German Pipemakers: Gerhard Wilhelm

Hi Folks,

The next one I want to introduce is a man called Gerhard Wilhelm. In Germany he is known as “Der Hexer” (The Witcher), because his pipes are outstanding and he made them in a record time.

Gerhard made Pipes for a couple of years and nowadays he help some newer carvers like Ralf E. Wunderlich, I introduced yesterday, Iwan Melich or the well known Roger Wallenstein (Blue Lobster Pipes).

Gerhard do during a long time only one shape, what would be his “signature shape” but since the last year, he do more classical pipes. Nearly nobody in Germany believed, that he can do classical pipes but they are really great. Now he sandblasted his Pipes also by himself.

Since Gerahrd is a pipemaker he made pipes not only from briar. He also uses amboina, bog oak, olivewood and other tropical woods.

Look at his site: http://www.pfeifenwilhelm.de/

Here are pictures of some pipes made by Gerhard:

 All the best

Tom
