Taylor’s Trial Begins For Suspected Torture
hi guys, I just got back from San Francisco and I wanted to share this interesting story:
The trial for Charles “Chuckie” Taylor the son of the former Liberian President under a 1994 United States law that allows the prosecution of U.S. citizens that are suspected of torture outside of the United States. It is not clear what kind of attorney he has but it is probably a good one.
According to the prosecution the name “Chuckie” is one used while being the head of an anti-terrorist group in Liberia, the Demon Forces and one that brought fear to the people of Liberia. He is alleged to have headed this group from 1999 through 2003 and is accused of heinous crimes such as beheading an opponent with a knife, burning some of his victims with melted plastic and causing injury by cutting a victims penis prior to dumping him in a dirt pit.
Taylor was born in Boston and raised in Orlando and whole he is on trial in Miami his father is being tried as a war criminal in the International Court of Justice in The Hague. The attorney representing Taylor stated that his client is innocent and was helping the Liberian President by protecting him from rebels trying to over throw the West African government of Liberia.
