Extreme Home Makeover in our town
you know that show? they pick an unfortunate poor family, send them on a vacation to Disneyland or something for a week, demolish their house, and build a brand new one suited to them from scratch? Well, apparently it's a huge show and has a huge following. I've seen it a few times, and it's pretty sentimental and mooshy. Well, the show is here in Lawton, OK, probably not even 5 minutes from where me and Iz live. They have a shuttle bus that runs all day from the local college to the site, where you can be a spectator and check out the progress on the house. (of course that costs money) Me, Iz, and Bill (the winner of the Emblem contest) took a ride over to the neighborhood to see if we could scope it out, and it was crowded as all hell. They had several roads blocked off with those orange traffic cones, and there were people walking around everywhere. Neighboring streets had NO PARKING signs EVERYWHERE because apparently it's a huge ass deal. We passed by both entrances to the road that the house is on, saw a bunch of tents and lights, woohoo'd at the security guards, and eventually gave up. I think they're still going to be working on the house for the next couple of days, maybe we can ninja-sneak into there.
Everyone in Lawton is saying that this show is going to put Lawton on the map. I seriously doubt that. How many towns do you remember from makeover shows? or reality shows for that matter?
I just thought this was interesting and wanted to share it with people who prolly won't comment. yay!
