Trip to Beirut Well guys, Ted asked that I post a few reports and pictures from my recent visit to Beirut. I went as a guest lecturer to the OMAINTEC conference of all Arab engineers to talk about re-furbishment of hospital buildings and equipment and also to discuss thr refurbishment programme in saudi arabia with which we are hoping to be involved.
The Lebanon is a beautiful and historic small country; the people are open and as friendly as you could wish to meet.
The tragedy of Beirut was that following the devastation caused by the long war a lot of rebuilding was accomplished only to have it all destroyed again in the Israel attacks in 2006 onwards against Hizbollah.
They continue to keep their spirit and have accomplished so much yet again.
Some shots of the damaged buildings - many of the destroyed facilities were private apartments:
Re: Trip to Beirut Great photos Jim...thanks! What a beautiful city...and no traffic jams!!!
I agree, the country...and the city...have taken a beating from the rest of the world, but I'm always amazed by the spirit of the people...always up-beat and hopeful of a better future. All the good folks I visit with (on-line) are filled with hope, wonder and good will. Thanks for a look at that lovely land.....
