Re: The Real Watch
I also have been looking very hard for the watch. It must be an incredibly rare item.

Re: The Real Watch
This is about the closest I've seen, but it doesn't have the sunburst dial or the 17 jewel markings

Re: The Real Watch
I know i have been searching for the right watch from day one and have done all i could to help track it down. While i have not contacted any watch sellers or makers about an inquiry into this i keep trying to track down the right brand and watch.
I am personally 80% sure its a Bulova and 87% sure its a 17 Jewel wrist watch. But what always alludes me is the face plate. The watch casing seems to for sure be a Bulova case and tracked one down that used one that was 100% correct. But then it all boils down into how many hands the watch has.
The correct watch only has two hands in the center a hour and minute hand. and the second hand is separated on the bottom of the watch. An interesting fact is that military watches were set us in this fashion in the 50's-60's. We know Eddie is missing an eye it might have been from service and he does seem to be a very organized and orderly man. There is a chance he is a or was a military man. the glass eyes we found a lot of them were from world war two. but there is also reason to believe him to be a reporter with his typewriter.
However whatever Eddie was the watch seems to keep eluding me. The things that seem to be the hardest to find is a back face that only displays the 2,4,6,8,10,12 with only a edge sunburst pattern that doesn't go into the center. it has three lines of text at the top and red lettering around the second hand at the bottom.
--- "All that matters, is the price. That's what nobody gets. There’s always a price to pay, for using the objects. Weather you know it or not, There's always, a price."

Re: The Real Watch
Hey, is there a picture of the watch without the touch-up? I mean without the lettering added to the picture?
Thanks,
Z

Re: The Real Watch
I don’t see any of that as bad news. If there is one object that no one can find, there is no “closure” to object collecting. Object Collecting Forever!

Re: The Real Watch
I had a watch with that kind of dial when I was 6. If I remember right, it was a Lion or Certina. Those were the most common watches here in Finland since 1960's.
Actually that is "leijona" brand, not "lion" as it is Finnish brand.

Re: The Real Watch
These guys seem to be equally enthustiatics about watches, as we are about TLR:
http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/index.php
maybe they know something.
Picked from the Bulova forum:
Here's a handy chart to help date your Bulova or Accutron watch:
From 1949 or so on, the date code is found on the back of the case. For instance, L5 means 1955. M7 equates to 1967. Before that, the symbol is found on the edge of the movement. Some of the symbols repeat themselves but you can tell what year it was made sometimes by the case material. The marking for 1930 & 1940 are the same, but in 1940 yellow gold would probably not have been used. Rose gold was the primary material because the metals used to make jewelry alloys were needed for the war effort. Copper was added giving gold the pink hue.

Re: The Real Watch
Also many of the Vintage Bulovas say "England" "swiss made" or "switzerland"on the dial, although I agree it looks more like "self winding" to me.
