I have found it best to be very open and up front with the kids about some of the illegal thing we have done in the past. If we talk BS to them about it they seem to sense it and don't believe what we say about it. Right now they tease the heck out of me because of some of the pain meds I have to take and they are straight for the most part thank God. On a good day it reinforces the bad parts and does help them. I never pretended to be perfect or completely legal LOL and they know that I won't tell then something that isn't true. Sometimes they hate it when I turn out to be right LOL. All in all my wife and I have been very lucky with the kids. They are a very good group of youngens LOL

The Absinth thats illegal in this country is the one that is aged or cured in wormwood. It will make you see some funny things. I always loved the taste of it for some reason. Back in '69 I was working in a bar in Washington DC and a customer of mine brought in a bottle. We kept it behind the bar and took shots of on regular basis that night. I made thru the work night but don't remember alot after that except we had alot of fun at a party somewhere LOL

We went through 4 bottles of absinth (chzech strong) with no strange visions of green fairys. After the first bottle my room mate was determined to see something and finished and entire 1/5 in about 6 hours ... he saw something alright.. a white bowl filled with watter... he visted this vision for about 2 days.. I think to get the hallucigenic (sp?) property it is mixed with lauder (sp?) poision the stuff that Van Gogh was mixing with his drink. I also believe Van Gogh was cleaning his paint brushes with his mouth (lead based paint) which was attributed to his psycological state.

ive read that absynth isnt illegal to own in the US, just illegal to sell, so you can order it from out of the country. ive also read that there are certain ways to prepare the absynth before you drink it, like pour a shot, put a sugar cube on an ansynth spoon (a spoon with holes cut in it, a large fork will do too) and pour the shot over the sugar into another glass. then continue to either drink the shot or mix your drink as normal. there is a really informatice absynth website that i was looking at but i cant remember what the link was. ill try to find it again.

), I certainly was able to properly educate my kids about such things and did so from real experience not from what I had read in magazines. Although my oldest daughter and stepdaughter have told me they smoked reefer a few times but didn't care for it, they never tried anything stronger. I don't know if it was my talking to them about taking drugs or not but at least they didn't get involved and for that I'm very glad.
