posticon TAD Relief

I was looking over some of John's posts on the orders he has made and thought it would be nice to have a thread for that purpose alone. Maybe Ted could be persuaded to make a sticky out of it.

(Consider that a subtle hint Ted.)

Anyway, I put in an order Monday for a couple of "Country Gentleman" cobs and three tubs of Edgeworth RR'd. They arrived today. I no sooner got them put away than I placed another order for a tin each of Butera Kingfisher, Solani 656 Aged Burley Flake, A.C. Peterson Escudo, and eight ounces each of SG Best Brown Flake and Full Virginia Flake.

I normally buy from the local shop, but there are so many blends I want to try that are not carried there.

I just placed a small order with 4noggins.com...great store. Being 1/8 British I thought I would get back to my roots:

50g tin SG Best Brown Flake
50g tin SG Firedance Flake
2 oz bulk GH Louisana Flake

All new blends to me. Should be smoking them in about 2 weeks, maybe less.

Well, you're headed in the right direction kiddo! Not real big on the BBF, but Firedance and LF are excellent. I promise, you will enjoy them.

It's a good mixer though - with FVF or one of the stronger flakes and, of course, with ropes or pigtails. Make sure BBF and FVF are dried out a bit IMO.

Re: TAD Relief

I stopped by walmart this morning to get some cough drops (just getting over a cold), and picked up a tub of PA while I was there. My local pipe shop sells it for around $25, I got it for $17.83.

I don't know if I smoke enough PA to justify a 14oz tub, but the tub is so much better than the pouch, it's worth it. So if anyone wants a sample feel free to let me know, I have plenty.

Question for Jim...I know you smoke PA from the tub, do you keep it in its tub or move it to a jar? It might take the better part of a year for me to get through this and I don't know how well the red tub seals.

Re: TAD Relief

Brandon, I have kept the PA in the tub without any problems but the last tub I got I split up into pint canning jars. I bet if you mix that PA 50/50 with 5100 you will smoke it a bit more often. My outlook is that if I'm not sure about how long I can keep something fresh in the tub I move it to a jar. Jars are really pretty cheap. emoticon
