Partagas Black Label

im gathering the courage to buy some. well, the courage and the dough. anyone have any? smoked one or more? please enlighten me as to what i am to expect from such a stogie... i know theyre supossed to be really full bodied and strong, but does that mean just a strong typical cigar taste or something all together different? are they even worth it?

Greg,
Partagas Black Label is a fine choice indeed, IMO! They are always on hand in my humidor. Yes, they are a very full tasting cigar with a black, oily wrapper. The flavor is all cigar, no added B/S, just pure baccy!
I believe Larry smokes these too?
Be sure to let everyone here know how you like them! emoticon

Yep, I do smoke these at times when I'm in a cigar mood. They are definitely full bodied with a good, strong cigar tobacco taste. They are what some would call strong in the sense of nicotene too and from what some folks have said, if you are not careful you may get the spins near the end of the smoke. emoticon emoticon

Re: Partagas Black Label

well, i did quite a bit of shopping yesterday and am now at home quite pleased with myself. i bought 2 Carolina Cigar Company Nicaraguan with light Madura wrappers, 1 with a sumatra wrapper, 2 rum flavored/scented hand rolled small cigars from the St. Augustine cigar factory and 2 vanilla flavored/scented (i usually stay away from flavored/scented, but these are the absoloute best that i have ever consumed), one Cohibas limited reserve and one Partagas Black Label Maximo (in the spanish cedar lined humitube). the first store i walked into was the one that i bought the partagas and cohiba from, and i think that the owner/operator was suprised that an 18 year old knew which were the "good" cigars in his humidor. he had quite a selection, including Punch, Hoyo de Monterey, Acid, Romeo Y Julieta, Partagas, Cohiba, Rum Runner (oh, i bought 2 tiny Rum Runner mini's, about the size of a cigarette just because they were tiny, but has a suprisingly full satisfying flavor), and many, many more. if youre ever in St. Augustine go to Stogies just off St. George street.

Greg,
Be sure to save that cedar lined tube that the Black Label Maximo came in! The Partagas Black Label Magnifico fits perfect in it and costs less money!
I save those tubes to put cigars in my pocket whilst fishing, etc.. That way your favorite smoke never gets crushed, bent or broken! emoticon

Sounds like you had a good trip and even better cigar shopping. Although most of the time I prefer big, fat, black, shiny maduros, you have got quite a selection to maybe pick some favorites from. As far as flavored cigars, I've got a Maker's Mark cigar in a tube that's been in one of my humidors for several years and should be getting about right by now. emoticon

is it one of those really cool wax-sealed tubes like the bottles of makers mark? i saw some of those in the 'dor of the shop that i bought the better of my cigars from. i thought that it was a very origional idea and very good marketing ploy.

Greg,

Yep, it's in one of those tubes wth the wax like is on the bottles. I've never smoked one of those cigars but have read they are rather good. Maybe one day I'll get around to firing it up. emoticon
