Pinnacle Inc. Preludes for Mission Assignment 060905

URGENT ATTENTION
MISSION ASSIGNMENT

OFFICIAL NOTIFICATION:
Pinnacle Inc.
Tynna Headquarters
Building 305C, Level 45
Tynna Business District

Assigned:
(Lead) Ian Hawkins - Bounty Hunter
Kahlan Amnell - Medic
Brask Key'far - Slicer
Trila Solahn - Smuggler

Objective:
Pinnacle Inc. has been commissioned to gather information about a disturbance in the Elrood Sector.

The commission was requested by Commodore Symteria of Critifini II, a small backwater planet. Commodore Symteria has described the disturbance as a storm, but not a normal storm. A blast wave preceded the storm, which was made up mostly of debris of a multiple nature. Meteors, mechanical parts and unknown substances were reported entering the planet's atmosphere. An after-effect of the disturbance was a radical change in climate and temperature on the planet. Weather patterns have become askew to the norm there.

The New Republic has not been able to respond to the Commodore's request for an investigation. According to the Commodore, the New Republic is far too busy to deal with such a disturbance, and can not spare the personnel for it. Therefore he has come to Pinnacle Inc. for help.

The assignees are to arrive at Trelina, Critifini's capital city. Commodore Symetria will be waiting for them there to arrange their needs. Most of the assignee's requirements will be transmitted ahead of arrival, but specifics may need to be addressed once there.

Related Information:
Critifini II is the fourth planet in the Critin System. Originally, it was a calm planet with a temperate climate. Forests and jungles lined the equator and mountain ranges were scattered among the continents which were separated by vast oceans.

Currently, continental plates have been shifting as an enormous pace. Just less than half a meter over a year's time is the predicted speed of the movements. This has caused widespread devastaion all over the planet. The population's size has fallen to two-thirds of it's last reported size. Many cities are in ruins and most of the population have moved outside of cities for their own protection.

Small factions have began to form and the Commodore's government is at risk of falling, thus a possible plunge in planet-wide chaos.

Equipment:
The following will be supplied to each assignee:

BlasTech DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol with additional power packs

Standard Field Survival Packs containing:

Rations
Chiewab GLiS Emergency Medpacs
LCI Glow Rods
Neuro-Saav Model TD2.3 Electrobinoculars
Fabritech PAC20 Visual Wrist Comms
Merr-Sonn Treppus-2 Vibroblade

Personal equipment must be pre-authorized before leaving Tynna Spaceport.

Accounts:
Upon successful completion of the mission, each assignee's personal accounts will be credited 10,000 credits. Partial completion or unsuccessful completion of the mission will be reviewed and appropriate credit will be entered into the assignee's personal accounts.

Expense accounts will be alotted a balance of 2000 credits. All use of expense accounts will be reviewed. Repayment of used amounts will be deducted directly from assignee's personal accounts, if usage of expense account is found to be negligent. Appropriate usage of expense accounts will not affect assignee's personal accounts.

Responses:
Assignees must report to Level 2 of Building 305 at 1400 hours, weekday 1. Failure to respond could reduce involvement in future assignments. Promptness is a must. Late arrival will be considered a failure to respond.

Chairman Gerret Dendrum III
Administrator of Assignments

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode One

EPISODE ONE:

The assignees have arrived in the briefing room after receiving their mission assignments. They are seated, but the person giving the briefing has yet to arrive.

The current plan is for the assignees to be transported to the Elrood Sector and then take a shuttle to Critifini II. Once there, they would use their shuttle for their mode of transport. A speeder or two will be requested for them to use for shorter distances, as required.

The information that is gathered is to be shared with the Commodore and Pinnacle Inc. Headquarters only. Any other release of information will be regarded as a criminal act and the person or persons involed will be penalized for their actions.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Two

EPISODE TWO:

It's the equivelant of midnight aboard The Fragment. The ship's lighting has been dimmed on the cabin decks for the appropriate effect. The group has had their meals and rest and etc. over the past six hours. Some are resting some more, but others are doing things best suited their moods for the moment.

Across the ship, a call directed only for the group is sent. They have arrived to the Elrood Sector and the call is a message to prepare to leave the ship. A shuttle has been prepared for them and clearance to leave will be granted when they are ready.

They have a window of one hour to gather their gear and leave the ship. If they miss that window, they will be putting their mission in jeopardy.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Three

EPISODE THREE:

They have arrived and were met by one Dimitri Shashikov. Though he didn't use the code or introduce himself, everyone followed him inside the entrance.

Dimitri led them down a short corridor and into a lift, which took them down fifty levels before stopping. Once out of the lift, they were taken to a conference room. Dimitri left them there alone, saying he would return soon.

The room is furnished with a large oval table in the center of the room. It's marbled top still had it's shine, unlike the rest of the room. The room looked as if it had not been cleaned for some time, but was clean enough to suit it's purpose. There are twelve chairs evenly spaced around the table, and ten more chairs on each side of the room for extra seating. The room is spacious, making it easy to hear a slight echo to one's voice.

One wall is lined with windows that run from the ceiling to the floor. The view is that of the city, or what remains of it. Small pillars of smoke are scattered in the view, revealing that there could be trouble among the inhabitants below. A fact that they may possibly see first hand.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Four

EPISODE FOUR:

Dimitri has led everyone to their own rooms. Everyone's rooms are side by side (four rooms in a row), and there are connecting doors between the lavatories of two rooms (Trila's and Kahlan's rooms then Brask's and Ian's rooms). Each room has a single bed and a desk with a small computer console on it. Each room has a closet with drawers for clothing and storage. The lavatories are small, but have all that is needed.

Two hours have gone by, giving everyone time to get settled in and rest in their rooms. Wandering around would have proven a waste of time, since there is nothing to see but boring corridors. No one has contacted them yet to verify that their needs have been met for their mission.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Five

EPISODE FIVE:

The Super Storm has taken it's toll on the city and Commodore Symteria. The Commodore has part of the building sticking out of him, and has lost a lot of blood. He is still losing blood, and unless something is done quickly, he could die.

The group has a mission to do, but right now, they have to gather their resources and wits before they begin.

Re: Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Six

EPISODE SIX:

Commodore Symteria has been tended to, but still needs immediate medical care, or his life would be at serious risk.

Currently, the shuttle carrying them is headed beyond the battlefront. The closest medical facility is in "enemy" territory, and the pilot knows this.

The group's mission seems like it will be delayed further, until they get the Commodore the treatment he needs and safely returned to his home.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Seven

EPISODE SEVEN:

Six hours have passed. Commodore Symteria has been submerged into a bacta tank, after his surgery was examined and his body cleansed of any infections that may have occurred. His condition is stabilized, and he should be able to be extracted from the tank within the next four hours.

Field Marshall Whinfeld has been discussing the situation with Ian. He seems to be having a disagreement on how the storms were created or caused to happen. Though sound thinking and current events show that the Commodore has nothing to do with the storms, the Field Marshall still has his mind made up.

However, he has agreed to allow Pinnacle Inc. to complete their mission. If their findings prove the Commodore is innocent, he will be released.

Meanwhile, The rest of the group have been stuck in the tiny room, under armed guard. They have been given news of the Commodore's condition, but that is all. Other than being fed by the troops guarding them, they have had no other contacts outside the room.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Eight

EPISODE EIGHT:

The shuttle has been allowed to cross into the Commodore's region of the planet. Dimitri has guaranteed their safety, and so far his word has been kept.

Meanwhile, Trila and Ian are being pulled somewhere far away from the Critin System. They have tried just about everything to regain control of their shuttle, but nothing has worked yet.

Preludes for Assignment 060905 - Episode Nine

EPISODE NINE:

It has been half and hour and Brask is now awake, with very little memory of what had happened after the first bolt of energy hit the ship. Kahlan and Mike Talbet, the pilot, remembers very well, though.

Meanwhile, Trila and Ian are about to exit the cargo hold of the shuttle, since all sounds of movement in the shuttle has ceased. They had hidden there as soon as they were brought aboard the huge ship by the magnetic debris. The cramped quarters made the time seem excruciatingly long to them. Getting out of the hold could be a relief.

Unknown to them, however, the troops are still outside the shuttle, guarding it. Scans of the shuttle had shown them the two occupants aboard, and they are just waiting for them to exit.
