Port and Bourbon

I'm about as light of a drinker as you can get (I'm a lightweight to boot emoticon in the alcohol dept, not the belly dept), but I enjoy port. Anyone else like it? My favorite is Whiskers Blake Tawny Port. I just bought two bottles Saturday as a Christmas present to my dad and my father-in-law.

In the bourbon dept I like Makers Mark. My wife has an aunt and uncle in KY and last year while on a visit her uncle took us to the MM distillery in Loretta. Beautiful place and since they were so hospitible they're now my favorite bourbon. It's really is good, too. emoticon

Love Makers Mark. I have also grown to like Knob Creek as much if not more, and Woodland Reserve is a good buy for the price.

I know Rob is a fan of Bourbon as well so maybe he has some thoughts.

My girlfriend really likes Port, while I tend to like Sherry a lot....different strokes for different folks.

Ummmmm......bourbon. emoticon

All the bourbons that Johnny mentioned are some of the best. A few others that I enjoy are Buffalo Trace,Pappy Van Winkle{can be expensive},and Jim Beam Black Label{can't drink white label}.

Many more I want to try.

Cheers!!!

Maker's Mark. Simply the best all-round bourbon on the planet, and I've had some pretty special ones. Winter wheat = fabulous bourbon, apparently.

I kind of like the Taylor Fladgate Ports I've had, but I'm no expert at all. I just know I like the stuff.

Woodford Reserve = super smooth and mild

Basil Hayden = smooth with a full flavor and perfect with a pipe or cigar.

Oops forgot to add, Austrailian Ports all taste good to me, but are a rare treat.

I rarely drink liquor any more, but when I do it has to be that good ol' kickin' chicken! (wild turkiy 101 proof)

Last evening I had a strawberry banana margarita-it gave me the biggest headache I have had in years... will be a LONG while before I do that again! We've heard it takes much less up here in the higher elevations to get tipsy...

Had my first experience with Port this evening. The stuff is sweet, almost too sweet. Think I'll stay with brandy and bourbon.
