Monuments
THE AMERICAN WAR MONUMENTS AT UTAH BEACHFEDERAL MONUMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Dedicated in 1984 for the 40e anniversary of the D Day Landing. The ground where the monument is erected was offered to the UNITED STATES by the village of SAINTE MARIE DU MONT in 1983.
THE 1ST ENGINEER SPECIAL BRIGADE MONUMENT
Inaugurated on 6th June 1945 by colonel CAFFEY who was the commanding officer of that brigade a year before.
MONUMENT OF THE 4TH INFANTRY DIVISION
Inaugurated 6th of June 1964 by General BRADLEY who was the commanding officer of
the 1st US Army for UTAH and OMAHA in 1944.
THE 90th INFANTRY DIVISION MONUMENT
Inaugurated in 1974. The commanding officer of this division on June 6th 1944 was Major General Eugene M. Landrum.
THE MILESTONE 00 MARKER
Erected in 1947. The milestone designates the start of freedom’s way (road of liberty) which
goes to BASTOGNE in BELGIUM.
THE DANISH MONUMENT
Erected in 1994 between SAINTE MARIE DU MONT and UTAH BEACH, it commemorates the 800 Danish sailors who participated in the D Day landing.
THE LECLERC MONUMENT
Situated at SAINT MARTIN DE VARREVILLE on the coastal front where soldiers from
the 2nd Armored division tread on french soil the 1st of august 1944.
STELE OF THE 9TH AIRFORCE
Located at BRUCHEVILLE on the premices of an old airfield, constructed by the americans.
STELE OF GENERAL PRATT
Located near the town of HIESVILLE, it renders tribute to general PRATT who lost his
life when his glider crashed during the night of 5th 6th of June 1944.
COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE OF GENERAL TAYLOR
Situated in the town of HIESVILLE on the side wall of LACAUDEY’S farm, where General
TAYLOR installed his headquarters.
