Re: New Stanwell Colonial #186
I've got a Stanwell 186 Golden Danish that I've had for a couple of years. I've smoked several blends in it and it's now devoted to L.J. Peretti #102 burley, a blend it works especially well. It's been a good smoker since it was new.
The Golden Danish finish is a blast and Stanwell does theirs especially well, with a deep craggy finish that really brings out the grain. The drilling and fit of the stem and shank are perfect. It is drilled large enough to accept a fluffy cleaner, which I like.
The 186 is a fairly heavy pipe for clinching, which is the way I always smoke. My jaw has pretty much gotten used to it, but it took some time.
Overall I like my 186 and would recommend it to anyone wanting a high quality machine made pipe.
