Home Made Chocolate Eggnog

Chocolate Eggnog:

Rich with chocolate and for adults only. There are no raw eggs in this recipe. Omit alchohol for a family friendly nog. The recipe makes approximately half a gallon. Double all ingrediants if wanting to make a whole gallon.

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups chocolate milk
5 eggs
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup whipping cream
1/2 cup Kahlua (or strong coffee)
1/2 cup dark rum (Cpt. Morgan provides the best flavor. Meyers works well. Or one can use Bacardi 151 for strength. This measurement is a guideline and is of course adjustable to personal preference. :-)
1/2 tsp ground cinammon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg

PREPARATION:

Combine milk and chocolate milk in a pot and simmer (do not boil).

In a bowl, beat eggs and sugar together until thick. Then add 1/2 cup of the hot milk to the egg mixture and mix thoroughly. Then stir the egg mixture back into the hot milk, and place on low heat.

Add whipping cream and Kahlua (or strong coffee). Cook and stir until mixture thickens.

Remove from heat and add Rum, nutmeg and cinnamon. Let cool and refrigerate until chilled.

Serve with a sprinkling of grated chocolate and nutmeg.
