I know what you mean about the water in some places. When I lived in Jacksonville Florida one of the two times, we lived in a rural area. The water from the city tasted like sulfur and the iron would actually stain clothes in the washing machine. My next door neighbor had a well with a filtering sysem so I tapped into his water line and had excellent water. I had him figure what the well pump costs to operate and paid for it each month so we both came out good. He had free water and I had great water much cheaper than I had to buy it from the city.
About 60 miles from here in Alabama is a place we used to camp and fish on some private property several times each year. I could stand up to my chin in the water and could still see my toes because the water was so clear. The water from that area was tested and was found to be be almost pure with no contaminants. For drinking and coffee we just dipped from an area where we didn't take baths and have the boats anchored. One of the old cooters that went most of the time took a lot of empty, clean milk jugs and would fill them to bring back for his drinking water.

I have a friend that lives waaayy back in the sticks (yea even further than me). in the summer when we are out on his pond enjoying a suana we drink from the pond. Its probably the best water I've ever had. Alot of people there worry about gettin sick, but I've been drinking it for years without problems.

the water that i get here in my dorm is horrible. i refuse to drink it straight. the only thing that makes it even tolerable is kool-ade. if i want drinking water i bring it back from my house in Thomasville, Ga. we have a well there in the county and its soooo fresh and clean. i tried some medium roast coffee with my pipe this morning and i was suprised to the added flavors from the coffee to the baccy and vise versa. it added a warm nuttyness to the smoke. i like it. i need to invest in a coffee maker for my dorm room though so i dont have to run down to the dining hall to get some...

i tried the light roast coffee that was in the dining hall today, and it was bad. i mean bad. it made the coffee taste really watery. maybe i should stick to the medium or heavy roast (if they ever get the meavy roast back out on the counter)

And I'll join you with my last cup of the day. For me it's Maxwell House in the drip maker. When we are home, after a pot is made Brenda pours about half in the carafe so it won't get any stronger while I like mine to sit on the burner and start learning to walk by itself.  Not long ago yet another maker burned out and we bought a new one but instead of the coffee dripping into the glass pot, this one stores the coffee inside the maker and has a dispenser on the front. Just stick the cup under the outlet, press the bar with the cup and the coffee goes straight into the cup. I may be way behind the times as usual but this is the first time I've saw one of these.
