Computer Issue

You guys ever hear of a computer wanting to restart itself after you properly turn it off? I normally have to cut the power cord at the right second so it doesn't reboot.

Should I kick it harder?

if pulling the power cord works. i wouldn't change what you are doing.....i might even install a switch so you don't have to strain yourself with pulling the cord. Just flip the switch and everything i done for you.

It has to do with the Windows Fast Shutdown option. I nor Bill found it on XP Corp. Not sure why it's not there. We need a new OS hella bad.

I'm not all that much into computer themselves. I'm just here for the games and Paint Shop program, and several groups and blogs and stuff. It passes the time.

It the restart option perhaps part of an anit-virus program you have?

What's the difference between Suse 10 and Xandros? Are they both point and clicky like Windows is? I'm lazy, and I don't want to waste alot of time typing. That's what I mud for... typing.

Re: Computer Issue

there is a little bit more typing involved but they are basicly point and click.

the main diffenence between Linux and windows is that Windows assumes what you want to be done and Linux has to be told what you want done.......That is why linux is more stable

Re: Computer Issue

If you want point and clicky and easy to install linux then Ubuntu is DEFINITELY for you...

But as for the shutdown issue it sounds more to me like your ACPI stuff is all messed up and doesnt recognize a shutdown over reset... take a look at your BIOS settings.
