So will the brass tarnish? I like it, but wondered about tarnishing.
My experience with the brass finish is that it spends so much time riding around in my pocket it doesn't really tarnish, it's always being polished, (after a fashion). The corners do begin to wear after a time but the finish just seems to keep getting brighter in these spots.

Re: Possible Forum Lighter!
Well I already have a brushed chrome zippo pipe lighter, so I'm good with either the brass or black, whatever the majoring wants.

Re: Possible Forum Lighter!
I didn't know about this until I talked with Ted tonight. I think it is a very 'touching' thing that you guys are doing. I love the idea. Personally, I like the black b/c it shows the eagle so well, but I don't carry lighters in my pocket (for some reason... ) so I don't know about the wear. I like the last one, too. And you KNOW you can count me in on wanting one!
You guys are really the best!

OK...I'm in. I prefer the brass, but will go with the majority.

Re: Possible Forum Lighter!
I would like to see that in black, to show off the eagle.... and Moose told me a bit about all the ideas on it. Sounds great to me!!! A wondrous thing in remembrance for an honored person.

Re: Possible Forum Lighter!
If you meant a black lighter, I did one somewhat like this one on page2 message 2 of this thread.

Re: Possible Forum Lighter!
Ok, imagine this. The rep called me back. He is trying to help us out all he can. He has given me somewhat of a price (He has to actually check with Zippo) on a final price per, quantity, and engraving set up charge.
He has shot me a price based on their OK on the black matte with engraving. But he, as said, has to get the ok on the price he gave me. (The price is reasonable) I will post more after he gets back with me today or tomorrow.
Anyway, based on everyones posts and thoughts, here is what I came up with. Sorry Burl, not sure how to make it so you can see it. I'm not sure why the link won't work for you.

Re: Possible Forum Lighter!
Steve....from the look of this it's black matte on brass....cool!! I love the look of this lighter. From what I understand, this finish is fired on, not just "spray-painted", so it will be pretty durable. Understand kids, the normal min order is 50 to get any kind of price break. We can't even come close to that, so cross your fig-ners that Steve and the rep can get us a decent deal on the lighters.
Thanks again Steve, for all the time you're puttin out here......
