German Pipemakers: The "Rauchzeichen"-Project
Dear friends,
today I would like to introduce a project of several German pipemakers called “Rauchzeichen”.
It all began on a journey to Tuscany in Italy. Frank Stollenwerk, Roger Wallenstein, Oliver Camphausen and Axel Glasner (the last two I will introduce soon), went there to buy briar. One evening on a marketplace with a glass of wine (or two) the idea was born to make a seven-day-pipe set from different German Carvers.
Back to Germany theyi ask some more pipecarvers and Peter Klein, Gerhard Wilhelm, Rudi Apelt and Olaf Langner join the group.
So they made two 7-day-sets, one with classical shapes, one with freehand shapes.
The Pipes are in very nice handmade wooden boxes.
If you want to see more, please look at the site of Olaf Langner:

Both sets are sold, but I think they are very nice to view.
Tom
