Mark Twain

My e-bay Peterson Mark Twain arrived today.

A1 condition and a credit to the seller "rare pipes" and Barry Levin's memory.

Very lightly smoked and alcohol cleaning produced no gunk at all. The stem was oxidised through storage but bleaching again produced no internal gunk, so a clean of the silver and external buff of the stem was the only necessary refurb.

I attach before and after pictures but there is really very little difference.

I love Petersons for Va's and Va/Per's but a first smoke with well aired FVF says this is going to be the best.

Congratulations Jim, they are indeed a fine pipe.

I have a Mark Twain which rates in my top five pipes, out of far too many.

FVF is a fine choice in that as well.

Nice looking pipe there Jim, congratulations. I have wanted to get a Mark Twain for some time now but never could find one at the right time. (The right time being when I had pipe dollars in my pocket.)
