Merlot drinkers...

Can anyone recommend a decent Merlot that's under $25 a bottle? Thanks in advance!

Sorry Jackstaw, I'm not much of a wine man.
I could help you in the beer department.

I'm bringing this topic back up.

I was at Meijers this evening looking through the wine department and realized I have no clue about wine. My wine purchases at this point have been if I liked the look of the bottle. emoticon

Help Jack and I out and give us some good ideas.

Thanks!!

Not a wine guy here either. Best I could do would be to say that in a pinch Boones Farm Strawberry Hill ain't bad. (Anyway it wasen't 25-30 years ago.)

Try some of the Australian stuff... Wolf Blass has a decent Merlot, and I think Koonunga Creek (or Hill??) does too. Lots of those Aussie wines are pretty decent value.

Another place to lean is Chile... they have probably the best climate for grapes in the world, and some of their wines are top class at very reasonable prices.

I know this is late, but Yellow Tail makes some great wines for well under $25, including a Merlot I believe. Also anything from Argentina or Chile will surprise you at how good it is for so cheap. Anything from those two countries is far better than stuff costing 5 times as much.

Thus far after trying many I have found three good ones. Two only cost $10 a bottle and can be found at most grocery stores that carry wine;

Yellowtail Shiraz
Rosemont Estate Shiraz Cabernet

My favorite is a bit more expensive as it is a Port:
