REAL LOST ROOM KEY FOUND
I have just joined this forum but have known about it for quite some time. I love the show and desperatley hope they do a series. In the mean time I have acquired a key to a real hotel and it is amazing. This hotel has been gone for 38 years and was shut down for more than that. I have the key to room 25. Known as the Alvarado Hotel in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I even found a great article on the demolition of it. While not brass and gold stamped foil it is still a typical old hotel room key.
Oh by the way a link to the article, http://www.wheelsmuseum.org/alibi.html , and some photos of it as well on another site, http://www.cabq.gov/library/postcard_c-Alvarado.html . I wil have some pictures up on my flicker account later tomorrow.
I was enthralled to find this key, I first saw it in a drawer for an old desk from a animal rescue association in las cruces. This desk was given to me and I like keys anyways so hung on to it. It lingered in another drawer of another desk for almost 2 years. Now recently I stumbled across it again and my curiosity being piqued I looked up the hotel. This hotel was Albuquerque's number one hotel as well. Sadly it was destroyed merely because of funding.
It did leave a nice momento for me though. To describe the key is weird it's fob is plastic and the key silver, it is a schlage key, and has the hotel name and the number on opposite sides with the same number stamped into the key as well. It even has the manafacturer in the bottom of the fob.
I find the story behind the key interesting and mysterious. there is some door out there probably with the numbers removed that needs this specific key and because people helped themselves to the hotel after it's destruction may still exist. Or someone just took the lock mechanism but at one time I could have gone to this room and found who knows what. It leaves my imagination tingleing and hope for more of the show. Again later I will add pictures if anyone wants. Oh! A small side note this key is in immaculate condition, almost new! I wonder if it would be a good replacement for the real key now that the first is locked in a room.
P.S. I have yet to see if it opens any doors, I must admit I am a little leary to try.

Re: REAL LOST ROOM KEY FOUND
Welcome to our cabal.
I would love to see pictures of your key. The Alvarado Hotel is certainly a lot fancier than the Sunshine Motel. Still, it has a lot of romance. It is fascinating to find a key to a hotel and then later learn what it is a key to.
