Assignment 010605 - Episode Seven

EPISODE SEVEN:
The group and the slave girls have been betrayed by the Devaronian woman and her two comrades. They are now in the hands of Taak Primar.
They have been separated and put into cells, two to a cell. The girl who is believed to be Jennell is in a cell by herself.
It has been two hours since they were captured. All attempts to escape the cells have been met with violent shocks and sonic attacks. There is little they can do, until Taak himself shows his face.

%$%$% BEGIN EPISODE SEVEN %$%$%

<Kahlan> ::sits on the floor in the middle of her cell well away from the bars that she has been shocked on too many times::
<Brask_Key`far> :: stands quietly in one of the back corners of the cell, looking around, trying to figure a way out::
<Naal_Doon> ::sits on a bunk with her legs pulled up to her chest wondering what's going to happen to them::
<Naal_Doon> ::watches Keyan snoozing across from her and scowls:: Self: How can he even rest at a time like this?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks over to the slave, then back towards the small window in the door of the cell:: Slave: Do you have a name?
<Kahlan> ::watches as Brask looks around the cell:: Brask: I'd give up if I were you.

ACTION:: Droid guards whir past the cells, stopping to scan each one before moving to the next::

<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: The only sure way to lose at something is to give up.
<Kahlan> Brask: I didn't mean to give up on life, but for the time being I think there is no way out of these cells. Another opportunity will no doubt soon present itself.
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Perhaps. But the odds suggest either torture or death over escape at this time. So what have we to lose by continuing to try? :: smiles and walks over to the door, examining it for the hundredth time, not touching it however::
<Kahlan> ::laughs:: Brask: I suppose that's a point well taken. But for now, I think I will avoid pain as long as I can.
<Slave> ::looks up at Ian:: Ian: I am called Delia. The name my parents gave me is Deliniariana. I guess people are too lazy to call me by my given name.
<Naal_Doon> ::lies back on the bunk and rests her wrist against her forehead, wondering if she could change into something useful::
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Living beings usually should avoid pain. :: smiles and continues to look at the door::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks back at her again:: Dee: Call me lazy then, because I'll be calling you Dee. Hope you don't mind. Short is good when in a hurry.
<Kahlan> Brask: Usually. If you feel the need to touch that door again though, please remember that they took my medical supplies. I can not help you.
<Dee> ::nods:: Ian: I guess so. ::sits on a bunk:: Why did you come here?
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: I will be fine. :: smiles his usual smile before moving to one of the bunks and checking for anything one it that he might could break off and use as a tool::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks back out the window:: Dee: I came here because I was paid to. I had to find a girl who was kidnapped into slavery and bring her back.
<Dee> ::chuckles softly:: Ian: That seems to fit everyone I know here.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Dee: Yes, I guess so. ::turns and takes a seat on the other bunk:: This girl was different. Not so different, but her father really went to great trouble to pay us to come for her. It looks like we may have failed him. ::sighs::

ACTION:: A droid moves to a cell and opens the door. With a bright flash of light, Keyan is stunned and the weapon is pointed at Doon. A voice tells her to follow the droid::

<Naal_Doon> ::sits up quickly and suddenly feels a little nervous. She follows the droid cautiously::
<Kahlan> ::watches Brask:: Brask: No luck huh?

ACTION:: More droids accompany Doon and lead her out another door at the end of a very long corridor::

<Naal_Doon> ::looks around as she is led from the cell, thinking... looking for an opportunity to try and escape::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::stands and moves to the window quickly, not being able to see anything... shakes his head in frustration::
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Unfortunately no. I suppose force might be in order. :: walks back to the door and slams his fist on the window, once, very hard::
<Naal_Doon> Droid: Where are you taking me?

ACTION:: Doors close swiftly behind them as they pass through them. The droids come to a set of double doors, which slide open. The droids do not enter, but they make room for Doon to pass::

<Dee> Ian: What is it?
<Ian_Hawkins> Dee: Someone was taken. I couldn't see who. ::goes back to his bunk:: It can't be good.
<Naal_Doon> :: pauses before stepping slowly through the doors. Looks around as she does so::

ACTION:: The doors close behind her. The room is much like the room where the slave girls were kept, except no lavish decor on the walls and ceilings. Everything is very white and clean. In the middle of the room is a circular piece of furniture. It looks very comfortable. Across the room is another door, but it is closed.::

<Taak> ::via a speaker:: Doon: Sit. Make yourself comfortable. ::in a pleasant voice::
<Naal_Doon> Taak: I'd rather stand thanks
<Taak> Doon: Suit yourself. ::still via speaker:: Why did you come to my home?
<Naal_Doon> ::folds her arms and leans against a wall:: Taak: It just looked so pretty from the outside, I just had to see what was inside... Why have you captured us?

ACTION:: Brask's fist goes through the window, breaking it. Almost instantly, his body stiffens from the pulses of electricity being pumped through it. His muscles can not react fast enough to pull himself free, and he may be destined to die from electrocution::

<Kahlan> ::jumps up from the floor and runs into Brask, hard, trying to knock him away from the door without getting stuck to the charge herself::
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Well, perhaps this wasn't the best of plans. :: shaking from the electricity and trying to pull himself free::
<Taak> ::via speaker once again:: Doon: Were you captured or did you give yourself up? I seem to recall you walking right into the room where you were asked to relieve yourself of your weapons, and you did. I think you gave up.

ACTION:: Kahlan bounces off of Brask, but her hit is enough to jar his fist free of the window::

<Brask_Key`far> :: falls backwards to the ground, flat on his back, his arm smoking a bit::
<Kahlan> ::stumbles a bit before catching her balance and turning to kneel beside Brask::
<Kahlan> Brask: Next time I tell you not to get hurt, try just nodding and sitting still huh?
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: I will take that into consideration next time. :: sits up and looks at the door:: At least the window is broken now.

ACTION:: Droids move to the door and open it, weapons ready to stun whoever tries to escape. They scan both Kahlan and Brask before moving out and closing the door again::

<Kahlan> Brask: Which does us no earthly good as far as I can see. ::watches as the droids enter, then leave::
<Brask_Key`far> :: stands and walks back over to the door, not touching it however, and examines it once again:: Kahlan: Perhaps.
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head and pushes off from the wall, looking up and around as if talking to the walls:: Taak: Ooooohhhh no! I don't think so, that's not how it happened. We trusted those poor excuses for slave girls of yours to lead us out of here! I tried to warn them. I said that we were going down too far for my liking but did they listen? Nooooo...
<Naal_Doon> :: begins pacing the room in frustration:: Taak: She told us to drop our weapons.... and we did... we were hardly asked....
<Taak> ::chuckles via speaker:: Doon: And you blame them for your being foolish enough to follow slaves through a building that they probably never saw more than one room of? Not very intelligent of you. I'm quite disappointed. I was hoping for you to be the smartest of the bunch. I now see that I was wrong.

Assignment 010605 - Episode Seven Cont'd

(continued)

<Brask_Key`far> :: moves back to the bunks, checking to see if they are secured to the floor and what they are made of::

ACTION:: The sounds of heavy thuds can be heard outside the cells. Large droids surrounded by the security droids arrive to Kahlan and Brask's cell. The door opens once more::

<Brask_Key`far> :: stands and moves away from the bunk, looking at the door::
<Kahlan> ::stands next to Brask:: Brask: Now look what you did.

ACTION:: The large droids begin to work on the door. One has a replacement ready to install::

<Brask_Key`far> :: looks the security droids over, trying to pin point vital systems from his slicing knowledge::
<Naal_Doon> ::narrows her eyes:: Taak: If you think trying to insult me is going to get you anywhere you can think again... ::smirks to herself, knowing her act is working::
<Taak> ::chuckles once more via speaker:: Doon: Insulting? I would never do such a thing. I only speak my mind and tell what I see. If you are insulted by it, that is your own misfortune. :: pauses a moment:: Would you care for some refreshment?

ACTION:: One of the large droids carries the damaged door away, while the other one moves in to install the replacement. The security droids remain with their weapons pointed at the prisoners::

<Naal_Doon> :: nods:: Taak: Sure... only if you'll join me... ::smiles::
<Taak> Doon: I would be delighted. One moment please. ::still via speaker::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::listens to the droids outside:: Dee: What happened with you? How did you get here?
<Dee> ::leans back on her bunk:: Ian: I was working a club when a very good looking man asked me if I wanted to make enough credits to retire on in only a few days. I was stupid and told him I would do anything to be rich. ::gets an upset look across her face:: I'll kill him if I see him again.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Dee: I wouldn't blame you. I'm sure they lure many women that same way.
<Naal_Doon> :: crosses the room and sits on the round piece of furniture waiting for Taak::

ACTION:: The door across the room opens and a very large man ducks through it and into the room::

<Naal_Doon> ::sits and lets down her hair, combing it with her fingers, turning to smile at the man as he enters the room::Taak: Are you Taak? ::smiles::
<Taak> ::carrying a small tray with food and drinks:: Doon: I can only offer what I have available.
<Naal_Doon> ::looks hungrily at the tray:: Taak: Oh thank goodness, I'm starved...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::gets to the sofa and stops, just out of reach of Doon:: Doon: Ahh ah! You still haven't told me why you came here. Who sent you?
<Kahlan> ::stands in the room, not moving, watching the droids repair the door::
<Kahlan> ::guages the distance to the door, counts the droids carefully, and ponders her odds::
<Naal_Doon> ::leans on one arm and looks up at him longingly, smiling sweetly at him:: Taak: Can't I tell you that over our drink? I'm more relaxed on a full stomach

ACTION:: The large droid moves away from the repaired door. The security droids begin programming the codes into the door. Brask sees everything they do, in great detail.::

<Taak> ::smiles wide:: Doon: I'm sure you are. ::hands her one of the glasses:: Drink up then.
<Kahlan> ::shakes her head, knowing she'd never escape before they shot her, and hoping that Brask can remember all that he sees::

ACTION:: The security droids finish and close the door behind them::

<Naal_Doon> ::smiles and takes the glass, patting a space next to her:: Taak: Aren't you going to join me?
<Taak> ::shakes his head:: Doon: No, that is for you. I don't need to sit down. ::smiles:: Enjoy the drink and then we can talk.
<Naal_Doon> ::frowns:: Taak: I see... well, that is disappointing... ::holds the drink in her hand::
<Taak> Doon: Oh? Why is that?
<Kahlan> Brask: So? Can you unprogram what they did?
<Brask_Key`far> :: stays where he is until he no longer hears the droids outside:: Kahlan: Perhaps.
<Brask_Key`far> :: moves slowly to the door and looks out the window, without touching the door of course::
<Naal_Doon> Taak: Because I can't trust anyone who doesn't drink the same thing as I have...
<Taak> ::smiles and holds out his hand fr the glass:: Doon: Let me take a sip first then.
<Naal_Doon> ::gives him the glass::
<Taak> ::takes a small sip and hands it back:: Doon: Mmm, tastes as good as I remember it to be.
<Kahlan> ::looks closely at the walls to either side of the door, hoping to find a seam of some kind that might allow access to the control panel from the back::
<Naal_Doon> ::takes the glass back and smiles up at him:: Taak: That's more like it.... ::holds the glass up:: Cheers then... ::tips the glass up and takes a teensy sip, closing her lips on the rim to allow very little in but making it look like she took a bigger gulp::
<Taak> ::smiles:: Doon: I'm glad you like it. Take your time with it. I'll just drink this other one, if you don't mind. :: puts the tray on the sofa and picks up the other glass::
<Brask_Key`far> :: runs the codes he saw the droids put in over in his mind as he runs his hand over the wall opposite where the console is on the outside, helping Kahlan look for a seam::
<Naal_Doon> ::leans back on the sofa:: Taak: Now are you going to sit with me? Or do I have to beg? ::smiles seductively::

ACTION:: The window in the door opens. Moments later, it closes. Then the door opens.::

<Taak> ::laughs:: Doon: Beg if you like. Finish your drink or tell me who sent you. Then I'll have a seat.
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks at the door and raises an eyebrow:: Kahlan: Well that's odd. :: moves to the door and looks out to see who opened it::
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: It appears the odds were wrong. :: smiles and moves outside and to the next cell::
<Kahlan> Brask: I don't like this... ::sighs and follows anyway as he just walks out without a care::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Taak: Fair enough... ::looks up at him:: I don't know his name... I was just sent to find someone...
<Kahlan> Brask: It makes no sense, therefore it is likely not good.
<Taak> ::sips his drink:: Doon: Who were you to find?
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Perhaps.. :: moves to the next cell's window and looks inside::
<Kahlan> Brask: Did it not occur to you that we are unarmed? ::looks up and down the hall::
<Naal_Doon> :: thinks for a moment then shakes her head:: Taak: Some girl that's in your care... Jenness.... Jenivieve... Hmm... what was her name again?
<Taak> ::chuckles again:: Doon: Don't prove me right about your intelligence. I'm sure you know exactly who sent you and who you were to find. How could you come here not knowing such things?
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Yes, but there is little we can do to change that now. But the more people we have, the better our chances are. :: moves down to Ian's cell and punches in the codes for his and Kahlan's cell hoping on the off chance that they are the same::

ACTION:: An alarm sounds as Brask punches in the final code::

Assignment 010605 - Episode Seven Cont'd

(continued)

<Kahlan> ::rolls her eyes but refrains from saying I told you so::
<Kahlan> Brask: Now what?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::jumps up after seeing a brief glimpse of Brask at the window:: Self: What the...?
<Brask_Key`far> Self: Blast.. Kahlan: We'll have to come back for them. :: quickly picks a direction and heads down it::
<Kahlan> ::follows Brask::

ACTION:: Doors on both ends of the corridor open and two security droids float in from each of them::

<Taak> ::sips his drink casually, looking Doon over from head to toe:: Doon: Or maybe you think me an idiot?
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Stay down! :: runs at the nearest security droid and tries to kickjump off the side wall and kick it::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks up at him as her smile fades:: Taak: And if I tell you? Where will that leave me? Scott free? I don't think so. Either way you're just going to have me a slave just like the rest of your harem.
<Kahlan> ::ignores Brask's orders and runs at a droid at the same end of the hall as Brask, kicking at it::
<Taak> ::laughs loudly:: Doon: As entertaining that may be, I don't think you would fit into a harem of mine. However, if you wished to be employeed by me, I'm sure we could work something out that would be more than agreeable for both of us. ::grins::

ACTION:: The two security droids are too slow to react and become victims of the two assailants, but they are only slightly damaged. However, the other two droids move faster to come to their aid::

<Naal_Doon> ::smiles and chuckles herself:: Taak: Thanks, but I get much more satisfaction out of my current employer....
<Kahlan> ::turns around to kick at one of the droids coming in from behind::
<Taak> Doon: who is your current employer? I'm sure he can't be as kind or generous as I.
<Brask_Key`far> :: grabs one of the damaged droids and tries to throw it at one of the approaching ones::
<Naal_Doon> ::laughs:: Taak: I hardly doubt that.

ACTION:: Kahlan gets stunned by the droids as both of them fire on her at once. The attacked droids finally fall to the floor due to Brask's continuous poundings::

<Taak> Doon: How can you be so sure? No one I know is better at being an employer than I am.

ACTION:: Brask's use of a damaged droid pays off, but he only hits one of the droids. The remaining droid swerves and turns to attack him::

<Brask_Key`far> :: ducks and rolls under the droid, then strikes up at it's underside with his fist::
<Naal_Doon> ::shrugs:: Taak: How can YOU be so sure? Even if I was interested... you said I wouldn't fit anyway...

ACTION:: The droid stops floating and rolls on the floor, unable to attack, but is still active::

<Brask_Key`far> :: moves to the last droid and gives it a swift kick towards the nearest wall::
<Taak> Doon: Please. You are being as unintelligent as you seemed. I said you wouldn't fit into a harem. I don't employ my harems. ::sips his drink:: In any case, if you don't wish to be employed by me, you can still serve some of my clients.

ACTION:: The droid is smashed and dead. The alarm continues to sound.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: moves to the nearest downed droid and rips out anything visible that could be used as a slicing tool, before moving back to Ian's cell::
<Dee> Ian: What's going on? What is that sound?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks over to her:: Dee: Don't worry. We are safe in here. It's just an alarm sounding off because somethign went wrong outside.
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head:: Taak: No thanks... and if I'm as unintelligent as you thought, then why am I still here?
<Brask_Key`far> :: gets an idea and moves back to the droids and to the least damaged one, before checking for an access to the computer memory core::
<Taak> ::finishes his drink and looks at Doon's glass:: Doon: I would have liked it if you had finished with me. Drink. :: pushes the tray towards her. Have some food too.

ACTION:: The droids begin to smoke one by one, as their memory cores begin to burn out to prevent them from being used.::

<Naal_Doon> ::makes a face and looks down into the glass:: Taak: It's not a particularly pleasing drink if you don't mind my saying...
<Brask_Key`far> :: quickly tries to access the cell codes before the core is fried::
<Taak> ::shakes his head:: Doon: It is alright. Not everyone has a taste for the sophisticated. ::reaches for the glass:: Let me take it then.
<Brask_Key`far> :: moves back to the droid he ripped appart eariler and checks it, hoping he might have disconnected the core when he was looking for parts to use::
<Naal_Doon> ::hands him the glass:: Taak: I have a more civilized pallette....
<Taak> ::grins:: Doon: For what civilization? ::chuckles:: It's ok. Go ahead and eat. I'll just set this over here. ::walks towards the door::

ACTION:: Kahlan begins to stir as Brask holds a core in his hand::

<Kahlan> ::moans softly as she reaches a hand up to hold her head::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks down at the memory core in his hand and hopes it hasn't been fried, he moves to another droid and tries to find a power source, all the while thinking about what all might be stored in the core::

ACTION:: Bolts of electricity jump and arc all over the coreless droid, as it tries to destroy itself. One of the bolts fine it's way to Brask's foot, giving him a short jolt::

<Kahlan> ::sits up, slowly, mentally checking over her body and finding no serious injuries::
<Naal_Doon> ::shifts into a savage animal like creature while Taak's back is turned and jumps him from behind::
<Brask_Key`far> :: shakes his leg and then notices that the core has it's own power source and stands:: Self: Why didn't I notice that? :: shakes his head and takes the core over to the control panel on the wall next to his and Kahlan's cell::
<Taak> ::grins and shakes Doon off easily:: Doon: I would have liked you better as something more pleasing, but I guess this suits you. :: puts his hand on the door and waves his other hand in the air::
<Kahlan> Brask: You think you can find a way to shut off this alarm?

ACTION:: The room brightens and Doon is lifted off the floor and tossed to the sofa, feeling as if she is being crushed onto it. ::

<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: We'll see. :: opens the control panel and tries to hook the core up to it so he can use it's screen to read the data on the core::
<Naal_Doon> ::groans in pain as the breath is squeezed out of her for the moment::
<Taak> ::shakes his head:: Doon: This is only for your own good. ::opens the door and exits the room, closing the door behind him::
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: Good to see you've recovered. Please keep an eye out for any more trouble. :: smiles and turns back to the panel::
<Kahlan> Brask: I don't think I'll be running any marathons for at least a few minutes yet, but I can manage to watch your back. ::sits in her spot in the hall, looking from one door, to the other, and back again::

ACTION:: Codes fly across the screen as Brask accesses the core. It is too fast for a human to read. The codes stop and the core begins to overheat::

<Brask_Key`far> :: disconnects the core and drops it to the floor, before moving back to Ian's cell and trying the code for it::
<Naal_Doon> ::tries to shift back, but finds the effort too great to do so and just lies there and does nothing. Feels her temper flare as she fights the pressure bearing down on her::
<Brask_Key`far> :: punches in the code to shut off the alarms as well after the cell code::
<Naal_Doon> ::lets out a roar in the animal shape she is in, hoping someone will hear her:: Self: When I get my hands on Taak, I'm turning myself into a boar-wolf....

ACTION:: The codes work, the cell doors slide open and the alarms turn off. Something else happens as well. The floors and walls begin to vibrate slightly for just a few minutes and then all seems normal again. The whirring of droids can be heard in the distance coming towards the cells. Meanwhile, in the room where Doon is, the lights dim very low and the pressure against her is lifted, releasing her.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: peeks his head in Ian's door:: Ian: Time to go.
<Kahlan> ::looks around as the walls and floors shake:: Brask: Thank you, I think...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks up at Brask:: Brask: What just happened?
<Brask_Key`far> Ian: We have escaped, sort of. In any case we should prepare for a fight. :: moves back to the next cell to check on the rest of the group::
<Naal_Doon> ::feels the pressure released and instantly shifts back into herself, getting to her feet and heading to the door:: Taak: Okay Taak, that was a nice little trick... you wanna tell me what it was supposed to prove?
<Dee> ::looks to Ian and then to Brask, frightened::

ACTION:: Doon's question is only met with a cold silence as the temperature begins to drop in the room::

<Naal_Doon> ::shivers::

Assignment 010605 - Episode Eight

EPISODE EIGHT:

Taak Primar has Naal Doon confined to a room with a round sofa for it's only piece of furniture. Nothing else can be seen in the room. All surfaces are smooth with no seams or protrusions. After she was released from the artificial gravity well within the room, the temperature dropped to zero. Any further and she could freeze to death.
The others are out of their cells. Where they go now is up to them. There is no sign of where Doon was taken. The sounds of security droids draw nearer by the second. How many is unknown, as of yet.

%$%$% BEGIN EPISODE EIGHT %$%$%

<Brask_Key`far> :: finishes checking the slaves and turns to Ian:: Ian: I suggest we find Doon and get out of here. We are vastly outnumbered in this place.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks around:: Brask: Where is she?
<Naal_Doon> ::shivers in the intense cold of the room as she huddles near the sofa trying to use the fabric for some kind of warmth::
<Brask_Key`far> Ian: I don't know, but she isn't here so she must have been taken elsewhere.
<Kahlan> Brask: Now there was a difficult conclusion to come to. ::grins at him::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Brask: That is obvious, but we need to know which way to start first.
<Naal_Doon> ::tries to summon the energy to shift into something with fur to keep her warm, but she is so cold at this point, she is too weak to even try as she wraps her arms tightly around her body and her legs drawn up to her chest::
<Brask_Key`far> :: shrugs at Ian:: Ian: The odds are close to even for either direction so we might as well just pick one.
<Kahlan> All: We need to do something and fast. Flip a coin maybe? ::shrugs:: I can see no other way to decide.

ACTION:: The sound of droids approaching is loud enough to tell that they are coming from one end of the corridor. The other end leads towards Doon, but they obviously don't know that yet.::

<Naal_Doon> ::feels her teeth start to chatter::
<Kahlan> ::hears the droids:: All: Why don't we try the other way from them?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::hears the droids coming:: All: This way sounds good. We need to find weapons first of all.
<Brask_Key`far> :: waits for someone to make a clear decision and, hearing Ian, follows him::

ACTION:: The door slides open and droids move into the corridor, firing at them as soon as they are spotted.::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::waves the slave girls passed::All: Come on! Let's move it!
<Naal_Doon> ::sits patiently and shivers as she waits, for something, anything to happen, feeling herself get drowsy as she leans against the sofa resting her her head::
<Brask_Key`far> :: moves behind Kahlan but continues moving::
<Kahlan> ::follows Ian::
<Taak> ::via speaker:: Doon: Oh, I see you are still there. I don't suppose you will cooperate now, will you?
<Naal_Doon> ::grits her teeth in spite and closes her eyes at Taak's voice... choosing not to answer him::

ACTION:: The droids begin to catch up and fast, still shooting. It's amazing how they haven't hit anyone yet though.::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::wishes he had his blaster:: All: Faster!
<Brask_Key`far> :: stays behind Kahlan, keeping his pace tuned slightly slower than hers so that he won't run into her::
<Kahlan> All: I have the strangest feeling that those droids are herding us exactly where they want us to go. They could have killed us long ago.
<Naal_Doon> ::moves her hands to a warmer spot of her body as she tugs her shirt around her more snuggly, shivering violently::
<Taak> ::still through the speaker:: Doon: I'll take that as a no. Perhaps some warmth in exchange for answers to my questions?
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Care to test that theory? ::continues to push the slave girls on::
<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: You could be right, however it does us no good since we are unlikely to defeat that many droids without casualties were we to stop and fight.
<Kahlan> ::laughs and keeps going:: Ian: No thank you.
<Naal_Doon> ::moves her head slowly and her eyes narrow:: Taak: Wh-whatever you d-d-do is up to y-y-you.
<Ian_Hawkins> :: ducks around the next corner:: All: Keep going and don't look back!
<Taak> Doon: No, the choice is yours. Freeze or cooperate. I don't mind either way.
<Brask_Key`far> :: continues on, considering scooping up Kahlan and running full speed, but doesn't want to possibly outrun the slaves::
<Kahlan> ::runs around the corner::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::watches the others move on and looks back towards the droids:: Self: This is the dumbest thing I've ever done.
<Naal_Doon> ::laughs slowly and weakly:: Taak: Surely you can't be dumb enough to think that I'll cooperate now after you trying to freeze me to death...
<Brask_Key`far> :: follows Kahlan around the corner, looking back at Ian for a moment, not liking Ian's odds if he is going to do what he thinks he is::
<Taak> ::laughs heartily:: Doon: Death? I think not. Extreme discomfort would be more likely. You won't die, unless I wish it. You do have the choice of being much more comfortable.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::as the first droid rouns the corner, he jumps out and wrestles it around:: Droid: Come on!
<Kahlan> ::looks back for a second:: Ian: What are you doing?
<Naal_Doon> ::mutters something threatening under her breath but remains still, keeping the heat into her body with her lack of movement::

ACTION:: The droid gets confused at the sudden change of orientation and begins firing wildly. Some of the shots take out other droids, but soon, the other droids move close enough to fire and disable the droid::

<Brask_Key`far> Kahlan: He is buying us time. All: We must hurry.
<Taak> Doon: Very well, then. Sad but you will suffer.
<Kahlan> ::mumbles something under her breath but keeps moving::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::tosses the droid at the others and takes off running at top speed:: All: I told you not to look back! Go! Go!

ACTION:: The rest of the droids take pursuit. A shot grazes Ian's shoulder causing him to stumble a bit::

<Naal_Doon> ::cringes inwardly as she balls up her fists, her shivering becoming more intense. She utters threats to Taak under her breath and sincerely hopes that the others have broken free::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::smacks into a wall, but keeps moving, grabbing his shoulder to feel how bad it is.::

ACTION:: The temperature in Doon's room changes and quickly. Heat is pumped into the room at a fantastic rate. The feeling of burning skin is a sensation Doon is most likely to feel with the sudden difference.::

<Naal_Doon> ::covers any part of her that is exposed to the air so the intense change in temperature won't be as drastic. Though she does bite back a few whimpers::

ACTION:: A minute after Ian's little delay tactic, it seems that the group has lost them, or they had given up the chase. Either way, they come to the end of the passageway and are face to face with a set of double doors.::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::keeps looking over his shoulder for the droids, as he slows down to a walk::

ACTION:: The heat is a very dry heat and breathing becomes difficult. It feels like two suns are battling it out for space in her room::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::walks up to the others:: All: OK, why did we stop?
<Kahlan> Ian: We got to the end
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks at the doors for a moment then moves to the control panel and checks for alarms and such, by sight most likely since he still has no tools::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks at the doors:: Kahlan: Doesn't look like the end to me. ::looks to Brask:: Brask: Are these doors a problem?
<Kahlan> Ian: Well it is momentarily, until Brask has a look. ::shrugs and smiles::
<Naal_Doon> ::as if she didn't feel weak enough from the shivering, she lays down on the couch in her weakness, sweat beginning to soak her body::

Assignment 010605 - Episode Eight Cont'd

(continued)

ACTION:: Slowly the temperature begins to drop and the heat subsides::

<Brask_Key`far> :: closes the panel:: Ian: Well this isn't going to be easy. These doors are locked by a password encryption. Without my tools it will take me a while to bypass it.
<Ian_Hawkins> Brask: Just do it before the droids change their minds again.
<Naal_Doon> ::her breathing becomes a little more steady as she realizes the temp is going down. Wonders how severe it will be this time::
<Brask_Key`far> :: nods and examines the wires and relays, trying to determine which ones lead to the security lock and the fastest way to disengage said lock::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to the slave girls, who are just catching their breaths from the run::
<Brask_Key`far> :: closes the panel and sighs:: Self: Well this could be a big problem. :: outloud::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to Brask:: Brask: Care to explain?
<Taak> ::enters a code and opens the door... walks into the room:: Doon: You don't look very good. I'll be generous and give you one last chance. ::grins::
<Brask_Key`far> Ian: Well I can't bypass the password lock. So I'll have to crack the code. And if it is a high enough security lock, I might only have a few tries to get it right before bad things happen.
<Kahlan> Brask: Bad things? So what else is new? ::leans against the wall::
<Ian_Hawkins> Brask: Bad things? I have a bad feeling about this.
<Naal_Doon> ::wearily raises her head and looks at him:: Taak: Or else what...?
<Taak> Doon: Let's just say that you only had a taste of what could happen to you.
<Naal_Doon> ::chuckles as she sits up slowly:: Taak: Am I supposed to be scared by that?
<Brask_Key`far> :: cycles through the codes in his mind that he got from the droid core for any that might be for this door::
<Taak> ::shakes his head:: Doon: I'm not here to scare you. I'm here to get answers. It's very simple. No answers and suffer. Give me answers and continue to live in comfort. No scaring involved.

ACTION:: The door lock beeps as the password is entered.::

<Taak> ::looks quickly to the other doors and then rushes out of the room, locking his door behind him::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks at the panel, a bit surprised:: Self: Well that was odd. :: shrugs and pushes the door control to open it::

ACTION:: The doors slide open to reveal a white room with smooth walls and a sofa in the middle of the room with Doon on top of it.::

<Ian_Hawkins> Brask: I thought you said it would be a problem.
<Kahlan> :: pushes off from the wall and looks into the room:: All: I think we found her.
<Brask_Key`far> Ian: It should have been. :: stays at the doors to make sure they don't close and trap them::
<Kahlan> All: Though I can't help but feel we were meant to...
<Naal_Doon> ::looks at the door that Taak just ran out of then back at the doors that just opened. Points to the doors opposite them:: All: He went in there! Taak! You just missed him
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks around the room:: Doon: And you just sat there?
<Naal_Doon> ::her eyes narrow to little slits as she glares at Ian with a sarcastic smile:: Ian: Yes, I did. I was waiting for you to show up and get him, good thing you got here in time... ::her breathing just now coming back to normal::
<Kahlan> :: peers at Doon thoughtfully:: Ian: Let her be. Sith knows what he's done to her. ::walks over to her:: Naal: You all right?
<Brask_Key`far> All: Perhaps we should all find the exit as soon as possible?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods and frowns:: All: I don't care about Taak. I just want to get out of this place. ::looks around more:: Doon: Any other way out, besides Taak's exit?
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Kahlan: Yeah, I think I'll be okay now that my body is actually a comfortable temperature right now.... ::shoots a look at Ian:: Ian: How the hell should I know? I've been in here the whole time...::gets to her feet::
<Brask_Key`far> Naal: I believe Ian means exits from this room. :: trying to be helpful::
<Kahlan> Naal: Temperature huh? Interesting idea. Proving once again that there is more than one way to de-fur a feline.
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head:: Brask: I didn't see anything else.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::shrugs:: Doon: Since you've been here the whole time, I figured you'd have looked for an exit from this room. Guess I over-estimated you.
<Kahlan> Naal: Not much I can do without my things anyway. I wish I had a stimulant for you. ::sighs::
<Kahlan> Ian: Lay off would you? I'm sure there were other problems she had to deal with.
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Goes with the business. Now stop being irritating and find a way out of this place.
<Naal_Doon> ::scowls:: Kahlan: Ignore him, if he wants to be a jack-@ss let him... I only hope Taak catches him and gives HIM a taste of torture...
<Kahlan> Ian: Your eyes are as good as mine. I'm the medic, and I'm doing my job.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::smirks at her:: Kahlan: Good.
<Kahlan> Naal: If you're still feeling a bit weak when we get back to the ship let me know. I have more supplies there and I can help you.
<Naal_Doon> ::nods and gives her a weak smile:: Kahlan: Thanks. I'll probably take you up on that... if we get back that is... it's a good thing I didn't eat or drink anything he offered me...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::moves along the walls of the room, letting his hands run across it as he does::
<Brask_Key`far> All: Perhaps there might be a door, or some kind of control hidden beneath that piece of furnature?
<Kahlan> Naal: Very likely. Even if it wasn't poisoned it wouldn't have taken much for him to slip in some chemicals. He could have drugged you into telling him anything he wanted to know.
<Kahlan> ::shrugs at Brask:: Brask: Maybe. ::stands up from the sofa::

ACTION:: The doors they came in close, separating Brask from the others.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: pushes the opening control once again::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::loos to the doors:: Self: Great!

ACTION:: The doors do not open. Instead, the controls begin to smoke as they burn from behind the panel::

<Brask_Key`far> :: moves away from the console and sighs:: Self: Well that is a problem.
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Kahlan: My thoughts exactly....::moves away from the sofa::
<Taak> ::via speaker:: All: Ahhh, a reunion! How happy you must feel to be together once again.
<Kahlan> ::sighs:: Self: Why am I not surprised?
<Brask_Key`far> :: shrugs and begins to backtrack the way they came from the cells::
<Naal_Doon> ::whirls to face the voice:: Taak: What's the matter you pile of Bantha fodder? Why'd you run off like that? You're nothing but a coward!
<Taak> Doon: Oh, you know how it is. Anything more than two is a crowd.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to the speaker and for a camera that Taak can see by::
<Naal_Doon> ::rolls her eyes:: Taak: Exactly... coward...
<Taak> Doon: I ask once more for your cooperation.
<Naal_Doon> ::chuckles:: Taak: And you said I was dumb? Haven't you figured out by now that you're not going to get it? I'm not telling you anything, Taak.

Assignment 010605 - Episode Eight Cont'd

(continued)

<Ian_Hawkins> ::frowns at the lack of a camera:: Self: How is he doing it? ::keeps looking::
<Kahlan> Taak: Cooperate with my rear end you slime.
<Taak> Doon: But that was when it was just you and I.
<Brask_Key`far> :: heads back to the cells, hoping to find a control panel or terminal with access to the security system::

ACTION:: Brask comes face to face with a corridor filled with droids::

<Ian_Hawkins> Doon: What does this son of a sith want from you anyway?
<Brask_Key`far> :: stops dead in his tracks, not moving a muscle, thinking there might be a small chance the droids track by movement::
<Naal_Doon> ::scowls and turns away from the voice and hopefully the "camera":: Ian: He thinks I'm prime harem material... plus he also wants to know who sent us and why we're here...

ACTION:: The droids do not move. The maintain their position::

<Kahlan> Naal: Prime...oh no...::shudders at the thought::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Doon: And you didn't tell him... why? ::questioning look on his face::
<Naal_Doon> ::smiles just a teensy bit and shakes her head:: Kahlan: Sorry, that was a joke.. he hardly thinks I'm good enough for his harem... you can tell I'm pretty broken up over it too...
<Naal_Doon> ::gives him an odd look:: Ian: Do I really have to answer that?
<Kahlan> Naal: Yes, I can tell. I hope he thinks the same of me. ::laughs a bit uneasily::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::continues to look around for a way out... sees no control panels or anything to use to get out:: Doon: No, but you could tell me if Brask was on to something about that sofa. ::heads towards it.::
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head as her eyes dart around quickly:: Ian: Not that I know of, but it's possible. I didn't really get a chance to look...
<Kahlan> Ian: I doubt it would be so easy, but it can't hurt to look. :: bends over to help shove at the sofa::
<Ian_Hawkins> Doon: Help me with this. ::tries to lift up the sofa to see what is underneath::
<Naal_Doon> ::stoops down to help Ian::
<Brask_Key`far> :: watches the droids with his eyes, staying perfectly still::

ACTION:: The sofa doesn't budge. It's as if it's part of the floor itself::

<Kahlan> ::mutters:: Figures
<Ian_Hawkins> ::stands up:: All: Well, it was worth a shot.
<Kahlan> ::nods at Ian and paces around the room::
<Brask_Key`far> :: waits for the droids to focus their receptors away from him, if they do, and then rushes at them headlong, as fast as he can, trying to grab the first two and smash them together::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Ian: I'd blast the thing if I had my blaster.... ::stays on her knees and feels around the sofa's edge::

ACTION:: The droids did not look away, but they are slow to react to the unexpected. The first two droids are quickly smashed together, completely destroyed::

<Brask_Key`far> :: rolls under the others to come up and attack them from behind, hoping to confuse them further::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Doon: If we had our blasters we wouldn't even be here. ::shakes his head:: We should have never trusted that slave.

ACTION:: Brask's rolling hits the droids from underneath, further disorienting them. his attack from the rear is even more successful due to that.::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::takes seat on the sofa:: All: I'm up for ideas.
<Naal_Doon> ::laughs sarcastically:: Ian: Oh nice observation....
<Brask_Key`far> :: tries to attack any visible weak spots but focuses on trying to dispatch them as quickly as possible::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::ignore's Doon, since it doesn't help their situation::
<Kahlan> Ian: You could always trade me for your freedom. I'm kidding of course. I can't think of anything. It seems as if we're stuck in here unless Brask can get the door opened again.

ACTION:: All but two of the droids are destroyed. The two droids escapeed destruction by leaving the corridor::

<Brask_Key`far> :: rushes after the two droids::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Kahlan: If I could trade you, I would. ::grins:: Kidding of course.
<Naal_Doon> :: paces the room and heads to Taak's doors:: Taak: Alright Taak. You win.... we'll talk....
<Kahlan> ::gives Ian an odd look:: Ian: I hope so. ::laughs::
<Ian_Hawkins> :: doesn't laugh, but listens closely::

ACTION:: The two droids lead Brask through the cell block and out the other end, around a corner and down another corridor. The corridor seems darker than the other ones. Brask knows why very soon::

<Brask_Key`far> :: stops when the room gets darker and turns to head back the way he came, quickly if possible at all::
<Naal_Doon> ::scoffs and turns to look at the rest of them:: All: How much do you want to bet he's flown the coop?

ACTION:: The door closes and the walls begin to move. They are covered with the tiny sonic droids they had met once before. The begin to emit their sonic blast::

<Kahlan> Naal: I can't think of any logical reason for him to do that.
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head:: Kahlan: Neither can I, but don't underestimate this guy... he's got more tricks up his sleeve than you can shake a stick at
<Brask_Key`far> :: tries to shut out the sonic emissions and moves to check for the panel that controls the door he came in from::

ACTION:: The tiny droids begin to move faster... crawling to cover the controls and Brask::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::lays back and looks at the tall ceiling:: Doon: What exactly did this guy do to you here?
<Brask_Key`far> :: swings his arms to try and throw the droids off of him as well as trying to dig through them to get to the controls::

ACTION:: The droids completely cover Brask now. The begin to send out their sonic blast once more::

<Kahlan> ::keeps pacing around the room::
<Naal_Doon> Ian: Well, first he tried the friendly approach so I played along... then when his back was turned I turned into a Trianii and attacked him. He held me to that sofa with some kind of force... pressure you might call it. I couldn't move.
<Brask_Key`far> :: wishes one of the codes he got from the droid core was a droid deactivation code as he fights to throw the droids off him::

ACTION:: Suddenly, a hidden hatch in the middle of the ceiling opens up and water gushes down into the room::

<Naal_Doon> Ian: Then, when I still wouldn't co-operate, he tried to freeze me to death... and then give me heatstroke... he had just showed up to try and get me to talk yet again when.... ::jumps back away from the water::

ACTION:: Without explanation, the tiny droids stop their sonic attack and fall off of Brask. The other droids move to take their place, however::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::is pushed down onto the sofa by the water... fights to get off the sofa::
<Kahlan> :: backs away from the rush of water to get where the current is a bit weaker::
<Naal_Doon> ::shields her eyes as much as she can and fights her way over to Ian to help pull him off the sofa::
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks down at the dead looking droids, thinking for a moment:: Self: That's not possible, is it?
<Kahlan> Naal: Can you get to him?
<Naal_Doon> ::shouts above the rushing water:: Kahlan: I'm gonna try!
<Kahlan> ::fights the current to catch up to Naal, trying to help her get to Ian::

ACTION:: Ian manages to get his body turned just right to use the water to push him off the sofa... and into Doon... both are pushes across the floor to the wall::

<Brask_Key`far> :: waits for the droids to cover him once again and copies his actions from a moment ago::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::coughs as he stands up using the wall for support::
<Kahlan> ::shakes her head and turns to go with the current, over toward the wall with Ian and Naal::
<Naal_Doon> ::is thrown onto her back as the water washes her away from the sofa and tries to scramble to her feet, coughing and sputtering::
<Kahlan> Both: Can you both swim?

ACTION:: The droids cover Brask once again, but this time they do not stop their attack::

<Brask_Key`far> :: shrugs, as best he can covered in droids, and begins trying to throw them off and fight his way to the console once more::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks around:: Kahlan: Don't worry about me. Find Jannell and make sure she doesn't drown.
<Kahlan> ::nods at Ian and fights the current, searching the room for some sign of Jannell::

ACTION:: The slave girls are all huddled together near the doors the group came in.::

<Kahlan> ::stands with the slave girls, keeping an eye on Jannell::

ACTION:: The water is rising. At the moment it is up to their knees::

<Naal_Doon> ::looks up at the rushing water:: Ian: Looks like he's going to drown us... either that or we've found our way out.... mind you we'll have to swim for it...
<Ian_Hawkins> Doon: By the time we get to it, he'll probably close it off. ::sighs:: Why can't this be easy?

ACTION:: It takes some time, but eventually the droids fall off of Brask and become silent. The other droids do not move to take their places::

<Brask_Key`far> :: looks around:: Self: Ahh, rotating deactivation codes, clever. :: turns to the door panel::

Assignment 010605 - Episode Nine

EPISODE NINE:
Taak Primar has the entire group, minus Brask, confined to a room filling with cold water. The water is rising quickly and is nearing waist high. In less than an hour, the room will be flooded completely, unless someone figures a way to stop it.
Brask has managed to get passed the droid security and is working on a way to free the others, and himself. What he finds might suprise him, and the others when they find out.

%$%$% BEGIN EPISODE NINE %$%$%

<Naal_Doon> ::shivers in the water trying to figure out how to get out::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::wades to the sofa and climbs up on top:: All: Let's see how many can fit on this thing.
<Brask_Key`far> :: looks once more at the disabled droids before crouching down and examining one::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks at him:: Ian: Oh, and how much more time is THAT going to buy us... ?
<Kahlan> Naal: At least some. ::heads for the sofa, helping Jennell with her::
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: Feel free to stay off, if you don't like the idea.
<Brask_Key`far> :: considers dismantling the droids to look for useful parts but decides to hurry and find a way back to the others::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks up at the pouring water and wonders what she can use to plug the hole with::

ACTION:: The water is nearly to the top of the sofa, and there is just enough room for them all to stand on it::

<Brask_Key`far> :: turns and accesses the door controls::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::slips a little as the water continues to pour onto the sofa:: All: Just be careful. It's getting slippery.
<Kahlan> Ian: Ok, I agree this buys time, but Naal is partially right as well. I don't suppose you have any more ideas for the future?
<Naal_Doon> ::chuckles:: Kahlan: Well, if we don't soon think of something... there won't BE a future...
<Kahlan> Naal: My point exactly. Which is why we need a plan.
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Am I the only one trying to think of ideas around here? Sure, I can try to come up with something, but nothing is going to be easy. ::continues to look around the room for anything to help them out::
<Kahlan> All: I'd say to wait and swim out the hole when the water gets deep enough, but there's a lot of force to it.
<Kahlan> All: Also, there may be some kind of screen up there...
<Naal_Doon> ::stands back and watches the hole::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: And not everyone might be able to swim. ::looks to the slave girls::
<Kahlan> ::nods:: Ian: We may have to help those who can't, adding to the difficulty. You are the one who said it wouldn't be easy.
<Kahlan> Ian: I'd prefer to try a few things before we get that close to the ceiling though.
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Kahlan: I wonder could we find a way out through the ceiling....
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Be my guest. I won't hold anyone back if they can get us out of this mess.
<Kahlan> Ian: Trust me, I wish I could.

ACTION:: The door that Brask is accessing opens to reveal another empty corridor, but this one is lined with bulkheads and struts. There are few doors along the corridor. Most look like maintenance access panels::

<Brask_Key`far> :: moves down the corridor and checks one of the access panels, opening it up::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: I'm sure the rest of us wish you could too.

ACTION:: The panel reveals a very narrow passage that doesn't go very far. Inside there are some mechanicals but nothing of great use.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: closes the panel and tries another::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::sighs and jumps off the sofa into the water, which is just above waist level now:: All: OK, I need you to get off the sofa for a while.
<Kahlan> Ian: Ya have an urge to get rid of us all a little faster? ::grins and jumps off into the water, helping Jennell down::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: If only I had that choice. ::reaches down and tries to tear the sofa covering off of it:: I just need to get this fabric off this thing to make a rope.
<Brask_Key`far> :: examines the mechanicals in the last panel he checked to determine their function::
<Naal_Doon> ::concentrates and turns her hand into a set of claws:: Ian: Will this help?

ACTION:: There is a heavy thudding sound in the main corridor behind Brask::

<Brask_Key`far> :: turns::
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: Sure. I don't have a knife anymore, so that would work.
<Naal_Doon> ::tears at the fabric on the cushions with her animal like claws::

ACTION:: One of the large droids that they saw repair the door to the cell stops at the open maintenance panel and turns to look inside::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::grabs the loose fabric and begins twisting it into a rope::
<Brask_Key`far> :: doesn't make a move towards the large droid but gets an idea:: Droid: State your function and task. :: in a stern voice::
<Droid> :: bent down to look inside:: Brask: What are you doing in this area? This is not for you. ::reaches in with a large arm and hand to grab Brask::
<Naal_Doon> ::grabs the fabric and tugs it off the couch, handing it to him::
<Naal_Doon> Ian: What are you going to do anyway?

ACTION:: The fabric comes off easily, and the soft material underneath begins to tear under the pressure of the water pouring onto it.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: doesn't fight the droid, unless his grip gets too tight, a bit confused at it's actions:: Droid: You possess a vocabulator?
<Kahlan> ::huddles together with the slave girls, trying to keep the ones who seem to be weaker on their feet::
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: Make a rope, of course. We could use it to help everyone out of the room if we need to go out that hole.
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Ian: I'd like to think we can tear away some of the ceiling and get around it.. perhaps out through a vent?
<Droid> :: pulls Brask out of the maintenance passage:: Brask: I am capable of communicating. You are infesting this area. I must remove you.
<Kahlan> Ian: Do you think there will be enough there to rope all of us together?
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: If you see a vent, please let me know. ::grins::
<Brask_Key`far> Droid: Oh, I am? I appologize. I was unaware. Would you like me to leave so that you can continue your other tasks?
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: I don't intend to tie us together. That would just drown us all.
<Kahlan> Ian: Or make it easier for the stronger to help the weaker. It can go both ways unfortunately.
<Droid> ::moves down the corridor with Brask still in his grip:: Brask: I must dispose of you. I cannot let you free to infest more areas.
<Naal_Doon> ::looks up at the ceiling:: This room has to have some kind of venthilation... otherwise he wouldn't have been able to flood it with hot and cold like he did
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks at Kahlan and frowns:: Kahlan: Have you ever been tied to anyone before?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to Doon, not knowing exactly what she means::
<Kahlan> ::laughs:: Ian: Well not in the way you mean it. I am not questioning your decision. I was just curious.
<Brask_Key`far> Droid: I see, that is logical. However I know of more infestations near here that need to be disposed of as well. Would you like me to show them to you so that you can clear the infestation quickly?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Kahlan: When tied to a group, everyone is at odds with each other. They can help if all are of similar experience and capability. If one isn't, then the others suffer.
<Naal_Doon> ::notices his look of confusion:: Ian: One of his little tricks... he tried to freeze me to death... then he tried to cook me... ::shrugs and smirks:: Didn't work though... either way, there had to be a hidden vent here for him to flood the room with that much of a temperature change
<Droid> ::continues on:: Brask: I will tend to other infestations when I have finished this task. ::turns at the end of the corridor and heads towards a double blast door::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods to Naal:: Naal: If you could find such vents, I'd like to see them.
<Brask_Key`far> Droid: But I am just one infestation, the others are many, and the greater infestation has a greater chance of causing damage and spreading, so it should take precidence shouldn't it?

Assignment 010605 - Episode Nine Cont'd

(continued)

ACTION:: The water continues to break apart the sofa. Underneath the broken parts is what looks like a box of some sort. Vents on the sides have been sealed, and a panel door, which is locked, can be seen on another side.::

<Kahlan> ::notices the box:: Naal: I think I found your vents.
<Droid> ::opens the doors and walks into a room:: Brask: The other infestations are being tended to. ::opens another ste of doors and puts Brask inside::
<Brask_Key`far> :: sees a chance and gives the droid a solid kick to the midsection to try and knock it off balance and escape now that he has been let go::

ACTION:: The small room that Brask was put in has windows in a set of doors opposite the doors the droid opened. The windows show a clear view of the outside.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: looks out the windows::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::sees the box:: All: Could that be our way out?
<Kahlan> Ian: If we can somehow unlock it...
<Naal_Doon> :: dips her hand down into the water, trying to open or dislodge it or do something to get at it::

ACTION:: Brask can see stars slipping pass the windows... they are in space::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::continues making his rope::
<Brask_Key`far> Self: Well that makes things difficult. :: examines the room he is in, hoping it is not an airlock::
<Kahlan> :: dips down under the water, eyes open, trying to get a closer look at the lock::
<Droid> ::gets up again:: Brask: You have tried to damage me. You must be disposed of. ::moves to return Brask to the small room::
<Brask_Key`far> :: kicks the droid again and takes off running, full speed, away from the it and the airlock::
<Droid> ::stumbles back but doesn't fall this time.:: Brask: Return, infestation! ::runs after Brask with loud quick thuds::
<Brask_Key`far> Droid: I am not an infestation! My function is repair! :: continues running::

ACTION:: The lock on the panel requires a mechanical key to open it::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::finishes his rope:: All: Any luck with that thing?
<Naal_Doon> ::shakes her head:: Ian: I'm not getting anywhere... I don't know about Kahlan...
<Kahlan> :: pops back up from under the water, sputtering:: All: It's a plain lock. Keyhole and such. Anyone know how to pick it?

ACTION:: The water is now just under chest level. The water pouring in has slowed, but not stopped::

<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: If I had some old style tools, I could. ::shrugs::
<Kahlan> Ian: Somehow I doubt there are many of those in here. ::turns to the slave girls:: Any of you have pins in your hair?
<Droid> ::gaining on Brask:: Brask: I will dispose of you.
<Dee> :: picks inside her hair and pulls out a hair pin:: Kahlan: Will this work for you?
<Naal_Doon> ::holds up her hand and shows Kahlan a claw on one of her fingers:: All: So anyone want to try?
<Kahlan> Dee: It might. ::takes the hair pin::
<Kahlan> Ian: So, shall I try or do you want to?
<Brask_Key`far> :: turns the first corner to try and lose the droid::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Be my guest. ::grins::
<Kahlan> ::nods and dips under water again, inserting the end of the hair pin into the keyhole and turning and wiggling it carefully::

ACTION:: The droid is moving too fast and can't make the turn. It slams into several bulkheads and comes to rest just beyond the corner::

<Naal_Doon> ::waits to see what Kahlan can do with the pin and shifts her hand back to normal while she waits::
<Ian_Hawkins> Naal: You might want to help Keyan keep these girls above water. I'll give Kahlan a hand.
<Brask_Key`far> :: slows down a bit but continues on, searching for a security terminal of some kind::
<Kahlan> ::comes back up for air:: Ian: If we get it, we may not want to open it without anchoring somehow. We don't know what's down there.
<Kahlan> ::grabs a breath and goes back under::
<Brask_Key`far> :: wonders idly how they were transferred to space so quickly as he runs::
<Naal_Doon> ::heads to the slave girls and moves to a part of the room where she puts her arms around the girls to keep them above water:: Girls: Now, as long as you trust me to keep your heads above water, everything will be fine...
<Ian_Hawkins> :: pulls his belt off and braids it into his rope, then ties the rope around himself::Kahlan: Good idea. ::grins before reaching down and hooking the buckle onto the vent::
<Kahlan> ::comes up for breath again before going back down to keep trying::

ACTION:: The water is now at chest level in the "torture room". Meanwhile Brask is navigating the maze of corridors and comes to a corridor with a door at the end of it.::

Assignment 010605 - Episode Nine Cont'd

(continued)

<Ian_Hawkins> ::goes under and reaches for the pin and nods to Kahlan::
<Brask_Key`far> :: moves quickly to the control panel and opens it, checking for any indications of alarms and/or locks::
<Kahlan> ::hands the pin over to Ian and goes up to take a bit of a longer breather::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::takes the pin and does what he can on the old style lock... feels something give and pulls the pin back, then reaches to the panel to open it::
<Brask_Key`far> :: calculates the most logical connections to the alarms, then tries to factor in sentient construction and severs a connection, hoping it is to one of the alarms::

ACTION:: The panel opens and reveals a control console used for maintenance of the room functions::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::comes up for air:: All: I got it open. It's a control panel. I'm going to see if it will open doors or get rid of the water. ::goes down once more after taking a deep breath::
<Brask_Key`far> :: tries to follow the alarm connections to the trigger on the door controls and attempts to reroute them away from it but keep them active and powered in case they have a failsafe to activate on power loss::
<Naal_Doon> ::overhears Ian and patiently waits for him to make headway::

ACTION:: The controls aren't obvious and may take time to decypher. The water is almost to shoulder height in the room. Some of the shorter people have water to their chins::

<Ian_Hawkins> :: plays with the controls, wishing Brask was the one under water instead of him::
<Kahlan> :: drops into the water again to look over the controls with Ian, hoping that two heads will be better than one::
<Brask_Key`far> :: wishes he had his tools as he tries to bypass the alarms::

ACTION:: Ian's fumbling causes the vents to open and the water around them bubble. Air is pumping into the room now, but it's freezing air, thus the water is getting cold fast::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::shakes his head and continues to work the controls::
<Naal_Doon> ::starts to shiver against the cold:: Self: Not again...
<Kahlan> :: points to one near the last one Ian touched, trying to suggest that maybe all the tempurature controls are together and he can fix the cold with one of those switches::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::looks to Kahlan and nods, then pushes some of the switches and button in combinations::

ACTION:: The vents stay open, but the air stops. Instead, water begins draining into the vents, and the water stops pouring from the ceiling::

<Naal_Doon> ::heaves a sigh of relief::
<Brask_Key`far> :: stops what he's doing, not wanting to do something wrong because he is using his fingers in place of tools and gets an idea, ripping the control panel cover off and checking to see what kind of useful tools he could make from the parts on it::
<Kahlan> :: pushes off the floor, her lungs bursting, and takes a deep breath when she breaks the surface::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::comes up for air, gasping::
<Naal_Doon> Ian: Nice going Hawkins...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::notices that the door in the ceiling is closing, so he pulls his belt buckle loose and throws it up to grapple the edge::

ACTION:: The belt/rope misses it's moment since the door is too far closed for it to catch::

<Kahlan> Ian: Well, we may not be able to climb out, but at least now we won't drown.
<Naal_Doon> All: Well at least the water has stopped....
<Ian_Hawkins> ::sighs and looks to Doon:: Naal: Thanks, but Kahlan helped. I don't think we got much further. ::looks down at the receding water and the control panel:: There's still hope.
<Naal_Doon> Ian: Maybe there's more to that box... maybe there's a way out of here...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods::Naal: You want to have a go at it?
<Naal_Doon> ::looks from one slave girl to the next then nods:: Ian: Hey, I'm up for anything....
<Kahlan> ::sits down on the floor as soon as the water is shallow enough, still trying to catch her breath::
<Brask_Key`far> :: finishes his fiddling and tries out his new tools on the alarm connections, trying to bypass the door trigger without cutting power to them by rerouting them away from it and through a different subsystem::
<Naal_Doon> ::heads over to Kahlan and Ian and looks downward to the box, heading in closer for a good look to see if she can make sense of working the doors::

ACTION:: The water seems to be going down faster now. It's about waist level again. Meanwhile, Brask is nearly passed most of the alarms. There are only three difficult ones left to disable.::

<Brask_Key`far> :: is running out of subsystems to route the alarms through besides the door trigger and, getting an idea, tries to route the remaining three alarms through each other so that the door won't trigger them but if one goes it would act as a trigger for the other two, hopefully::
<Naal_Doon> ::gets to her knees and leans in close to the box, looking for something that could lead to working the doors, or at least unlocking them::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::moves over to the box as he wraps up his rope:: Naal: I'd wait until the water was a little lower. You can see more that way.
<Kahlan> ::starts to breathe a bit easier::
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Ian: You may be right... I can get at it... but until this water is cleared away, there's not much chance unless I go under too...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods and sits on top of the box:: Self: This isn't as easy as it should have been.
<Brask_Key`far> :: sighs and moves away from the alarms and decides to try the door, run the codes through in his mind once again while holding his hand over the panel::

ACTION:: The door lock deactivates, but the alarms are still in place and active. Meanwhile, the water in the room is now knee high and covering the controls half way::

Assignment 010605 - Episode Ten

EPISODE TEN:
Taak Primar has left Kile and the Zhar System. Unknown to everyone, except Brask and Taak himself, the cells that the group were held in were on Taak's slaver ship. Where he is going, only he knows.
The group has managed to drain the water from the room, but still needs to find a way out. The only doors are locked and there is no obvious way to open them from the inside.
Brask is still at large. The security and maintenance droids are searching the ship for him. At the moment, he's working on the controls of a door. What's behind the door is unknown.

%$%$% BEGIN EPISODE TEN %$%$%

<Brask_Key`far> :: holds his breath and tries to cycle the door lock with the codes he retrieved from the droid core, hoping one of the three alarms he routed through each other doesn't trip and set off all three::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::sighs and tries to come up with something else::
<Kahlan> :: peers around the room trying to get some inspiration::

ACTION:: The doors slide open in front of Brask. Inside is a room full of mechines and a computer core. It's the enigine room for the ship.::

<Kahlan> Ian: This might seem a bit like Russian Roulette, but we could try buttons on the control panel.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Kahlan: Be my guest. The worst is that we could die.
<Brask_Key`far> :: slips quickly into the room and looks around:: Self: Well this is fortunate. :: moves to the computer core::
<Kahlan> ::gives him an exasperated look:: Ian: Is that a yes or a no?
<Keyan_Dargan> ::just wishes he had a gun::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Be my guest usually means yes
<Kahlan> Ian: That part I understood, it was the dying part afterward that made me wonder at the meaning. ::looks the panel over carefully, looking for any clue as to the function of individual buttons::
<Brask_Key`far> :: pulls out the tools he slapped together from the door control panel and attempts to hack into the computer core, searching out any hidden alarms or safeguards first of course::
<Kahlan> ::mutters:: I wish Brask was here to have a look at this.
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods::Kahlan: But he isn't. How much do you know about technology?
<Naal_Doon> ::heads over to the doors to check how tight they are:: Self: I wonder... ::shifts her hands so that they have large thick claws at the end of them. She then tries to get the tips of them into the doors to pry them open::
<Kahlan> :: points her finger at one button at a time:: Eenie meenie miney moe... ::looks up at Ian:: Ian: Not much.
<Kahlan> ::gets to the end of the little rhyme and holds her finger over the button:: Ian: Shall I?

ACTION:: The terminal that Brasks accesses brings up a layout of the ship and red sections show places that require repairs. Several of the sections are ones he had passed through. Another familiar one is the room the others are trapped in.::

<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Do your worst.
<Brask_Key`far> Self: Looks like I've made a bit of a mess. :: tries to tap into the comm grid to talk to the group stuck in the room::
<Kahlan> ::grits her teeth and presses the button::

ACTION:: Kahlan's button push does nothing noticable.::

<Kahlan> ::lets out the breath she was holding and shrugs::
<Brask_Key`far> :: thinks he has it and gives it a try:: *Group*: Hello, can anyone hear me. Ian, Kahlan?

ACTION:: Brask's attempt doesn't work. The communications systems are not run from that terminal::

<Kahlan> All: Please tell me someone has a better method to go about this than mine?
<Brask_Key`far> Self: Blast.. Well scratch that idea. :: tries to access the security grid or door controls::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: You are at the only control panel in this room, so what you're doing is the only hope we have so far.
<Kahlan> Ian: Unless someone happens to know more about tech than I do. ::shrugs and starts over at the next button:: Eenie meenie...
<Kahlan> :: presses the button she ends up on::

ACTION:: This time, Kahlan's button push activates the communications, but not in a good way. A feedback loop creates a screeching sound that pierces everyone's ears and it's loud.::

<Kahlan> ::quickly presses the button again, hoping to shut it off::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::covers his ears and looks to Kahlan::
<Naal_Doon> ::sighs as she has exhausted just about every option she can think of and slides to sit on the floor, just as the feedback starts. She slaps her hands to her ears and blocks out the sound::

ACTION:: The sound's volume drops to a lower level, but it's still annoying::

<Brask_Key`far> :: brings up a status report on the required repairs to the damaged areas::
<Kahlan> :: pushes the button again, thinking it may be a volume control of some kind::

ACTION:: The volume returns to it's previous level::

<Kahlan> ::curses and pushes the button to the right of it::
<Naal_Doon> ::lowers her hands and looks to the others::

ACTION:: The sound slowly dies down and goes away::

<Ian_Hawkins> ::rubs his ears and looks to the others, shaking his head::
<Kahlan> ::sighs and relaxes a bit:: Ian: I'm not sure my method is working too well.
<Brask_Key`far> :: checks the damages to the room that the group is stuck in, cycling through possible repair fixes::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: I agree, but it's all we have.
<Kahlan> ::shrugs and tries again, this time pushing the button on the top left corner::

ACTION:: The room vent opens and air is pumped out of it at a very fast rate. A wind starts to whip around the room::

<Kahlan> ::mumbles:: Sith-spit! ::hits the second button::
<Naal_Doon> ::cringes and gets to her feet, heading over to Kahlan watching what she's doing::

ACTION:: Three more vents open and air pours out of them as well, causing a vortex. Everyone can feel themselves being sucked towards the center of the room::

<Kahlan> ::hits the first button again::
<Naal_Doon> ::goes to her knees and flattens her body to the floor to keep from getting sucked into the vortex::
<Brask_Key`far> :: attempts to piggyback some code onto a maintenance diagnostic for the damaged door and hack into it's controls::

ACTION:: The winds increase and everyone slides towards Kahlan and the box::

<Kahlan> ::hits the third button::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::tumbles and rolls until he hits the box::
<Naal_Doon> ::looks around for something to hold on to and grasps around her until she grabs something::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan::yelling:: Kahlan! Turn off this crazy thing!
<Kahlan> Ian: I'm trying!

ACTION:: The air pressure in the room is building. Everyone can feel it hard to breathe::

<Kahlan> ::hits the next button in the row, trying not to panic::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::takes shallow breaths::
<Naal_Doon> ::keeps her head down and takes slow breaths::

ACTION:: The air vents stop pouring in air and reverse to suck air out, relieving the pressure in the room::

<Ian_Hawkins> :: begins breathing easier now::
<Naal_Doon> ::relaxes and gets to her feet::
<Kahlan> Ian: Still think this is our best chance? ::smiles a bit weakly::
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: Perhaps you should quit while you're ahead.
<Kahlan> Ian: I agree, but I don't know what else we can try. Other than to sit here and wait for what happens next...
<Ian_Hawkins> ::nods:: Kahlan:Unless we know what these button combinations do, I think we should forget using them.
<Naal_Doon> ::nods:: Ian: She has a point. I can't see Primar being foolish enough to leave the controls to get out of here in the room.
<Kahlan> ::nods at Ian and moves away from the control panel::

ACTION:: The vents continue to suck the air out of the room, causing the feeling of a slight vaccuum to form.::

<Kahlan> All: Uh oh...I don't think we have the option to quit right now...
<Brask_Key`far> :: takes another look at the system and realizes that he already has a connection with the door controls, so he forgets the un-needed code he sent along with the diagnostics and tries to hack into the door controls directly, hoping only the panel itself is damaged so the door might still function if activated by remote::
<Kahlan> All: Anyone have an opinion on which button to try next?
<Ian_Hawkins> ::moves over to the panel and looks the buttons over:: Kahlan: Which combinations did you push for the air?
<Kahlan> Ian: I pushed all the buttons on the top row in order from left to right.
<Naal_Doon> ::looks at the vents:: Ian: I wonder do we have enough fabric to stuff the vents?
<Ian_Hawkins> Kahlan: OK, Let me give it a try. :: pushes all of the top row in reverse order::
<Ian_Hawkins> Doon: If you can jam it up, go for it.
<Naal_Doon> ::grabs what she can of the fabric and scrambles to her feet, making to jam the fabric into the vents::

ACTION:: The girls try to help Naal by removing clothing to supply fabric::

<Kahlan> ::sees Naal and the girls and hands over her cloak and pants, standing in nothing more than her long shirt::
<Ian_Hawkins> ::notices nothing changed::
<Kahlan> Naal: I'd hand over more, but... ::shrugs::
