If You Love Squadron Leader.....

Hello all, After a 4 month love afair with Aro's I have been discovering English blends, AND learning to apreciate VA's as well. My question is if SL is my favorite so far, And also really enjoy a EMP replica.... what other English blends are you fine folks enjoying that also apreciate SL? I have tried Penzance and it was ok but missing a certain something I love in SL. any thoughts would be appreciated! -Ben

Hi Ben!

You might consider Frog Morton Across The Pond from McClelland, a nice medium English blend. Proper English from Stokabey is another good one...and if you like it, it comes in bulk! Should find both at Mike from Mars.
 Have fun!

I happened to have FMATP in my stash emoticon I had only smoked one bowl in my Kirsten pipe, this pipe seems to make everything I smoke in it about 20-30% milder this is a good thing for me, (a beginner) but it caused my to pass by FMATP....smelled great but lacked flavor......well with your recomendation I pulled it out again and loaded up a semi-churchwarden featherweight that I have hardly smoked and WOW this stuff is GOOD unfiltered in any way! I would say equal to SL but diferent in taste and aroma. Thre is something very satisfying about matching a pipe with a tobacco, and as I gain experiance I am starting to be able to get what I want out of more blends just by changing the pipe I smoke them in. Thanks guys and I will try the other blends on my next big order. -Ben

Never give up on a blend until you've tried it in a few different pipes. Sometimes just changing from a large to a small bowl is all it takes. Then as you found, the type of pipe will often do wonders for a tobacco. I have a pipe dedicated to S/L, though I do smoke it in other pipes. The Stanwell seems to really bring out the best in this tobacco. I also have dedicated a meer and cob to Condor/St. Bruno...mostly cuz they ghost so bad.... emoticon emoticon
Glad you found a pipe that likes the Frog! emoticon
