Re: TAD Relief

well I tried johnnycakes perscription for FVF last night, and it was quite different from my dried down experiance...a slight bit of Virginia tang that I did not get at all in the dry bowl and a bit of evergreen or cedar, also bowl started out a bit like a mild to medium expensive cigar (not a bad thing) I lost sweetness and creamyness of the dry bowl....botom line, I liked both LOL
I guess FVF just suites me! I should point out that I am smoking FVF in a EX large Meershaum bowl Kisten pipe and I feel this pipe makes the tobacco SEEM 20% to 35% milder than it really is IMHO just to muddy the waters a bit more emoticon

Ben - Well glad to hear that you like it both ways. Now you have "two" FVF's LOL. emoticon

As for me, my 4Noggins order just arrived, and I have to say I am very pleased. The three bulk baccy's are in great shape. I'll certainly order from Rich again anytime. emoticon

Cup-O-Joes update!

I hope you will excuse the rant but I am somewhat irked at present.

On 5-31-09 I placed an order for 5 tins of Escudo and 10 bundles of pipe cleaners. I got a confirmation email telling me the Escudo was on back order and would ship in 7-10 days. While I was a bit miffed that they did not simply say on the website that the item was not available (something that Mars and 4-noggins both seem to be able to manage doing) I thought a week was no big deal.

On 6-20-09 I sent an email asking if the Escudo was still on back order and received the following reply.

“Unfortunately, the Escudo is still on backorder. We have heard recently from the importer that they should have this available for us about the end of the month and we will have it for shipment about one week later. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best Regards,
Melisa”

Well, in fact I did have other questions as well as a few choice comments but decided to wait for the end of the month and see what happened. Kind of as I expected, nothing happened.

Along came 7-12-09 and I emailed asking as politely as I could muster if I could expect this order anytime soon.

The reply dated 7-13-09. “Thank you for your order. The Escudo arrived today and your backorder was shipped today. This should arrive to you in about 3-5 business days.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best Regards,
Melisa”

As of yesterdays mail, NOTHING!

I will say they were true to their policy of not charging my card until the tobacco shipped. At least I hope it shipped.

I only use CoJ's when I can't find a blend at Mikes...usually a bulk that Mike only has in tins. While it's nice to have a source for otherwise hard to find baccys, it sometimes doesn't seem worth the hassle....been there amigo...I feel your frustration!

Ted, I do the same thing as far as coj goes. I was looking for Escudo. Mars and 4 noggins both were out. (As was coj, they just didn't mention it until I had placed the order.) emoticon

On a brighter note, the Escudo was in the mailbox yesterday and coj was deleted from my "favorites" this morning. emoticon

Ohhhh...5125! Good stuff Jim, and pipe cleaners are an on-going necessity. No Old Boy, but I keep lots of flints for the Zippos.

Right you are Ted! This is a great tobacco but a bit under appreciated I think.

I packed the 5125 into jars this morning. I think I have near to three pounds of this stuff put away now. I usually pack the bulk I buy into pint jars but this time I bought a dozen half pint jars and went that route. The pints are a bit easier to fill a pipe out of but I can fit the half pints into a few "tight" spots I have in the cellar. (And by cellar I mean, of course the spare bedroom closet.)
