My Favorite Cigars!
I decided to open my humidor tonight and smoke a cigar for a change of pace. I'm smoking a Partagas Black Label Magnifico 6x54. Been smoking pipes of late so I'd forgotten how good these cigars are! Here is a brief review:
These very full-bodied Partagas cigars are distinguished by a more flavorful medio tiempo, sun-grown wrapper used exclusively in this selection. Inside these large gauge (54-plus ring) cigars is a hearty blend of Nicaraguan and Piloto Cubano ligero filler with a Dominican grown 'La Vega Especial' binder. Seamless construction, smooth draw, ultra-rich flavor and a sweet aroma make this bold alternative to regular Partagas cigars worth a try!
My favorites are as follows, Partagas Black Label, Dark Sumatra by Hoyo de Monterrey, Gran Puro by Punch.
Anyone else enjoy a cigar every once in a while? Jon

Re: My Favorite Cigars!
I too enjoy a good cigar along the way. I have several Partagas in my humidors and they indeed are a good smoke. I really need to go through my humidors and catalog what I have. Thanks for the review and I believe I have a couple that you speak of so may just smoke one today while watching the football games and Nascar race if I'm not in the shop doing some work. I like to be able to sit and enjoy a cigar while I can enjoy a pipe even when working. I don't know why but when riding my lawn tractor and cutting grass/vacuuming leaves, I really like to enjoy a cigar.
A couple of years ago my local B&M had a Perdomo promotion and had a lady rolling them on site. I bought about 15 or so and as they wasn't exactly great at that time after some aging they turned out to be good smokes. I have a couple left and have been chopping one of them up and making a cigar blend for myself. I mix equal amounts of 5100, chopped cigar, blending latakia and then about 15-20% perique and after letting them sit for a while has been a good shop smoke.
Have you tried the new Helix cigars? I suppose they are not really new anymore but probably been out for less than a year. For a low priced cigar they are very good and have proven to be a popular seller at the local B&M.

Re: My Favorite Cigars!
I decided to smoke one of my neglected cigars tonight! I'm smoking a Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatra. I've smoked these from the first day they were available. Here is a quick review:
Each oil-rich wrapper is hand-selected from the very darkest and richest Ecuadorian Sun-Grown Sumatra-seed leaves, then long aged in palm tercios to assure you a full-bodied smoke that's smooth, robust, and unlike any Hoyo you've ever smoked until now. A 'must try' for lovers of woody, nutty, ultra-rich taste!
Larry,
I've never tried Helix. I don't try too many cigars these days, too easy to fall in love! I'm really enjoying my pipes anyway. I'll always keep a few cigars in my humidor though! Jon

Re: My Favorite Cigars!
The Helix are not really complex like some of the more expensive cigars but for the price of around $3.50 or so at my local B&M, they are nice tasting cigars.
I've got two large Dianmond Crown humidors filled with brands from OpusX and about every popular name. My friend at the B&M gives me cigars much of the time and I usually just put them into the humidor to smoke later and then don't seem to get around to it. I've got another humidor that I keep the Helix, 8-5-8's, etc., in. There's some 5-6 years old and they are excellent. I've always been very careful of the beetles so I always do the freezer method before putting them in my humidors. Maybe this winter I'll smoke some of them as a good cigar is sure a treat.

Re: My Favorite Cigars!
I dusted off my humidor to have a look inside tonight! I found an old favorite of mine, La Gloria Cubana Serie R No. 7 maduro. I don't remember when I bought these, but I'm sure it's over a year ago. This a great smoke for anyone who enjoys a very full bodied smoke. Here is a brief review:
La Gloria Cubana Serie R #7
La Gloria Cubana Serie R #7 cigars are robust, power-packed smokes with a richer Nicaraguan Ligero-Dominican Olor blend draped in an oily, Ecuadorian-grown Sumatra wrapper. Full-flavored, yet incredibly smooth, the La Gloria Cubana Serie R #7 is characterized by its wide ring size, easy draw and earthy, woody aromas. Designed for more experienced cigar smokers who can really appreciate the complexities of this bolder La Gloria.
I'm really enjoying this big smoke!

Re: My Favorite Cigars!
You are sure right about those Jon. I've smoked quite a few of them and have maybe a couple in my humidor. During visits to the local B&M, most of the time he'll either hand me a cigar he wants me to try that's either new or he knows them I like them. When he has some of the #7's he'll give me one of those on occasion. He and I both like dark Maduro's and basically have the same taste in them. If someone isn't used to nicotine, the #7's can pack a wallop.
