Yours vs. Theirs

I didn't put any coffee on this morning because I was headed downtown to meet some friends at a local coffee shop.

I just got back home and the first thing I do........make coffee.

Have you noticed that once you get your particular system for coffee figured out, nobody else can make it quite as good? emoticon

I'm really barbaric when it comes to coffee{and just about everything else}. emoticon

Most of the time I think McDonald's coffee is better than what I brew.

What is your method Stump?

I'm with Rob...but then I'm not a big coffee drinker. Most of the coffee brewed around here is for company. I do find my taste for it returning though. Thinking about a perk set-up like the one you got....might make ir more palatable?

I don't go to a lot of trouble with coffee. I drink Maxwell House Lite as it has half the caffine and doesn't taste like de-caff, which IMO is horrible. I make a pot and drink a little and drink the rest warmed over over the next 24 hrs. or so.

I'm fairly particular about making coffee. 1 tablespoon for every 6 oz of water. Usually I'm with Jim, and wonder what barbarian made the coffee at restaurants. emoticon

I use a 12 cup percolator and generally make a full pot. I had a bunch of the filters left after our other coffee maker died so I punch a hole in one of those for the stem they keep stray grounds from getting into the coffee (I hate that). After playing with the thing for a couple of mornings I have settled in on three heaped tablespoons of coffee for the 12 cup brew. I had to play with it a bit because this model doesn't have the clear knob so you can't see how dark the coffee is getting. It just quits perking and goes to warming after a certian time when it thinks the coffee is ready. (The percolator and I did not agree on this point so I needed to adjust the ammount.)

We have two coffee makers in our house, down from three as our espresso machine sprung a leak and we have yet to get it repaired.

Camille favors a French Press method. I like to come down in the morning to fresh brewed. We set them up the night before, I program mine to start brewing 15 minutes before I wake up. We favor Peet's brands, primarily darker roasts; lately we've been on a French Roast kick.

When I make coffee at home I can drink it black.

Anywhere else and I have to have room for cream and generally dump a packet of sweet n low in. This seems especially true of Starbucks coffee. It always seems a bit bitter to me. I also think they roast the beans for their coffee to the point of burning.

Jim I am the same. At home lately it's been Yuban black. At work we brew Maxwell House, and always one little cup of creamer goes in the cup first. At Starbucks I don't even get their regular coffee...I go for the Cafe Mocha.

Cafe Mocha from Starbucks is a good one.
I can't hardly drink their regular coffees(very bitter).
