Possible Forum Lighter!
I found a site that makes custom Zippo lighters and mentioned it to Ted. We tossed around the possibility of a "GPSF" lighter with a custom logo. I wondered how many members would be interested in one if it does come into being.
These are just a couple thoughts on my part and I haven't run them by Ted yet, so they are subject to change.
(1) The logo would be put before the members first for acceptability.
(2) The price on the lighter would be at cost. this wouldn't be a money making thing, just another part of this fine forum and a way for us to show our support of this forum and all that it meant to Larry.
As a beginning, I'd like to ask for possible idea's for the logo and any wording on the lighter itself. Feel free to post them here, or to PM them to myself or Ted.
I think that this would be a wonderful way to honor both GPSF and all the time and love that Larry put into this great forum.
That being said, thanks in advance for everyones idea and help in this endeavor.

I'm good for one. The eagle design and "GPSF" underneath it sounds good to me, too.
edit to add: There's a fellow who lives about a mile from me that does laser engraving. Horace DeJarnett uses him for all his pipes to etch the logo and number, and I used him on the pipe I made for my friend. He charges a flat rate of $12 to engrave whatever you want on anything you want, at least something small like a lighter. If cost is an issue, basically with this guy it would be the cost of the lighter plus $12, that's it. But I don't know what the place Steve found charges. So if you want me to look into it more just say the word. I suppose if anyone's interested I could send him my Zippo as a test model, and post pics.

This sounds like a great idea! Count me in. I like the idea of the eagle and "GPSF" over the top for a logo. If I can make a suggestion for an addition to this it would be to add Larry's initials or even his forum handle, (if room allows), underneath.

Here is what the website says about the lighters:
We can take your company Logo, photograph,
image or artwork and produce custom
Lighters for you.
Prices are $14 for Satin Chrome finish and $16 for flat black finish. So they wouldn't be bad at all. But I'm still waiting to find out about the pipe inserts.
I'll let you know.
As for the design. I like some of the Ideas so far, but don't want to try to put too much on the lighters.
I was thinking something like:

Or something sorta like that.

Good response! How about "GPSF" over a flying eagle over "EAGLE1" which was Larrys fav forum handle? Steve...looks like Brandons $12.00/per is a pretty good deal, unless of course, your price INCLUDES the lighter. For all...I have a pipe lighter that I could send to Brandon. That way we gould go for both design ideas and have a look/vote for our favorite.
