> Van: Tell HQ that we have found the courier and the documents. We need to know what they want us to do from here. Also let them know that the courier has requested to complete his delivery.
<Van_Rid****> :: He nods and begins to relay the message. ::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks back up the slope and at the fire:: All: I might suggest moving on from here. ::nods to the fire::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks to Rid**** while waiting for an answer from Pinnacle::
<Brask_Key`far> :: hears Ian and starts towards the water::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks at the approaching fire:: Ian: It would be wise... :: purposely moves behind the swimmer casualy and glances at the back of his neck for the same tattoo as the other guy had, while she moves to stand in the water away from the fire::
ACTION:: Pinnacle Inc. responds to Van's transmission, stating that they should aide ing the delivery of the documents after verifying that the courier is who he implies to be.::
<Swimmer> ::gets pulled along by Brask, towards the water:: Brask: Let go!
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks back over his shoulder at the man:: Swimmer: You should be fine, you were swimming just fine earlier. And we really should get away from that fire. :: continues moving towards the water, while keeping his grip on the container::
<Van_Rid****> :: Sighs as he puts away the comm :: All: We're to escort him, if he's who he says he is.
<Swimmer> ::looks back towards the others:: Brask: I think they meant along the shore. ::in an aggitated tone::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks back at the others:: Swimmer: Maybe, but the water would be much safer from the fire. If you don't want to follow me you can let go of the container, I promise I won't run off with it.
<Swimmer> ::looks back towards the others again:: Brask: It's mine. I won't let go. ::in a more aggitated tone::
<Naal_Doon> ::moves into the water:: Swimmer: Look, we have our orders... if you don't co-operate and let us do our job, then I'll stun you and carry you the rest of the way... we're not going to steal the documents... we're here to do the same as you... make sure they get where they're supposed to be going.
<Brask_Key`far> :: stops walking/wading when he hears Naal:: Swimmer: You see. We aren't here to steal them.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::wades out to them:: All: What harm would it be to let him hold the container, as long as we have a blaster trained on him at all times.
<Brask_Key`far> Ian: I don't mind giving it to him. I was just waiting for one of you to tell me to.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to Naal:: Naal: Well, Doon?
<Naal_Doon> ::sighs and rolls her eyes:: Ian: Fine...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to Brask and nods::
<Brask_Key`far> :: lets go of the container::
<Swimmer> :: pulls the container close to his chest:: All: Thank you. Now how do we get out of this system?
<Ian_Hawkins> :: pulls his blaster:: Swimmer: We have a ship back at the main port. Hope you don't mind the blaster. It's for everyone's safety.
<Naal_Doon> Ian: So how do we get around that fire?
