Re: multiple new objects-----unconfirmed
Right, why a typewriter instead of writing it down and typing when he got home? Was what he needed to type to be given to someone in the area where went to? Then it would be silly to go there, go home and type it, and then come back. Just bring the typewriter with you.
It's like a 30 lb laptop of our day.

Re: multiple new objects-----unconfirmed
ok, so I'm replying to my own message...
If we can logically asume Eddie went to Gallup for a specific reason of likely scientific origin, and we know the date and time.....THEN
Has anyone of you Wonderfully Obsessed people looked in 1961 newspapers for Gallup New Mexico to see if there is an actual event in our real world that might have served as inspiration for the Lost Room **EVENT** ?

Re: multiple new objects-----unconfirmed
I have Googled 1961 many times. I have never gone to a library and researched it.

Re: multiple new objects-----unconfirmed
If I had the money and the time, I'd go there and check it out.
A lot of libraries carry old copies of their local papers, sometimes on microfilm. It's not something that would likely have been posted to the internet.
For the record, what is the month and day of the event ? I forget if they said in the movie. You can probably tell the approximate time from his bus ticket.

We must have posted seconds apart.
One thing any TLR fan eventually knows by heart is the exact time of The Event!

Re: multiple new objects-----unconfirmed
Okay, so here's what I get when I googled it.
quote:
Thunderstorm on May 4, 1961 around Colorado/Oklahoma/New Mexico, and one in Nebraska/Kansas area.
Source: http://vortex.atmos.colostate.edu/johnson/...1_mesohighs.pdf
Thunderstorms have lightning and a discharge could have something to do with it...or the storm could be a result of the event instead of cause...
but since storms are usually short lived, that's not likely what brought Eddie there in the first place.
